"Then why the guilt?" Kane asked. "If you made the right decision, and in the end he's getting help, why don't you feel better about it?"

"Because I was selfish! Trent needed some help and I told him to leave!" Keith said, glaring over at Kane. There, was that the answer the man was looking for? It made sense. Keith could have done something more, but it had been easier not to, or so he thought. Now here he was having some guy who would never have talked to him otherwise poking and prodding.

"Even divination can't tell you exactly what will happen based on your decisions," Kane said gently. "Your turning him away alone didn't cause his breakdown."

Keith sighed and slumped further in the chair. "But letting him in could have prevented it, not that I could have done much with Rowan there." It was horrible to think of, but as guilty over the decision as he felt, he still didn't wish he had kicked Rowan out. That just made him feel worse.

"What were you discussing with Rowan?" Kane asked, leaving the post at that.

"Our relationship," Keith said. "That doesn't matter anymore because he's married but he doesn't care that he's married and it's so damn confusing." He didn't know how to deal with that whole issue. It was strange to ignore a wife, but the whole situation was strange. He wrinkled his nose; he had told more than he had intended to.

"Do you care that he's married?" Kane asked. He saw Rowan regularly, but this was about Keith.

"Normally? Yes. I mean, someone being married? But it's such a weird-" Keith stopped and looked over at Kane again, eyes slightly narrowed. "I don't know how much you know." And he didn't know how much Rowan wanted people to know, though he really doubted that Rowan or Shianni wanted the world to know they were only together because of a love potion gone wrong.

"And because of confidentiality, you won't," Kane said, "but the same applies to you. Nothing leaves this room without your written permission unless it affects someone's immediate safety, such as suicidal thoughts."

That was frustrating. "If there's no reason for them to be married, if there's no urge at all to be married, if he doesn't want it then...then it changes things," Keith said. And if the woman would just let Rowan go it would all be easy. Or at least back to normal, anyway.

"Does it change things for both of you?" Kane asked.

"He acted like he just wanted to pick up where we left off," Keith said, aware he hadn't even explained what their relationship had consisted of. "Said he couldn't do it if I was having sex with someone else, though." It looked like that wasn't going to be an issue now.

"Why don't you tell me about your relationship," Kane suggested. "How close were you, what you wanted out of it, and where you left off. Where you want things to go."

Keith shook his head. "Man, I can't tell you when the whole damn thing still confuses the hell out of me," he said. "I was close to him, we talked, we'd go out, I mean whatever. It was fun, I liked being with him."

"And how does his marriage or your relationship with someone else affect that?" Kane asked.
