Ryan sighed as he saw she was changing the subject "I know its not." he said softly as he ran his hand through her hair, not knowing what else to say or do.

Vannah pulled away from his touch. It was the last thing she wanted right now. She wanted to go back and prevent everything from happening. Since she couldn't, she wanted to be alone. Ignoring the fact that she was pushing anything that got close to her away, Vannah stood up. "I have to go." She said brushing the dirt off of her clothes. "I'm sorry, Ryan." That just about summed it all up. She was sorry for leaving him, sorry for coming back, sorry for his father's surgery, sorry for his parents' divorce, sorry she kept pushing him away.

Ryan got up and looked at her "Please don't go Vannah." he said. He was afraid he might not see her again if she left now.

Vannah turned around. "Why not?" She said. She crossed her arms over her chest. She wasn't the person she used to be, no matter how hard she tried to be. She used to have fun, she was happy. She wanted to be happy again. She wanted to smile and not feel guilty about it. Hogwarts used to make her smile, she had friends there. Where did they all go? Why hadn't she kept in touch?

Ryan let a tear run down his face "Because I love you, and I don't want to lose you again!" he said and leaned back against the tree, starting to cry softly again.

Vannah cringed. It was an all too familiar reason. How many times had he told her that exact thing? It wasn't that she didn't believe him, she did. She desperately wished she could say the same thing back to him. But how could she be capable of love when she did such a hateful thing? Then, he started crying and that only made her feel worse. Instead of turning to leave, Vannah walked over to him. She slipped her arms around his waist and rested her head on his chest. "I know." Was the best she could manage.

Ryan wrapped his arms around her and held her as he kept crying. He wanted to be able to stay like this forever, but he knew he couldn't. He just hopped it would last a while at least.

Vannah didn't lift her head. He was making it really hard for her. "Baby, please don't cry." She finally said. It was too much to bear. She was there, physically at least. She didn't know what else she could do. He smelled good, familiar. It was one of the things she missed the most.

Ryan held her close to him and tried to stop crying. He finally was able to stop and he ran his hand through her hair "I'm sorry." was all he was able to say.

Vannah buried her nose into his chest. Already, she was in a slightly better mood than before. There was something incredibly comforting and familiar being in his arms again. A cold breeze swept through the air, sending a shiver up Vannah's spine. It raised goosebumps on her arm. "Can we go inside?" She asked, suddenly feeling chilled.

Ryan looked down at her and nodded "Of course, just lead the way." he said, happy that she wasn't leaving without him, even if it was just for the time being. He didn't want to be without her again. He love having her in his arms, and would trade everything in the world to never have to let her go.

Vannah pulled away from him. She stepped away from the tree and wrapped her light sweater around her tightly in an attempt to keep warm. It wasn't working because she was still shivering. She was also drained. Where had her energy gone? It was as if the simple task of standing up was taking everything away from her. She started to walk ahead of him, but found herself wanting fall over. "Ryan, baby, I think I should go back." She said wearily. "I'm so tired."

Ryan caught up to her and held her hand "What do you mean? Go back where?" he asked, wondering if she mean to her room, or the tree, or what. He stood there and held her hand and made sure she was ok.

Vannah grew dizzier and dizzier. When was the last time she ate anything? It might've been a couple of days. Food didn't have the same appeal to her as it once did. "Ryan..." She called out as a warning. It was barely above a whisper. Everything around her slipped away as she fainted and fell to the ground.

Ryan caught Vannah just before she hit the ground and laid her down softly. He knelt beside her and tried to wake her up "Vannah, baby, please wake up. Vannah!" he called out, trying to get her to wake up. He looked around to find someone but no one else was outside. He didn't know what to do.
