Keith couldn't help but feel a little happy at visiting Rowan at home, even if it wasn't the first time he had done it. It felt like he was getting a glimpse into something private that he normally would miss. He still doubted that he could get Rowan to go out with him, Dare, and Michael, but at least he would get to spend a little time with Rowan. Perhaps there shouldn't have been such a smile on his face as he knocked on the door, but just the thought of seeing Rowan brought a smile.

Rowan actually recognized Keith's knock this time, and though he heaved a sigh at the interruption, he abandoned his game of wizard's chess and padded across to the door. He paused, then decided not to bother pulling on his robes, despite the slim chance that it could still be a student. He opened the door.
"Well, you're in a good mood," he observed. He glanced into the otherwise deserted corridor, then stepped back, gesturing for Keith to come in.

"Of course I'm in a good mood," Keith said, stepping in. "I get to see you, and that hasn't been happening often lately. Hope it's okay to stop by, I know there's not been a lot of free time recently." He hated the thought of pushing himself on Rowan, but he was dying to spend time with him.

"No, I was actually taking a break." The assignments he'd been going over earlier were in neat stacks on one end of the coffee table, and the chess set was in prime view, in front of the pile of pillows on the couch where Rowan had been sitting. He had tea today instead of water, a narrow pot of shining opaque glass in a dusky green, part of a set he'd actually bothered to use when alone in his quarters. He slid his wand free to summon another cup and saucer. "Would you like some tea?"

"Sure," Keith said, removing his shoes so he could continue further in. "How are things going? That student of mine that wanted the extra work has been a godsend in the higher level greenhouses." It was a hassle to take care of everything himself, but he had never found someone whose abilities he trusted enough to help out until this one.

"Excellent," Rowan said. It was always exciting to find a student with so much promise. "Nothing exceptional in my classes," he went on. "I almost miss the idiocy." He gave his living room a quick look, but everything was in place, and he'd actually set out his shells on one of the shelves behind the couch only a week ago. Perhaps part of him had realized Keith would be visiting again.

"Hush, don't say that, who knows what'll happen to make you regret saying it," Keith said with a teasing note in his voice. He glanced around the room, and the sight of the shells made him smile yet again. "I had a girl run off screaming from my creeping vine the other day." That was about the most interesting thing that had happened in his classes. He debated sitting, but decided it was probably best to wait on a cue from Rowan.

"That vine is trouble," Rowan said. He moved to sit in his recently-vacated nest of pillows on the couch, then set the cup he'd summoned on the table to be filled. "How do you take it?" he asked, looking up. He really had nothing of interest to say, having done little lately that wasn't school-related.

"It doesn't really matter to me," Keith said, shrugging. He took a moment to think before sitting by Rowan. "You wouldn't want to go out this weekend, would you?" he asked. It didn't even have to be to a party, there were plenty of things they could do without having a big group, especially since he was getting more used to the Knight Bus and apparating.

"I don't have any plans," Rowan said, looking at Keith as though he could guess what the man was thinking. "Why? What are you doing?" He suddenly realized that it had been weeks since the last time they'd gone out. Well, it had been enough fun to last a while, though they were overdue for something else.

"I don't really have any ideas, but I'd like to take you out. Before the month's out I'm treating Dare to a movie for his birthday, but it's not really a normal movie. You could come if you want," Keith said, even if he still doubted that Rowan would say yes. "I'd like it to be just us sometime, though." That was important.

Not really a normal movie. No, Rowan wasn't particularly interested in helping celebrate Dare's birthday, and he gave a small shake of his head. He had no issues with just the two of them going out. "When you think of something, let me know. My friends aren't doing anything, and they're the ones who tell me when things are happening."

"Well, do you want to do dinner, or a movie...or a club or something?" Keith didn't want to just dictate where they went and what they did. "When's the last time you went to one of those rave things?" Even if Keith didn't partake, he had enjoyed himself that night, what with Rowan giving him dancing tips and such.

"Not since September," Rowan answered. He refreshed his cup of tea and introduced a bit of sugar to the mix, a smooth, flowery blend, before lifting it for a brief sip. "If you want to go somewhere, just pick a place," he said. He had enough to think about lately without picking through all the places he'd been to decide which one to visit, and would just as gladly stay home in the quiet over his chess board or a book.

"You're not being very helpful," Keith pointed out with a light playful shove to Rowan's shoulder. "Rather I just say meet me in the great hall at seven and drag you somewhere? From my experience, me choosing what we do doesn't typically end well." Rowan didn't melt into his interests as well as Keith melted into Rowan's.
