Endlessly, She Said (Dru & Chase)

Dru wanted to meet his lips, wanted to let go one last time, but she couldn't, it would be too much for her. She pulled away from him, meeting his eyes for a second, that one look sending him everything she was feeling. Pain, anger, sadness, all melded into one look before she stood, "I can't," she said. "I have to go." She looked away from him, crossing her arms tightly around her again and walking down the stairs.

Chase didn't watch her walk away. He rested his elbows against his knees and lowered his head into his hands. He felt like he'd lost something, but couldn't pin it down. He was free now; shouldn't he be happy?
