"You get a toy, too," Michael noted. "I think Elouai can vouch for the rope knots." She had worn her way through more than one of them since she had gotten big enough to truly appreciate them past light tug-of-war with Dare. He heard a low thump thump and looked back to see Elouai wagging her tail against the floor. When she realized he was looking at her, and not just mentioning her name, she pulled herself up again and came over to sniff curiously at the new puppy.

Keegan sniffed back and wagged his tail eagerly. He stood up again and sniffed even more. He decided that he liked her and began to bounce around, trying to get her to play with him.
Eirene laughed, "Well, it's good to know he's social. I get a toy, you said? The rope knots sound like a good idea."
She reached out for the matching leashes, trying to decide which one would be the best length for him. She looked back at Keegan and Keegan promptly stopped being mischievous. He sat down again and looked at her, innocence all over his face. Eirene sighed with a grin on her lips. "Oh, dear. It would seem I have a troublemaker on my hands."

Michael laughed lightly, "I'm sure he'll be okay. Are you going to have him up at the school?" She looked to be school-aged, and Hells was much more lenient when it came to pets than most of the other schools he had heard of. He, personally, thought that was a good thing, it only made the school feel more like the home it was to many of the students.

"Yes, I am. I suspect my brother will be so excited that he will either want Keegan all to himself or come down here and get one. I kind of hope he does that." Eirene picked a leash that was about medium length and attached it to Keegan's collar. "After all, dogs usually do best if they aren't left by themselves."

"Yes, they do. That's why Elouai's always down here with me. When we first got her I was still up at school, but living here. She about went crazy when we had to go to school," Michael said, smiling at the memory. She would all but attack them and then beg for a walk to go water Mano's flower bed in the front of his cafe.

Eirene giggled. "I could see it happening, I think. But why was she living here--?"
Realization hit her. "Ohhhh, you're Michael. And the 'we' is you and Dare, right?"

Michael's smile faltered for half a second before he recovered and nodded. "Yes, that's us." He was still more used to people hating them than accepting them, and he wasn't quite out of the habit of immediately shutting down just a little and pulling away when someone reacted to finding out. "I guess we're still big talk at the school?" He wouldn't know, he hadn't even read the Daily Prophet since his and Dare's little boycott had started over a year before.

"Just a little bit, I think," Eirene shrugged. "I'm usually reading or something, but I hear stuff going to class."
She bent down to Keegan and ruffled his head a little bit. "I am not going to persecute you or anything, if you're worried about it. Love is love in my opinion."
Eirene stood back up and spotted a squeaky toy. She picked it up and squeaked it at Keegan, whose ears pricked up. He moved forward and sniffed it curiously. When he was satisfied with it, he took it out of her hands and began to gnaw on it. She looked back up at Michael and gave him a small smile.

Michael's smile eased back to what it had been before and he slid his hands into his pockets as he looked from the puppy to Eirene. "Thank you," he said. "Most people don't say that kind of thing. I mean, there was even a man that came in here with his daughter, had everything up at the register to buy her a kitten, he found out and stormed off. The girl was crying and everything, poor thing." He shook his head and reached over to ruffle Elouai's ears.

"You're welcome. I like to think I have decency that other people of the human race lack. Like that guy." Eirene scoffed. "People are just incredibly stupid sometimes. That's all there is to it."
She looked around the store a little and picked out a gold and blue bed. She laughed, "I am in Ravenclaw, so this is great."

"I have bags that shrink what you put inside, so don't worry about carrying everything back with you," Michael said, figuring it was a good idea to tell her now so she wouldn't have to worry about juggling everything all the way back to school. "Dare's younger brother, Silver, is in Ravenclaw." It was really the only Ravenclaw he knew, besides Dru.

"Really? That is great! It will be a lot easier to do that," she admitted. She picked up the end of the leash and wrapped it around her wrist loosely. "Hmmm. I don't think I have met him personally."
Keegan stood up and walked with her as she grabbed a bronze watering bowl and feeding bowl.

"He stays to himself, I haven't even seen him in months." It sounded horrible to say it out loud, when he hadn't really thought about the last time he saw Silver in probably as long as it had been since he had seen him. He knew that something had happened with Dare playing the guitar and Silver finding out, and as far as Michael knew the two of them hadn't talked.

"Does he? I'm sure I've seen him around, though." Eirene stated. She wouldn't ask why he hadn't seen Silver in months since it wasn't her place. She just walked around some more, looking for more items that Keegan would need. "I apologize if it seems like I am not paying enough attention to your words. I am just trying to multitask." She said the last bit with a sheepish grin.

Michael shook his head. "Don't worry about it, it's fine. Sorry if I'm talking too much," he returned. "I love those little old ladies that come in, but I can only take so much of their talking about their little yorkies." His voice was teasing, but it was at least partially true. Talking to the same people all the time got old.
