"I guess," Silver agreed. He paused when the waitress arrived to order his butterbeer. "Do you want anything?" he asked Ayla. He'd expected to buy for both of them since it was a date, but she already had a drink.

"Another drink would be nice," Ayla said. Once they were alone again she smiled almost sheepishly. "I got here early, needed somethin' to do with my hands." She pushed the empty glass to the side. She wouldn't admit to any nerves, but that didn't mean they weren't there. "My nails probably wouldn't have survived otherwise," she added, smiling.

Silver blinked in surprise. She hadn't said the words I'm nervous, but he picked it up all the same. He knew all the signs, even if he hadn't noticed them before, and softened at the thought. "I promise I don't bite," he teased lightly.

"Oh, well, there's nothing wrong with a bit o' biting," Ayla teased right back. That sent her thoughts off on a fun little tangent. Maybe Silver wasn't always such a shy proper guy, it was enough to keep her mind occupied for a few minutes. A crooked half-smile spread over her lips and her eyes sparkled.

Silver blushed a little, grateful for the interruption as the waitress stopped by. She dropped off their butterbeers, and he realized as the witch walked away that he had to rejoin the conversation. "I've thought about a couple things," he said. "I guess I could teach." Being amongst the books all day sounded amazing, but Hogwarts had a librarian and he wasn't sure about moving. He was comfortable at Hogwarts.

"Your family's gonna take over the school?" Ayla teased. He had two relatives who teachers and if he joined it would be quite the sight. "You guys need a Hufflepuff, though, just to make it all fair." Teaching was far from one of the top things Ayla wanted to do with her life, but she figured Silver would be good at it, considering how their study session had gone.

Silver's lips quirked, but he shook his head. Any other family they had would go straight to Slytherin, from what he knew. Dad had been a Slytherin. That made a lot more sense now than it used to. "There's a wizarding University somewhere," he said. "It's only been around a few years and I don't know much about it, but..." I kinda like school. No, he wasn't saying that. "Um, it would... be something to do."

Ayla laughed lightly, "You Ravenclaws are an odd bunch, you know? Wouldn't hurt to give it a try, give you some more time to figure out what the hell you wanna do." She had seen the leaflets and things laying around the common room about the school, but hadn't given much thought to it. More schooling wasn't something she had the urge to partake in.

"Muggles go to university all the time," Silver said. "It's not that weird." And yet he was embarrassed at having even mentioned it. Maybe he should have tried answering her biting comment instead.

Ayla's smile weakened and she looked down at her bottle. "I didn't mean anythin' by it, I was just teasing a little. Everyone's got their thing, I mean I'm weird, some skater chick lookin' to be a model?" Her lips curved again and she peeked up at him. It would probably be a good idea to learn how to keep her mouth shut.

"No, it's okay," Silver said. He'd stepped in it again. How had he done it? What had he said? "There's nothing wrong with skaters, there were a lot of them at my old school." And there was definitely nothing wrong with models. "There's nothing weird... you know?" Nothing except his difficulty stringing sentences together, but somehow he was on a date anyway.

Ayla couldn't help but laugh and propped her head up with one hand. Maybe they were trying too hard. "Everyone's a little weird, nothing wrong with it. If everyone was all normal and bland the world would be boring." She picked up her bottle and took a drink. "What would you study if you went to university?" At least the concept of university wasn't foreign to her.

"Hm," Silver hummed, giving that some thought. His eyes unfocused ever so slightly as he thought of the pamphlet he'd seen, imagining the layout and mentally reading it over. "Maybe enchantment," he said. "They teach Occlumency, and you can't get that at Hogwarts. I don't have any reason to use Legilimency and Occlumency, but they'd be worth checking out."

"That's hard magic," Ayla said. "It'd be impressive to be able to do it. I mean it's not used much but it'd be a hell of a thing to pop out with. You know, you're with some people and you get to be all yeah well I can read minds." She grinned at the thought. It probably wouldn't get the amusing reaction she imagined in real life, but she still liked thinking it.

Silver shook his head at the thought, but his lips quirked all the same. "It'd give me more time to figure out what I want to do," he said. "I thought I'd move back to California, but my family's all out here now." None of them seemed to be going anywhere, either. Dare and Michael were well set-up at Hogwarts, and he couldn't imagine their dad leaving after he'd left California in the first place.
