Ani wasn't sure if he meant it. It didn't seem like he was lying but there were somevery good liars out in the world. Chris was one of them. And Dominic could be another.
She sort of wanted to trust him because she sort of liked him but she wasn't in to leaping with out looking. Besides she barely knew him. She wanted to be his freind before she even considered the prospect of dating. And to do that she had to trust him.
Without saying a word she took his hand. It was slightly sweaty but still very warm. She put the rose in his palm and curled his fingers around it. Then she turned and walked away without ever looking into his eyes.

Dom looked at the rose in his hand, baffled. It started to hue yellow and orange. He couldn't believe it, she was walking away from him! Quickly he followed after her, trying to understand why she was walking away.
"Wait, Ani!"

Ani didn't stop when she heard Dominic call at her. She didn't want to talk to him. Because he had this funny way of messing with her mind and making her feel really uncomfortable and tingly all at the same time. But almost subconsiously she slowed her pace so he could catch up.
"What do you want Dominic?" She tried to come off as slightly hostile but she just sounded curious and maybe a smidge of exasperation.

A simple question. Dom always wanted something he couldn't have. He was able to catch up to her. "What do i want? What do i want?!" He grabbed her, so suddenly. "I'm sorry."
Then he himself walked away, hoping she'd follow but chances were slim.

It damn near broke Ani's heart when Dominic apologized. She'd never had a boy say he was sorry to her. Even when she got even. Not even once. They just mumbled they wouldn't do it again and slouched off all ashamed like. Dominic was the first to acutally vocialize his regret.
And then he walked away. That meant he was an okay boy. That meant she could be his friend.
"Wait!" Ani rushed after him her words coming out as garbled mush as she caught up with Dominic. "You passed. You passed my test. I always test boys for safety reasons so I don't get hurt and its a complicated methoud.
"I'm really analytical and everything I do has a reason. And I didn't mean to upset you but that was a test and you passed.
"You were going to fast and I thought you were a player and you aren't. I don't have much experience in dating. So you were scaring me. And I didn't know what to do.
"I'm dominate, bossy and indepentdant. I don't like to be told what to do and we're going to have to be friends before you're allowed to ask me out. Sorry."

Dom smiled that Ani had finally forgiven him. "It's okay, I'm sorry i was so pushy and went too fast; but i want you to have this rose, friend or not. So, i hope you'll take it. Now that we're friends, what do you want to talk about?"

Ani took the rose, feeling slightly apprehensive. She hadn't planned out anything to say, a fact she didn't take well. She was always sure what to do. Always. Just as sure as rain fell and the flowers bloomed. And suddenly she had no idea.
Quickly as her mind tended to work she glanced around and spotted two girls, giggling sometimes stealing looks at Dominic. Ani wasn't sure if she liked that but she let it slide. It wasn't like they were dating and she had no right to be jealous. She hid her feelings from Dominic but took an idea.
"Friends stduy together right?" Ani smiled and held up her book. "So lets study."

Dominic eyed two girls who were stealing glances at him and giggling like they got injected with laughing gas. Dom rolled his eyes, sure he was kind of used to it but at the same time he wanted to egg them on and shoot them the "point and clicking of the tongue" gesture. Then he remembered, Ani was standing right beside him after finally forgiving him. Damn He thought. Oh well, if he and Ani didn't work out he could give those ladies a try. Least they weren't Slytherins; no his standards were higher.
He turned to Ani and flashed a brilliant smile. "Studying huh? Okay, let's do it."

Ani saw Dominic eye the two giggling girls. She could see he was thinking about going to talk to them. She watched his face with a quirked eye brow but shook her head and turned away from him.
With a silent sigh she buried any feelings she might have deep inside effectively forgetting and ignoring them until they disappered. She and Dominic were just friends. And thats all she wanted to be. She could convince herself that was all she wanted. It'd be easy just strong will power.
"You can go over there a talk to them." She commented. She puffed out her bottom lip and blew a strand of yellow hair out of her eyes. "They'd like that. I'll just be over there when you're finished flirting." She smiled utterly convinced that she wasn't jealous because she wasn't and walked away towards a table not far from the girls.

Flirting? What did Ani mean when she said "when you're done flirting." Dom saw the two girls giggling and remembered. Oh, right.
"Why would i flirt when we were going to study?" He sat next to Ani casually. He eyed the girls one more time and wanted to say, sorry, I'm taken But unfortunately since Ani wanted to be friends Dom had to respect that. Now if only Ani would be less snarly and defensive it'd make everything perfect.

Ani smiled at Dom when he sat down. Good friend. But if he wanted to flirt she had no problem with letting the girls have him. It was okay with her. She understood men could sometomies be horny and they needed a release. Flirting was a good expellation better then rape or soemthign equally wrong.
"Hey. I got no problem." Ani said making sure she didn't sound angry or jealous. Just like a friend was talking to a friend. "It's cool. We're just friends and guys need some girl next to them."

"But there is some girl next to me." Dom retorted, chuckling. It was useless to flirt with Ani if she didn't want to flirt back. Dom shifted uncomfortably. Seeing those girls made him terribly turned on. Which, girls, (and secretly guys) did for him, but he couldn't let Ani see that. He crossed his legs and posed like a statue.
"So what're we going to study anyway? Muggle Studies? Transfiguration? Could you excuse me a minute?" He stood up and went to go hide behind a bookshelf to try and get, less turned on.

Ani knew Dominic had an issue. She saw it before he left. At least he was trying to hide it. Some boys just let it hang out all over.
Ani also knew she hadn't caused the problem. She wasn't wearing anything alluring to day. Just a plain black pleated skirt, white blouse, black high heels and her Hufflepuff tie. It was the girls who were giggling with their very open almost see through shirts and small tight little skirts.
She heaved a sigh. Those girls were impractical at best and idiotic at worse. She never wanted to be like them anyhow. Instead she pulled open her book and looked at it. The writing was faded and minisucul. She was never going to be able to read it. She groaned softly.

Breathe in, Breathe out. C'mon Dom, you have more decency than that He tried to see what Ani was up to and saw one of the girls instead, a redhead with a lacy teal top that you could see her... Dom, seriously. If wasn't too careful he could do something he'd regret later...like he usually did. He bit his lip so he wouldn't say it to Ani later. Oh Ani, in her pleated church skirts and sensible blouse. It was harder to look at Ani but, it gave him an excuse to really look at her; to study her face, to look into her eyes.
He took one more big breath and calmly walked back to where Ani was sitting. "Sorry about that, I uh. Never mind."

Ani smiled at Dom at him when he came back. He was obviously uncomfortable and she laughed softly to herself. THis was perfect. As a friend she could endlesslu tease him.
She quirked an eye brow and grinned at him. "Got what?" she asked in a teasing voice. "Excited? I can handle the gory detail, Dominic."
