"You said something about studying," Chase said. He followed her gaze into the room he'd grown to memorize over his stay and released a long breath. "I want out of here," he growled under his breath. He felt trapped, even more so than he did every damn time he was reminded about that leash. Chase's eyes narrowed at that unwelcome thought.

"Yeah, I can imagine, at least when I was in here I could move around." Dru looked at him, seeing the expression on his face, but choosing not to comment on it. Her fingers traced over the lines of his hand like they had the last time she had been with him. "You should be out soon, it shouldn't take that much longer." But then again, the wounds he had were bad, and caused by some dark magic, so who knew how long it could take, what kind of scars they would leave?

Chase would have shifted at that reminder; he should be farther healed than he was. He decided that silence was the best course. If she hadn't asked him anything dangerous yet, he might just get out of this intact. But he hurt too badly to shift, so he remained still and diverted his gaze again. "I wouldn't know," he said at last. "I'm just here til they let me go."

"Shouldn't be too much longer," Dru repeated, watching him. She wanted to know why he kept looking away, why he was still in such bad shape when, with the nurse so qualified, he should have been nearly healed. To keep herself from asking she bit her lip, looking down at his hands. "Has she said anything about scars?"

Chase's lips thinned. "He didn't use any dark magic, but I'll probably end up with something," he said. His jaw tensed. "The shoulder is going to be the worst." Not least because of the exertion he'd put it through strangling Emilian, but that was a detail that didn't need spoken.

Dru's eyes trailed up to his shoulder, wanting to change the subject, but her mind drawing a blank. She hoped it wouldn't be too bad for him, that it wouldn't affect the motion of his arm or anything. She zoned out for just a moment, thinking, her eyes glassing over. "Will you be ok?" she asked finally, her eyes still on his shoulder. Some people dealt with scarring and things like that differently than others. Some let it lead their lives and it changed them. She thought that Chase would know what she meant. If he answered her, that would be a different story all together.

Chase's eyes met Dru's. "I'll be fine." It was just a scar, or a few scars. It's not like his face was mutilated. "I'll be fine," he repeated. The worst of it wasn't the pain, but the realization that he didn't know himself as well as he thought. Not that he'd ever really considered himself a cold-blooded killer, but he'd thought that, if the need arose, he could rise to any challenge. And now he doubted the need.

And there was the answer Dru had known was coming, even if she had hoped to have something more from him. What, she didn't know, she just wished something would be said to give them a basis for conversation other than the soon-to-be scars. She brought his hand up to her neck, nuzzling against it. "You know you're in the paper. In the gossip column." It was called gossip, but the 'rumors' it held were generally much too close for comfort to the truth.

Chase blinked, his attention drawn away from the feel of Dru to her words. He didn't read the paper, so he wouldn't know. "What'd they say?" he asked. He knew what kind of gossip was usually spread about him, but everything was different now, and he wondered what would be enough for Dru to have mentioned it. His mind jumped to the other visitors he'd had, then jumped away, sweeping those thoughts under the metaphorical rug. She couldn't have heard anything bad, or she wouldn't have put off mentioning it.

"About the fight. Apparently you and him are big topics. Issue before last it talked about how hot you are, about how every girl would be lucky to 'spend one night with' you as one person said." Dru grinned, at first reading what other girls thought about him had been strange, but then it had given her a sense of pride, especially since she was mentioned as being with him. "And then last issue it had that you two are in here." Along with a list of every girl he had kissed, but she glossed over that part.

Chase's lips spread into a self-satisfied smirk. Not that the ego stroking was needed, but he definitely enjoyed it. "So what do you think? Is one night that lucky, or does it take more?" Chase's eyes grew smoky again, and he shifted his hand, fingers stroking lightly against Dru's neck. He'd been in here far too long, and his body's demands were getting harder to put aside.

Dru smiled at him, subconsciously tilting her head to let his fingers have more room. "One night's enough to get addicted," she said, remembering. "But nothing compares to knowing that there will be another. Or that you're all mine." At the beginning she had hated all the looks and whispers, but she had gotten to where she enjoyed them. She liked the fact that they looked at her and said she's the one that has him. Who said she couldn't have a bit of an ego as well?

Chase's smirk widened at Dru's declaration, and his fingers curved around the back of her neck, drawing her down for another kiss. He rather enjoyed the possessive note in her voice when she'd said all mine. Pandora could take her trash talk and shove it up that teasing little ass of hers. Chase couldn't put his finger on it, but there was something Dru had that he hadn't found elsewhere, and until he'd figured it out, he was going to take what he could and enjoy it.

Dru realized how much she had been looking forward to going to the club with Chase that day when she returned the kiss. When she pulled back she looked into his eyes, her own sparkling. "When you're out of here we're going to the club." A grin pulled up the corners of her mouth, "And I'll have a look at those scars." Her voice was light and slightly mischievous, giving away the images running through her mind.

Chase's eyes sparked, and his lips curved into a wicked grin, his mind supplying images of its own. "I'll look forward to it," he said. "I'm already liking your bedside manner." God, he wanted out of the hospital now.
