Markise turned to give Ariel a withering look. "Grow a set of balls!" he hissed. "I'm f~ing bored! I love you, but I'm f~ing bored!" He jerked sharply at his hand, his tension coming out in the physical the way it had for so long now. He didn't have the weekly purging he'd had last term or the constant quick walks from one place to another. He didn't have his morning run with Ariel, he had the short walks to and from Hogwarts, and an exercise routine that had become as much a chore as everything else.

Ariel's eyes narrowed at that. "I said we could go out," he said. He was willing to try, he didn't want Markise to be bored. "Unless you just want to go by yourself, and I swear if you do that and come back drunk or I find out you kissed someone...." He didn't finish his threat, mainly because he didn't quite know what he would do, but his eyes flashed briefly.

Markise jerked at his hand again and glared right back at Ariel. Dancing somewhere other than the bedroom or the living room wasn't going to be enough. He couldn't make himself promise not to drink, though. No matter how much he wanted to keep Ariel happy, it was part of clubbing. As for the rest, "I didn't f~ing let them kiss me when I was single, why the hell would I start now?" He'd only ever let them when he was desperate, and he wasn't constantly in a state of sexual frustration anymore.

Ariel pulled his hand back, away from Markise's. "You're telling me you want to go out, but you don't, but you're bored," he said, trying to make some sense of it, even if he was getting frustrated. "If you're bored with me, then who says you wouldn't go do something?" He didn't want to think like that, but what else could he think?

"I'm not bored with you!" Markise argued. "I'm bored with doing the same f~ing thing every f~ing day! Wake up, pilates, breakfast, f~ before school, class, f~ at lunch if there's time, home, work, dinner, f~, sleep and do it again. I know you like everything in order, but it drives me crazy. It's not you I'm bored with, it's everything else!" He'd thought he finally had Ariel convinced that he wasn't a whore, but apparently the label still stuck after all this time.

"What do you want me to do?" Ariel shot back. "I said I'd try going out if you wanted." He wanted to do something that would help, anything. There wasn't much he knew of that he could offer, unless he just said that it was okay for Markise to go out and do whatever he wanted to do. That didn't exactly sound appealing to him.

"Fine, we'll f~ing go out!" Markise shouted. "And I f~ing swear if you pull any crap your sh~'ll be on the sidewalk before you can find someone else to blame!" He couldn't handle it happening again, couldn't handle knowing it would be his fault for not just keeping quiet and pretending he was happy. He swore again and lifted his hand to hide his eyes as he turned away. He would not have an allergy attack right now, he wouldn't.

"I'm not going to do anything!" Ariel refused to do something to screw up. He was willing to put them on the line just to make things right again. He knew he could resist, as long as he had Markise with him. He ran his hands roughly through his hair and looked determinedly away from Markise. When was the last time they had fought?

They hadn't fought since that day in the hospital, when they'd decided to come out. Everything since then had been peaceful and run smoothly. There had been little to no conflict between them, and aside from Christmas, little to no excitement. Markise didn't want to fight, but he wanted something different, and fighting with Ariel had led to no end of excitement, no matter how miserable. It was something to make him feel like he was alive instead of just living, something besides sex.
Markise didn't turn back to Ariel, and didn't say another word. He'd gotten his miserable excitement, and though he felt purged, he felt deflated as well. There was no sense of victory in pricking Ariel's temper. He still couldn't believe that Ariel wouldn't do anything. It wasn't that easy, and Ariel had said so many times that he was going to screw up, that he was going to hurt him, that Markise not only believed it, but expected it. He wouldn't leave, not if Ariel loved him, but things were too good. Something had to go wrong. Maybe part of him thought that if they fought, then nothing worse would happen.

Ariel had been convinced he would hurt Markise, but that didn't mean he was going to do it the first time he got the chance. However much he thought he was going to, he was going to try as hard as he could not to do anything. He wanted to do things right, he thought he had been doing things right, but apparently he was terribly wrong about that. His lips parted and he started to speak, but he closed his lips tightly and shook his head, then started to the bathroom.

Part of Markise had hoped that Ariel would say something, that with the argument over already, they could make up and float along until they were ready to talk about going out again. Ariel was walking away though, and Markise didn't want to follow him. He didn't need to pick another fight, and Ariel would want to be alone now, anyway. He stood a moment longer, then headed for the door. His shop was still open, and he needed to at least check on it.
