[Adara Snow]

Adara sat near the lake, in a patch of warm sunlight near a clump of trees. Her legs were tucked beneath her, and her cloak pooled on the ground around her as she brought out a worn cloth-bound book, its once brilliant decorative threading now faded to a dusky rose. Her lips curved at the corners as she lifted a startling-white feather quill and began to write.

I suppose I must feel free now, though I do not recall asking for such a gift...

Ryan was walking back from the forest, the only place he didnt feel alone, when he saw the girl that he had met at the pitch not to long ago. Ryan walked up to her "What are you writing?" he asked softly, not wanting to startle her.

Emilian had seen a new girl sitting by the lake and started to walk up to her, just as Ryan did the same. He watched the other guy with narrowed eyes but didn't change his path. "Probably nothing for you," he answered as he walked up.

Adara looked up from her book, her smile widening for Ryan a moment before she caught sight of the other boy. Her smile faltered just a bit at the unidentifiable air that clung to him, but she recovered herself quickly, and her smile returned. "I was writing about school," she confessed, oblivious to the dark undertone between the boys.

Ryan sighed and knew who it was and didnt look at him "Hello there Emilian."

"Hey, Ryan, how've you been?" he asked, smirking over the head of the girl, ignoring her for the moment. He wondered faintly how long it would take for Ryan to try and ruin his image in front of the girl, and if she would listen to Ryan or himself.

Ryan stood there "You can probably answer that question for yourself cant you?"

Adara watched in some confusion. She had finally realized that all wasn't well between the boys, but it was hard to say why. They both seemed polite, if a bit distant for people who knew one another. She closed her book quietly, hoping to remain unnoticed for the moment.

Emilian smiled at Ryan, "I can imagine," he said, before looking down at the tattered book the girl held. "Do you write a lot?" he asked, his mind quickly chosing to ignore Ryan and focus on the new girl. Briefly his mind flickered back to his and Lucretia's deal, but it faded away as soon as it came into focus.

Ryan looked at Adara "Dont talk to him, trust me."

Adara had smiled at the newer boy, her eyes brightening at his interest, but before she could reply, Ryan stopped her. Her smile faded, and she looked up at Ryan with genuine curiosity. He was her friend, and as her friend, she should trust him. She looked back at the other boy, helpless apology in her eyes. Her teeth began to worry her bottom lip, an unconscious gesture of insecurity.

Ryan looked at her "Trust me, he is not worth time and he could ruin your life. Just like he did mine."

"I didn't do anything to you," Emilian said. That much was true, he hadn't done anything directly to Ryan. "And I was just asking about something she's very obviously interested in." He looked down at the girl once more, as though still waiting for an answer, trying his best to resist the urge to just hex Ryan into oblivian.

Ryan looked at him for the first time "You know that even though you didnt do anything to me you screwed up my life, and if you want to do something to me go ahead, because i know you want to."

Adara's lips parted in a light gasp, and her gaze flew to Ryan's face. How could he say something so cruel? She looked aside at the other boy from beneath her lashes, trying not to show too much interest, for Ryan's sake. Even so, she couldn't help wondering what was going on.
