Castiel nodded. It wasn't really nice to kiss someone and ditch them. He paused in picking up his fork at that thought. Wasn't that what he intended to do to Ayla? Bother. If he ran into her, he'd just tell her he had a girlfriend. He hated that his conscience had caught up with him.
He turned his mind back to Mari and the conversation. "I guess he knows you'll talk to him, then. And he'll have to see you again, you're in the same House." Castiel paused, then gave Marius a sidelong glance. "Plus, he kissed you back. And touched you here," he teased, poking Marius lightly, "and here," he added, ruffling his hair.

Mari laughed and ducked away from the teasing touches. "Yeah, he did," he said. He was worried about what it might mean for his and Castiel's relationship if he did end up in something with Indigo, who seemed a little weirded out by their closeness, but it was too soon to even consider that something might happen, so he put the thought out of his mind. "Maybe I'll see him today, so I can at least give him his stuff back."

Castiel nodded. "I've got to find the owlery today so I can send my letters. Is it bad I want classes to start already? I don't want homework or anything, but it's like we're living in Cauldron." Well, they were living at Hogwarts, which he still couldn't believe, even though he'd never even seen whatever food he was currently eating before.

"I know! It's ridiculous, I mean, we were in the train compartment with Jory and Indigo, and lots of the professors have been in it before...it's super cool," Mari said, his expression bright once again. "I need to go to the owlery, too, I have a letter for my brother." He had no clue where the owlery was, though. Maybe a day spent wandering the castle would do them both good.

Castiel didn't comment on Mari's letter, beyond a brief nod. His friend's brother was a constant disappointment, but Castiel didn't have the heart to smash it into his friend's brain that the guy was a jerk, he would always be a jerk, and Mari should just stop trying. Castiel loved Mari's optimism far too much to crush it.
"Let's eat and get out of here," Castiel said.
