Michael thought for a second, "Yeah, yeah, that's it. It's perfect for getting away." He had been in it a few times, to play his music, to draw, his eyes darkened at the memory of drawing in the room. That had been the time he had witnessed the girl cutting herself. "Though when someone follows you in uninvited it can be quite annoying."

Chase's eyebrows rose a bit at the thought. He'd definitely want a lock on the door of any room he required. He had a niggling thought about having followed Druscilla into the room, but that had worked out eventually, hadn't it? Chase glanced aside at Michael. "You ever...take girls in there?" he asked, since the advice had seemed been based on experience.

"Never took one in there," Michael said, rolling his eyes. "But I have spoken to a couple in there." Like Petra. He shivered slighly, the memory of her chilling him to the bone, she had been the bane of his existance, her and that dreadful Aggie girl. "Some of them, worse than that Savannah girl, one of them..." he trailed off. After a moment he shook his head, "That doesn't matter now though." He looked straight ahead, chewing on his cheek.

Chase nodded absently as he wondered if Michael was even into girls. He'd never really talked with someone who played for the other team, but the more he talked to Michael, the more he thought maybe he was now. After all, what kind of guy had no interest in girls? Hadn't Michael said he wouldn't get in Chase's way? He thought about asking if Michael had ever taken any guys in there, but decided it might sound like he was hitting on him. Chase shrugged it off. It wasn't his place to judge.
Chase turned his attention back to the conversation. "The past isn't worth thinking about," he said in agreement. "You've got to live for now, eh mate? It's all we've got." Tomorrow might never come, after all.

"But the past can haunt you," Michael said softly. "It can be hard to get by." He thought for a few seconds, allowing memories to surface he hadnt' thought about in a long time. "Though some things, some people make it easier. But I guess you're right," he said, looking over at Chase. "Don't think about it." But if you didn't confront it, how could you move away?

Though he'd agreed, Michael didn't look totally convinced. "Regret will suck the life right out of you," Chase said. "You can't change the past. All you can do is not screw up the same way twice." Unless it was worth it, he added silently.

Chase's statement brought a grin to Michael's face. "True, though sometimes you only get one chance, then you mess up once, and that's it, you've lost it." 'It' meaning quite a few things to Michael, mainly Dru's trust. Though he had also lost other things, other people, she burned deepest into his memory.

Chase shrugged at Michael's comment. He hadn't ever lost something he couldn't get back, or at least nothing he cared about enough to regret. He walked the line between right and wrong, stepped over once in a while when he was sure no one was looking, whether they knew he'd done it or not. "What'd you mess up?" Chase asked. It was obviously something that Michael couldn't get past, and Chase wondered what kinds of things people regretted, since he didn't do the same.

Michael stared at Chase, wondering if it was really worth talking about. Then he figured that half the school knew already, whatever kind of messed up version it may be. "I messed up," he said, sighing heavily, "The best thing that ever happened to me. A girl, lied to her, never told her what I was, and well...." he trailed off and rubbed his neck, "She found out the hard way." The image of her on the floor of the boat flashed across his mind.

Chase nodded slightly in commiseration. He wondered briefly if Michael had had a thing for the girl, or if she'd just been a friend. Maybe he lied to her about his preferences, he thought, though he was pretty sure most girls would just take that as a personal challenge to reform. Either way, it was a situation Chase had difficulty understanding. He didn't lie, he only avoided the entire truth. If girls didn't like what they heard about him, they would avoid him, so he didn't worry about it. Chase glanced aside at Michael. "You into girls?" he asked at last. "I know a few. Best way to get over one is to move on."

Michael looked at Chase in disbelief, "Yes, I'm into girls," he said, the look still on his face, had he really come off like that? He shook it off after a moment. "But I don't think I'm going to be looking for another one for a while yet, after Dru...." he trailed off, remembering.

Chase's look of vague interest didn't change, though his eyes immediately sparked with flame. "Dru?" he repeated, part of him wanting to deny that Dru could be Druscilla, and the other refusing to think about it. "That's the girlfriend?" he clarified, letting the other subject go completely for his interest in this one.

Michael looked at him funny, "Yeah, though I doubt she'll ever want to talk to me again." He paused, did he really want to know? "Do you know her?"

Chase took a moment to word his response, sure that he was heading into dangerous territory. "If she's the girl who runs the club in town, yeah, I know her." Chase unconsciously measured Michael up again as the usual feeling of competition with other guys not only appeared, but grew.

"Yeah, that's her," Michael said, wondering how Chase knew her, but then again, most people knew her, since most had been to the club. He chewed his lip for a second before asking the question burning in his mind, "How is she?"
