Castiel shrugged. "Maybe," he said. "You ought to send him some. And a copy of Hogwarts: A History. It's pretty boring, but it's got all the stuff about why the school is important and all the Headmasters and everything. I've got a newer edition, one that has Headmistress Hells in it, but I bet you can get one secondhand for cheap." He wasn't willing to give up his copy, not with the notes he'd made in the margins and the sticky notes poking out the sides, but he couldn't see the point of buying a brand new book like that just to mail it to Japan.

Mari wrinkled his nose. "It'd have to be a second hand one in like, perfect condition," he said. He'd prefer that Seiji somehow remained naive to the amount of money he had sitting around to use. "I mean, I can't send him something with writing all over it and ripped up pages and stuff." Especially not if Seiji wanted to show it to his parents.

Castiel chewed his lip for a moment. He looked over the box Mari had gotten, probably hand-crafted and filled with little edible pieces of art. "I'll help you get it," he decided. "If we can't find a really nice used one, we'll get a new one and I'll tell my mom I lost mine." He'd been spending a lot of money since he'd been in Europe, but she hadn't complained yet, and he hadn't gotten any notes from his dad.

Mari hated that he never had all the extra money Castiel had. Even now, though the new job his mother had made a lot more money, things were tight because of the move. It would take a while for his family to regain the money the move had cost them. "Thanks, hopefully I'll be able to get it myself, though," he said. Still, he smiled brightly, hoping his thoughts didn't show through.

Castiel nodded, but was prevented from saying anything just then by the appearance of a silver teapot and two ceramic teacups on saucers. The waitress set down the butterbeers as well, then disappeared again. Castiel brought out his wand to remove the teapot's lid. "Put some in," he told Marius. "We'll have to wait a few minutes, but we can read the notes, figure out what that other one we ate was made of."

Mari opened the little packet and measured out the correct amount of leaves into each cup before they added the water. "This has got pictures of what the different candies are," he said, sliding the notes to where Castiel could see them easily. "I think this is seriously one of the best things I've ever gotten through the mail."

Castiel nodded his agreement. "It's completely amazing," he said. He only looked at his teacup a moment before leaning to see the notes better. "The one we had was square and a really light pink," he said. "I think it's this one. Mochigashi. I've got no idea what that means." Maybe the notes wouldn't help as much as he'd hoped.

Mari laughed a little. "Yeah...well it was amazing, so that's what matters, right?" As long as it was delicious he supposed it didn't really matter what exactly they were made out of. "I think I might like it better not knowing which ones are made out of beans." The thought of sweet beans was still just really weird and he wasn't sure if he was into the idea.

"Maybe," Castiel said, "but if you're going to be all fancy, you should write a thank-you note and tell him which ones you like the best." He gave the box an envious look. That was definitely fancy. Maybe he should send something fancy to Lani. Maybe if it was fancy enough, she'd stop acting like she was better than him just because she'd been invited to the party.

"Yeah...oh!" Mari reached into a pocket and pulled out the stub of a pencil, so he could mark down the ones he liked most. "There, now I can write and stuff." He had no idea how he was going to manage living up to this with whatever he sent back to Seiji and was starting to feel almost overwhelmed. It wasn't that the excitement was gone, but he worried about being disappointing. "That one was really good." He put a mark beside of it.

"It was," Castiel agreed. "Oh look, it says that one has cherry in it!" He pointed at the paper, then drew his brows together as he tried to find the matching candy in the box. How had they made so many different kinds? "It can't be bad if it has cherry in it."

"Well, fruit and berries and stuff are kind of awesome anyway," Mari said, reaching for his cup with one hand. His eyes scanned the box and pointed to the second level where the candy Castiel was looking for sat. "There. You take the first bite this time." He'd had every intention of sharing with Castiel to start with and he didn't want to hog anything.

Castiel gave a little smile of excitement and reached for the treat. He showed Mari just how pretty it was before taking a bite and handing over the rest of it. "Mmmm," was the best comment he could make. Soon their cups were filled with tea and leaves instead of leaves and water, and adding that in only made it better. Everything complemented everything else in a way that was hard to describe. "This is even better than just eating candy," Castiel said. It was an experience. "You have to get with Seiji, because I love him too."

Mari grinned before he popped the sweet into his mouth. His eyes closed and he sighed happily through his nose. "That one gets two marks on the paper," he said once he was finished with it. He took a sip from his cup. "I did really like him, I thought he was a lot of fun. It'd be cool to have a boyfriend again. I hope you find someone, too, 'cause I don't want you to be alone."

"I was alone anyway, except for you," Castiel said. He hadn't felt too terribly left-out when Mari had been with Indigo, but that had only been a couple months anyway. "This'll be better. I won't have to feel guilty if I flirt with someone, or if she kisses me." That was a better way to remember things, that they'd kissed him, even if he'd kissed them first. "This tea is really good too."
