Chase's eyes blazed as he looked down at Storm, unable, however he might try, to imagine what she was thinking. Her goal was clear enough, and he wondered if it was right, wondered if the risk would turn out for the best. He knew that Dru wouldn't be able to accept it if he lost Carolynn and offered for Storm, knew that she accepted things as they were because his fiancée was more theory to her than reality. She had left him once because he had been weak and given in, and try as he might to rationalize it in his own mind, he doubted that knowing he'd be happier with Storm than Carolynn would ease the burn.
But he found that he couldn't say no, couldn't discourage her. He wanted her more deeply than he wanted Carolynn, no matter how violently he lusted for the woman. If Dru wanted him badly enough, he reasoned, then she would forgive him again. She'd be losing nothing this way, only gaining a less often frustrated lover in the process.
Storm had to know. There could be no secrets if she wanted to do this. It wasn't an unusual situation, not really. His father kept a few women at any given time, but the idea rankled at him. He doubted that either of them would be pleased. "Dru is my mistress," he whispered. "I will not hold you to your word if that's too much."

Storm knew he was following her on her trail of thinking and it only caused her to hold him that much tighter, would it be possible? To get the other woman out of the equation?
She heard, and as much as she wished it wasn't true, it was the reality of things. Storm knew that it wasn't uncommon for men in their society to have mistresses and personally, Storm thought she'd marry some old powerful and rich guy surrounded by women, hearing Chase's honesty Storm could only her head in understanding. "I'd rather have you sometimes than not have you at all." if she was going to have to live with Dru being the other woman, then she didn't care. As long as Storm could be in his life, it was enough.

Chase's lungs tightened with the words, and he lifted a hand to brush lightly at Storm's hair, to sweep it back before trailing softly against her cheek. He wanted to kiss her, to seal this devil's bargain they'd hardly spoken aloud, but understood nonetheless. He couldn't, though. It all had to be done properly. As of now, she could only be a friend, an acquaintance from school. He would think, he would watch, and do whatever he could without making himself obvious.
"Are you sure?" he asked, more than that simple question in his eyes. Did she realize the position she'd be in if they did this? He would offer for her, and that would mean a loss of whatever freedom she had now. If she had run and left it all, it would mean coming back, because he didn't intend to leave Society forever.

Storm had decided as soon as the idea formed in her mind that she was positive. How many times had she sat in her room thinking of him with a glass of strong alcohol in hand. How many times had she gone to bed picturing his arms around her frame.... yes she was sure and her eye's said it all.
Storm knew she would be giving up all the traveling she did, knowing that she might have to take a step back from her business and have someone else handle it, and yes she would be submitting to life that she had avoided this whole time. Chase was worth it though, the emotional exchange they had in the past, she could never recreate with anyone else and no way was she going to let this slip by her. Parting her lips to verbalize it, she stroked his jaw with her thumb, for now it would have to be enough. "I'm positive."

Chase wanted badly to kiss her then, but held himself back, a skill he certainly hadn't had the last time they'd spoken. He wanted to pull her closer, but in the end, his hands firmed for only the briefest moment before he stepped back.
"We should think," he said. "We'll meet again to talk, but not here. The Prophet would have a field day." Their meeting would probably make the gossip column as it was, and to allow it to go on much longer would only increase the danger. Soon enough it would be safe, he told himself. They only had to be patient.

Storm wanted to have him close for longer, but she knew that this would come to an end. Watching him take a step back, she understood that if this was to work out, she could be in the warmth of his arms again and there would be more then, she'd just have to wait. It took all her energy to not close the gap again and kiss him; she longed for the warm feeling of his lips against her own it had been too long.
Storm nodded her head, she knew that her coming here would mean having her name in the paper again, but she wasn't going to worry about that she had to keep focused on what was at hand. "Soon enough..." she didn't have to continue her sentence, but saying it was comfort enough. Taking a step back as well, her eyes traced his face the curve of his lips, the angle of his jaw and his burning red eyes. Soon enough, she would be able to touch him however and whenever she wanted because Storm was determined to make this work. "I'll see you soon then." Making her way to the door, she couldn't stop looking at him, yearning in her eyes. With her hand on the door handle she nodded her head and turned to leave. Opening the door she looked down both sides of the hallway seeing that it was empty she shut the door and hurriedly made her way out... already thinking through the next possible steps which might eventually have to include 'daddy-dearest'.
