This was exactly what Dare hadn't known he needed. The hard beat of the music got him before he and Michael were even through the doors, and all the excitement of earlier was back in full force. It was better than he'd remembered, the complete freedom he felt holding Michael's hand and dancing their way onto the crowded floor. He threw a grin back at Michael, then tugged at his hand, ready to go. It felt like they were more on the same page than they'd been for months.

Michael followed, an easy smile on his lips at Dare's excitement, and at his own that was flowing through him. He loved this, and it seemed like he always forgot just how much he loved it when they walked into the club and it all came crashing down on him again. He tightened his hand in Dare's and let Dare lead them into the crowd.

Dare felt like he was home, in a way. Maybe this had been a second home once, back when they hadn't had a place of their own, not really. They'd had Emilian's apartment and they'd had Popstarz. Had they really been coming here that long? Had there really been a time when they hadn't?
The thoughts became secondary when Dare found them a place, the sea of bodies around them moving in a single rhythm. He pulled Michael close, glad to let the world outside go. Here, weight didn't matter. School didn't matter, or the shop, or the past or the future.

Michael turned to look up at Dare, slipping one hand up into Dare's hair. He wondered absently just how long they would be able to hold out this time before they had to slip out and head home. Not that he minded going home after, but it was just as fun staying at the club while everything became so intense. They always had fun for a while before it became intense and they had to leave, though.

A new song had just started when Dare heard someone singing over-enthusiastically nearby. He paid no attention at first, not interested in drunks to begin with, let alone when Michael was looking at him like that. His arms wrapped around Michael's waist as they moved, and it wasn't until the owner of the voice knocked against them that he actually looked up.
Don’t pretend/I think you know/I’m damn precious/And hell yeah/I’m the mother f~in princess/I can tell you like me too/And you know I’m right
The guy was insane, right?

Michael looked sharply aside at the guy and reflexively pulled up closer to Dare. "Watch where you're going," he said, then turned to ignoring the guy and brought his eyes back up to dare. He hoped the guy would just go away somehow, even if that seemed less than possible, considering the few encounters he and Dare had had with guys at the clubs in the past.

Dare shifted away with Michael, but apparently they were the drunk's target because he followed along. He’s like so whatever! The guy ad-libbed, crooking a thumb at Michael. Dare's eyes widened. You can do so much better/I think we should get together now/And that’s what everyone’s talking about! "What the..." Hey, Hey, You, You, I don’t like your boyfriend! The guy started trying to force his way between them and Dare let go, if only to push back.

Michael took a couple of surprised steps back at the guy's determination, but within a few moments his eyes darkened, his eyebrows came together, and he came up and grabbed the guy's shoulder to pull him around. "Back off," he warned, then pushed his way back to Dare. He wasn't going to let some drunk guy ruin their night.

The guy wasn't at all deterred, and Dare's lips parted in disbelief at any of this. His adrenaline was rushing enough from the dancing, let alone the tone in Michael's voice that said he wouldn't budge. I can see the way/I see the way/you look at me/And even when you look away/I know you think of me! "No, just... See the ring?" Dare argued. He grabbed Michael's right hand and attempted to pull him away, but the guy had a one-track mind. So come over here/Tell me what I wanna hear/Better yet, make the girlfriend disappear! Apparently he'd forgotten to change the lyrics that time. Either that or he was asking to be decked. "F~ off!" Dare barked.

Michael turned, his back to Dare, and his hand twitched over his wand, though he wouldn't even begin to think to bring it out. He took Dare's hand, but it didn't seem like the guy would just give up if they walked away. Though he stayed silent, he stared evenly at the guy, as though daring him to do something so he would be in the right in returning.

Dare didn't see Michael's wand hand move or he would have caught it, too. As it was, his gaze was focused on the drunk, who didn't think f~ off merited any more attention than back off. There was an exaggerated wink as the singing continued, even louder. In a second you’ll be wrapped around my finger/Cause I can, cause I can do it better/There's no other, so when’s it gonna sink in?/He’s so stupid, what the hell were you thinking? The guy seemed to think it was all a game and grabbed Michael's wrist as though to drag him out of the picture.

Michael jerked his wrist away, only to twist his hand around and shove the guy back. "Don't touch me," he said. "And get the hell away from us." He could feel the eyes of the people around them whose attention had caught onto this, but he firmly ignored them, instead keeping his eyes focused on the guy. He was not abject to getting into something if that was what the guy wanted. At times, Michael could be so even-tempered, sometimes it was near impossible to get his temper up, but at others it seemed to come out so easily.

The drunk would have fallen to the floor if the crowd hadn't been so tightly packed, and now his singing had stopped. "Come on," Dare said, tightening his grip on Michael's hand. He knew how hard it was to get Michael calmed down, and if they could just move on... They didn't have time, though. The drunk wasn't having fun anymore, but he still wanted to focus his energy outward. He pushed Michael back.

Michael would have turned and gone with Dare had the guy left. But he didn't, and so Michael's eyes darkened. "I said leave us alone," he said, starting to pull his hand from Dare's as he returned the guy's push. He didn't intend on backing off now, not unless the guy got smart and left. There was no doubt in Michael's mind that he could hold his own against this guy, even if he hadn't done anything like this in years.

The drunk was too happy feeling justified to leave, and as the space around them began to widen, he decided to resume taunting. "Who made you Queen B~ of the Universe? Sod off, emo tosser." He gave a self-satisfied smirk and made a lewd gesture that had even Dare's brows arching. Before he could think to try dragging Michael off again, the drunk lunged.
