Jory shrugged, "I dunno. I've been up at the Astronomy tower so much I'm surprised I knew when break started." Well, that was an exaggeration, but he had been spending a lot of time in the Astronomy tower, and with the Divination professor, and Runes, and Arithmancy... "Not that it's going to be easier this term. You'll have to come see my rooms sometime!" he said, looking over at Indigo.

Indigo looked aside at Jory, then away again, flushing. He pressed his lips together and nodded, then glanced aside at Jory, then quickly behind them. All at once, he leaned over and pressed his lips to Jory's, then backed off, stuffing his hands into his pockets and looking away. "I just... wanted to see, sorry..." And his heart was racing.

That was unexpected. Jory's eyes widened in surprise and he paused in his steps. "I...it's okay, but I can't, you know? I mean, if I wasn't...but I am..." As long as he was working at the school it wasn't possible, and he wasn't sure how long that would be. Why couldn't things ever just be simple? But Indigo was just curious, anyway, right? Some thought came to him, something someone had said, though he couldn't remember who. Maybe you need a friend that becomes more.

"I know," Indigo said, stopping just ahead of Jory. "I know, and I'm sorry, I mean... I know you can't, and I don't think I meant it like that, but just..." He couldn't look up from the toes of his shoes, increasingly damp from snow. "I'd thought about it... sort of... and now I did it, and like... can we just forget it?" And he'd turned into an idiot with Jory now, somehow.

However short, that was the first kiss Jory had had since Lyric had shoved him against the wall and kissed him, and that had been the first kiss since the last time Lyric had kissed him before leaving. It would be hard to just forget it. He was really, really wishing Indigo had told him about this all before. Why did it have to come out now, of all times? "I wish you'd told me sooner," was all he could think to say. Even if it was all just curiosity, his mind had taken it and ran, coming up with a hundred different what ifs.

Indigo gave a helpless shrug. "I didn't know," he said. Not really, anyway. There was all that crap about the confusion of adolescence, and he'd just figured it would all pass when he got old enough, since that was what was supposed to happen, right? And then Mari had kissed him, and everything he'd thought he knew was wrong, and it was too late. "I'm sorry." Indigo took a step away from Jory. Maybe he should just go back to the castle alone.

Jory took a couple of quick steps to catch up with Indigo. "It's okay, you're fine, you don't really need to say sorry," he said. It was times like these where he really wished he was better at the whole social interaction thing. "I'm sorry that I can't do anything. I mean, I'd love to give into your explorations and fulfill your fantasies, but I can't," he said. An almost smile pulled at his lips at the attempt at breaking the sudden uncomfortable tension.

Indigo reddened at Jory's attempt, the words doing nothing to ease his suddenly tense muscles. Give into your explorations and fulfill your fantasies. No, those weren't exactly calming words. "I know you can't, I'm..." sorry. "I'm going back to school." I'm sorry. He shouldn't have tried that, but it had been driving him crazy since Jory had sat down with him at the Three Broomsticks! "I'll see you around."

How could some people just know how to figure out situations like these? It was so frustrating watching Indigo walk on, but Jory couldn't think of what to say to make it better. "Yeah, I'll see you," he said. There wasn't much of anyone he could talk to about it, either. He'd written Eros often enough to keep in touch, but the man was surely busy. Hyacinth...was Hyacinth. And if he talked to Kane he'd just be told what he already knew. He shoved his hands roughly into his pockets and stopped walking. Sitting alone in his living room didn't sound very appealing right then.
