What was he going to do, attack her? Grab her by the arm and throw her out. No, he may be angry, but there was only one person he hated enough to hurt.... unless. Storm couldn't understand why or what she was doing wrong. "Chase, please just listen. I'm not asking you to do anything for me, and I'm not asking anything of you." she was pleading now, wanting him to hear her out. For him to actually listen to what she was saying, not selecting things that furthered his reasoning.
This was all so... confusing. Storm wracked through her brain, what could she say that would allow for him to see that nothing was a lie, that everything she felt for him and every touch they had shared meant something. Hell, she didn't want him believing that she was fake the whole time. "Chase you're not listening! Can't you see that I didn't come here for a conflict to arise, that I'm here for you." she was being selfish coming here, but for once in a while she felt like he was worth it, that he deserved to know. "I was scared of you Chase! And I'm even more terrified of you now." why couldn't he understand that? She was scared that she would get too attached and he'd walk out the next day. She was scared that she would be the next toy thrown out like nothing. And she was scared that perhaps she wanted him so much, but could never have him, not even a tiny portion.

"I've been listening, Storm!" Chase said harshly. "And you aren't saying anything I haven't heard before! You're not saying anything, just twisting what I say. Are you here for me or not, because you've said both. Stop lying, stop hiding, and say something or get out!" His hands flexed with the desire to grab her, to throttle sense into her, to pull her against him and shut her up the best way he knew how, to throw her out, anything to end this. Everything he'd worked to become had fallen apart at just a few words from her and he was back then again, desperate and lost, furious with life, with himself, and he didn't want that. He'd barely survived it the first time.

Storm paused, she wanted to show him how she felt, desperately wanting to let him know that she regretted her decision. What could she say that would help him see that she wanted nothing more then show him that everything she felt for him then still existed now, despite how long it had been. Storm came closer to him, a very dangerous move, but would he really hurt her?
"Chase, please... I'm asking you to believe me. To believe that I never meant to hurt you and I thought I was making things easier by walking out." she was speaking softer, being firm only angered him. "I'm sick of regretting my decisions and the only thing I never regretted was being with you." had she hurt him that much? Did she hurt to the extent that he could no longer believe her?

Chase was silent, fuming as he tried to process what she was saying. He didn't want to believe her—it was easier without her—but it was impossible to fully convince himself. He tried not to think about how much sense this made when he paired it with the Storm he'd thought he knew once and struggled to hold on to anger. He wanted to fight her, but for the moment was at a loss for words.

Storm waited, wanting him to say anything, but he wasn't going to. Taking a step closer, she wanted to reach out and just take his hand in her own, but she couldn't move too fast, she wanted him to understand first. "Chase, I messed up, but I don't want to mess up again. I focused my life on working hard, all so I could forget this place." so she could forget him, but that didn't work very well because all those nights when she was left alone at home, she couldn't get Chase off of her mind.
Storm reached out, her fingers grazing against his arm, resting there gently, she prayed he wouldn't push her away, she wanted to make sure that she would not a single moment in her life, and she didn't want to regret coming here.

Chase's muscles tensed beneath Storm's fingers, her touch burning through the layers of heavy robes and thin cloth beneath. They'd only been together once, years ago, and he reminded himself of that, reminded himself that there hadn't been anything between them to miss, despite the feelings that assailed him. He'd been comforting her that night, ready to leave Dru for her until he'd found out about Emilian and everything had fallen apart. "What do you want?" he asked softly.

Storm was expecting him to pull away, to push her off and tell her to leave once more, but he didn't. She wanted to answer that question in so many ways, she wanted him to forgive her, she wanted to let him know that the biggest mistake had been walking away. But instead she came closer, head bowed in submission, she didn't know what else to say and as she looked up, her eyes looked up into his own. "You." it was all she needed to say. Storm brought her other hand up, resting it gently on his abdomen.

Chase's steely gaze didn't give the barest flicker to that pale hand against his dark clothes, trapped in Storm's eyes, trying to read her. He didn't want to believe her, but God, when she looked at him like that, it was impossible to see the lies, the tricks, everything he'd convinced himself was the reality of her. His eyes smoldered as thoughts he shouldn't have had swirled into his mind and he tried to find another interpretation for that simple admission.
You.
"I'm engaged," Chase said, as though that were the answer to everything. In a way it was; he wanted her, he'd always wanted her, but it seemed she'd only ever wanted him—really wanted him—when he was with someone else. He couldn't be with her when he was engaged to Carolynn, it wouldn't be fair to either of them. "I don't want her like I wanted you," he whispered, the confession cutting to the deepest part of him. "But it's too late."

