Gavin didn't really have much of an issue talking about things with someone. Talking about his life had been fairly commonplace in his old schools. Preparing for the next sport season or the next term, discussing interpersonal relationships within the team...these were all normal things that were required to ensure things went smoothly. It shouldn't be any different talking to a counselor about guys.
So why was he nervous? Perhaps it was simply because he wasn't used to this and had no experience. He swallowed and knocked on the door to the counselor's office, not even an hour after his encounter with Castiel. It had been a busy day, but he needed to get something, however small, figured out or he wouldn't have been able to sleep for the thinking.

Kane invited his visitor in with his usual polite greetings and disarming smile. "Have a seat," he said, closing the door behind them. "What's on your mind?"

Gavin took a few moments to settle himself into a chair before he spoke. "I woke up this morning having never been kissed," he said. "Now I've kissed two different guys. One of them went ah...a bit further than a kiss." He leaned forward over his knees and brushed his hair above his eyebrows. At this point, the hair pretty much stayed above the line of its own accord, but it was habit now. He didn't quite meet the counselor's eyes.

"There are a lot of feelings that can bring up," Kane said. "Confusion, nerves, maybe wondering if you did the right thing?" Guilt, but Kane wouldn't suggest that. "Was it all consensual?"

"Yes," Gavin said, nodding. "Though I'm unsure if I would have gone so far had the second guy not been so confident. I don't mean it in a bad way, he was just more experienced." And now he was speaking of confidence as though it could be a bad thing. Today really had jumbled up his thoughts.

"Was he confident or pushy? There is a difference. Tell me anything you feel comfortable with. Nothing leaves this room without your permission."

"I...I don't know," Gavin said truthfully. "I didn't feel pushed, not until after. But even after, it isn't as though I didn't want it...I don't know if I felt guilty because I wasn't certain or because I'd kissed Andy before." His eyes widened and he decided it was likely a good idea to give names, especially when the man said everything was secret. "Andy was the first guy, Castiel was the second."

Kane nodded, as though he didn't recognize both names. He knew Andy James as a foster student who, much like Hyacinth Duprel, was receiving special attention in order to get caught up. Castiel Catalyst seemed like a model student, aside from being caught disheveled and doused in alcohol once.
"Let's start at the beginning. You're a new student, new to magical school, and that can be overwhelming. How did you meet Andy?"

"I was going out to explore the grounds, and I saw him in the Entrance Hall," Gavin said. "He was watching people. I do that a lot, so I figured talking to him would be okay. We went to Hogsmeade." It was a simplified account, but not so much that it ignored any significant points. He still couldn't believe so much had happened in such a short amount of time.

Kane nodded. "Go on," he prompted.

"Well...after a bit he kissed me...and then when we were back on the grounds we kissed again, only I pulled away," Gavin said. "Then he ran off, and I'm not sure why, because I didn't mean anything against him..." He pressed his face into his hands, unable to look at the counselor.

That explained a lot of what had happened later. "I can't speak for Andy's motives, but he might have been feeling the same kinds of conflicting emotions," Kane said, looking at Gavin with concern. "Everyone deals with those emotions differently. From what you've told me so far, it doesn't sound like you did anything wrong."

Gavin looked up, but still felt uncertain. "Castiel did say that Andy had run off from him, too," he said. There, now Kane knew that extra little wrench in the situation, too. "Should I have tried to stop him and explain?" He couldn't have explained; he didn't even understand all of the emotions and feelings.

It looked like Kane should get Andy in, too. He knew the boy had a troubled past, but easing him into education had been the school's first priority.
"When emotions are high, sometimes the best thing to do is to cool off separately. Remember that you can't control the actions of others."

"Well, I cooled off by going and snogging another guy who's apparently also interested in Andy," Gavin said, letting his confusion take over and cause some unnecessary snark. He swallowed and lowered his eyes. Sorry. He threaded his fingers together. "I have no idea what to say to him the next time I see him. Either of them."
