Markise's eyes remained widened. He knew why Dare had been gone from class, but he'd played this girl's guitar upside-down? He couldn't think to say anything to that. Yes, Dare had been good, really good, but all of this threw him for such a loop that he forgot she was telling him this to find out about Silver.

Quinn slid her own shirt on over her head, "yeah, and Silver didn't stay much longer than that, he packed up and left. And for some reason, even though I'm doing better talking to people, Silver doesn't ever stay for more than a few minutes." It seemed like a much nicer name, Silver than Sylvester, less old. But then who was she to say anything Quinn was a boys name.

Markise was still speechless, still too busy trying to accept all this himself to try interpreting Silver's behavior. He couldn't have done it anyway. Silver had always kept to himself, and surely Dare hadn't told him everything, even in his desire to shock. It was sad that the only reason he knew was because Dare had been trying to shock him.

Quinn slipped out of the tight white jeans, and into the jeans that she had brought with her. "Markise? What do you think? Why does he keep leaving, does it have something to do with my talking to Dare? I mean, I guess I don't understand what's going on. Brindle said I should talk to Michael first, but I thought it would be better to ask Dare upfront, not go behind his back."

Markise pulled himself out of his own thoughts just enough to hear Quinn's question. Something about asking Dare upfront when Brin had said to talk to Michael. "Talk to Michael," he echoed. "Michael knows everything." And somehow the annoyance he felt at having had to say that wasn't dripping from every word.

Quinn sighed at that thought of going to see Michael, "do you think he'll actually talk to me. If I've done something to upset them, then I don't..." Quinn smoothed her own clothes down, and stepped out of the dressing room, the clothes in her hands. "I'm afraid, I don't want to have hurt someone, because I didn't know. I still don't know."

Markise's eyes were still wide, but he didn't have any idea more of an idea what to do than he had when they'd been talking about Lyric. "I don't know either," he said. It was only on seeing Quinn that he realized he was still holding the cheap jewelry he'd meant to put away. Even the better stuff he had wasn't up to what the actual jewellery shop had, but it was more accessories than anything serious. He gestured for Quinn to follow him, since she was out now, and headed for the couple standing racks with the jewelery on it.

Quinn let out a nervous chuckle," I suppose that I'm still not doing very well at this talking thing," she murmured. As she looked at the racks with Markise she genuinely smiled, "thank you, for putting up with me. I really, like being able to talk to someone." It felt safe, it always felt safe when someone talked to you, when there was a tangible connection to other people.

Markise put on a smile as he looked aside at Quinn. "I'm not putting up with you," he said. "You're really not that bad, have some confidence in yourself. Confidence is even sexier than that little outfit you've got." He began scanning the racks for some things with enough personality to count and enough class not to be useless as anything but costume jewelry.

Quinn ginned, "and you are a good salesman." She felt the childish desire to stick her tongue out at him, but didn't. "I feel more confident, every time that I talk to someone." She'd really felt more confident after Lyric had kissed her, as though she did mean something to the world, something to someone besides Kiley. It helped that she could talk to Lyric just a bit about her past, about what went wrong that had given her that life.

Markise gave Quinn another smile and another pretty compliment before pulling a few things off the racks and asking her opinion. Eventually, she had an outfit and the proper accessories to look entirely too attractive for a guy that she seemed positive was worth it. He wished her luck and, after seeing her out, closed the shop early. He was exhausted, and he'd hardly done a thing.
