Vannah made her way down to the Shrieking Shack. It had only been three days since she had been, but it felt longer. She walked in cautiously listening to the silence interrupted by her creaking footsteps. Vannah came to her favorite place, what she assumed used to be a sitting parlor. She sat in the old tattered chair and was glad to hear there was no one else i there with her.....yet.

Gabby drew her cloack tighter around her as she made her way through Hogsmeade, keeping to the shadows. Her hood was up, shadowing her face. She made her way to the door of the shrieking shack. She had been curious and intrigues by the place for months, and tonight she had finally got the guts to come and explore, she pushed open the door, and took a few steps as the floor boards creaked beneath her feet. Her wand was raised at the ready, she had no idea what could be lurking within.

Vannah's eyes opened quckley and her hand flew to her wand. She drew it out slowly. She knew that the floorboards were creaking too loudly to be an animal. "Who's there?" She called out sharply/ The last thing she wanted was company.

Gabby muttered something incomprehensible under her breath. She recognised the voice and she did not like the owner. Gabby entered the room that the voice had come from and muttered Lumos to provide them with some light. "It's me Vannah" Gabby answered, her voice low. Spells immediately began to run through her mind, but she wouldn't be the one to start the fight.

Vannah groaned. It was just her luck of all the people it had to be Gabby. "What are you doing here?" She snapped. "Isn't a little past your bedtime, child?" A smirk escaped from her lips.

Gabby loked at Vannah disdainfully. "I was curious" Gabby replied, her manner guarded. She totally ignored Vannah calling her a child as she was sued to and a retort would probably only put Vannah in even more of a sour mood.

"Curiousity killed the cat." Vannah said her smirk growing. She stood up and brushed the dirt off of her cloak. "are you alone?" Vannah asked with a hint of interest in her voice.

"I'm not a cat Vannah, and yes I am alone" Gabby hadn't told anyone of her coming as she though that they would either try and persuade her not to go, or insist on coming with her. She hadn't even left anyone a message, she hadn't been counting on meeting anyone, especially Vannah.

Vannah let out a low soft laugh. Perfect, she thought. "You know, children shouldn't go wandering into dark places. They never expect such...dangers to lurk there." Vannah said the last part slower.

Gabby grimaced slightly, Vannah was right, she shouldn't have come here without at least sending someone a message. "I'm not a child Vannah, I can look after myself now" Gabby's voice was even and clear, but on the inside she was trembling, she knew that if it came down to wands, she would be hard pressed to beat Vannah.

"Well, it's good you finally learned." Vannah said with a sarcastic laugh. She touched the tip of her wand and pulled her finger away before a single flame was produced. The wand did not burn nor was it harmed in any way. The flame gave off a dim light, but the way the flame flickered made Vannah's already cold face seem slightly creepy.

Gabby knew Vannah as trying to intimidate her. "A little show doesn't scare me Vannah" Gabby said. Gabby flicked her wand and the ball of light at the end of her wand grew bigger, lightening the room further.

Vannah blew the tip of her wand out. A smile crept across her face. It was satisfying knowing it was her wand that was free to act in seconds. "That doesn't mean I can't have a bit of fun."

"If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned" Gabby replied, using the old saying to mock Vannah, as she had done it to Gabby earlier. Gabby flicked her wand and the small orb of light that had been floating on the tip of her wand floated up and hung just above their heads in the middle of the room.

"Not if you know how to control it." Vannah said flicking her wand and dousing the light. She watched in amusement as the light slowly faded into nothing. It sounded as if Gabby was challenging and who was she to turn down such a tempting offer?