Storm heart was beating faster, she could hear it in his voice, the old Chase, the one she had been yearning for for so long. Last time, he was dating Dru, now he was engaged. Storm would have pulled away, but not this time. She wasn't going to live with the idea of 'what if' anymore, no more regrets.
His words, they were driving her insane, he wanted her, and heck she wanted him so bad now that she was here, right in front of him. Storm believe that even though she had distanced herself, she never stopped wanting him. "Don't say that Chase."her voice barely above a whisper. Storm leaned in, resting her head on his chest, he was always gentle with her, while most thought Chase was this bad boy who had his way with women, she always knew he was more than what the media painted him to be. "I never stopped wanting you." her hands came up, grasping each arm, she didn't want to let go.... not this time.

Chase's brows drew together slightly, breaking the mask of stolid uncaring he'd worked so hard to wear, and at the soft pressure of her, his hands rose beyond his control to slide around her. He closed his eyes, holding her close, but allowing himself nothing else, not even the words he knew he should speak, and most especially not the words he longed to give her. She knew, she had to know, and Storm had been the one who had understood that actions spoke louder than words. Words were nothing, easily manipulated and easily forgotten. He would allow himself this, but no more.

Storms felt his arms, and she gave in. Allowing her own arms to wrap around his body, she missed him, god knows how much she did. Even through the simplest action should could feel it. It had been two years, but in the past hour and for whatever time she would be here with him, she didn't need to hear words from him and she didn't feel like saying anything. The way she held him, the way her face was buried in his chest, it was enough to let him know that she wanted him in that moment more than any other time in her life.
How would things have been if she never left? How her relationship with Chase had been if she had never walked out of the forbidden forest? Storm didn't want to think about that. She wanted to be like this with him and not have to worry about anything else. Her arms squeezed a bit tighter, as if speaking that she didn't want him to let go.
Her throat got tighter as she looked up from his chest, was this it? Was she going to have to leave because he was engaged and probably couldn't get out of whoever it was he was tied down to. No, she didn't want to leave, she was not going to turn her back on him; she already made that mistake once.

It hurt so badly to hold her, but it was something Chase needed more than he could have realized. What they'd had, as subtle as it had been, was the unspoken understanding that they had always known the roles they were born to play, that they played them, and that there was more to them than anyone else could know. He'd found her hexing a younger student, as self-assured as he was, rebelling against the image of perfection even while falling perfectly into the part of the tortured Death Eaters' daughter. Such a short time had seen her smiling for him, not sharing her secrets, not telling him her favorite color or food, but letting him in beyond petty, superficial things to who she wanted to be and who she was beneath the surface.
It had been easy to respond to that, quid pro quo. They'd recognized in each other someone else who was fighting, who wanted more than their lot, but who wasn't willing to throw it all away for that taste of freedom. Where had she been all this time? Had she taken her freedom? Did she have it all, and had she gotten it without giving up her place in the world? He didn't know, and he wanted to, wanted to know everything, but couldn't ask.
Crimson and deep orange swirled in his eyes as he looked down at her, unable to ask a single question. There was no denying to himself that he wanted more, that having a taste of her again would be as memorable an experience as the last time, but he couldn't, and he'd learned to control himself since then. He searched her eyes, but didn't act.

Storm wanted more than to be held; she knew this was enough- it was more than enough, but she was not going to settle for enough anymore. Storm was going to be selfish for once in her life, because now she wanted him more than ever.
Her eyes warned him, telling him what she was going to do. She was giving him the opportunity to move away. "Forgive me." because she knew that this would be hard for herself and for him. Leaning up, she made a move to press her lips against his, whatever his reaction would be, at least she wouldn't regret not trying.

Oh, he wanted it, so badly that every muscle in his body screamed in protest as he turned his face, letting his cheek brush hers and denying the kiss. "I can't," he whispered. His arms tightened around her, and his fingers spread against her body, trying to take more in without crossing the lines he'd set for himself. "As long as I have Carolynn, I can't."
There was a plea in the words that he couldn't speak aloud. As perfect as Carolynn was, he didn't want her, and would gladly let her go if given enough of a reason, but he couldn't leave her. To do so, to publicly reject her, would ruin her, which would ruin his family's connection with the Singhs and over a year's work. His father would be furious. He had to do his utmost to keep Carolynn happy, or it was all for nothing.

Storm shut her eyes, her face scrunched up helplessly. Her cheek was pressed up beside his own, it was frustrating how this all worked out. Carolynn the name was familiar, but she didn't care to think this woman was in the way. "Just as long as you have her..." so Dru wasn't even a part of the equation? That didn't matter, she wanted Chase so badly and if it meant that one woman stood in the way, Storm was not going to let Chase slip away, not after this! Bringing her hands to the side of his cheeks, she held his face a safe distance away, she wasn't going to try again. "I walked away once, I'm not letting history repeat itself." there was determination in her eyes, whoever this woman was, Storm was determined to have her out of the way... no matter what it took.
