Quinn was done, she'd meant it when she said that she wasn't going to help Jory anymore, obviously he hadn't been that interested in Lyric if he'd been willing to give up on him so easily. It seemed convoluted to her, his way of thinking, how one minute he was saying how much he cared, and the next minute telling her it obviously didn't mean anything, and that Lyric had lied to her. She wanted to scream in frustration at what she thought was Jory's block of logic, a wall he'd built around himself.
Either way, she didn't care, and as he walked out of the door, she had to take a deep breath before heading to the door Markise had disappeared behind, and knock calmly. However, she did not feel like acting in the least happy with the world at the moment, and she truly wanted to know, what was going on. She'd barely gleaned anything from Jory, just that for a time he'd had something with Lyric, Lyric had issues touching Jory too, which made her feel better and told her it wasn't just something she was dealing with.
However, it didn't tell her what Jory meant to Lyric, how long they'd been together, how serious it had been, in turns Jory had made it seem pivotal in his life, and in the next turn it was something trifling. Maybe Markise would know more, maybe he wouldn't, but she definately needed to get her mind off of this until she could answer some of these questions, and if Markise didn't know she'd ask elsewhere.

Markise had thrown himself back into the design ideas he'd been working on earlier, and when the voices in his shop had gotten to an uncomfortable level, he'd turned on his Wizards' Wireless. It wasn't something he was especially proud of, leaving them to each other like that, but he hadn't been able to handle running back and forth with messages and having no clue what was really going on. He hardly knew Quinn and Jory, after all, and he didn't know this Lyric guy at all.
The knock at the door pulled him out of his purposeful concentration on the sketches in front of him, and he gave them one last look before turning them face-down and setting a cup of pencils on top of them. Then he turned the Wizards' Wireless down and put on a hopeful smile to open the door. Maybe it hadn't been as bad as it had sounded.

Quinn took a deep breath, trying to reign things in, because she didn't want to yell at Markise, after Madison he was the closest she had to a friend. She put on a small smile, but had her arms wrapped around herself somewhat defensively. "Hey Markise," she said, as though he had not just probably heard all of that. "I know...you probably have no idea whats going on, but well I don't know either, sorry if it disrupted things."

Markise shook his head, deciding he'd pretend he hadn't heard a thing. He hadn't paid attention to any of it, since the details of some stranger's life was none of his business, but he'd talk to Quinn if she wanted to now that he wasn't getting conflicting information from two different people. "It's fine," he assured her. He glanced into his shop, but Jory was nowhere to be found, so his eyes returned to Quinn. "Are you all right?" What had Jory told her? Had she figured out that Lyric was bad news yet?

Quinn shook her head, "I'm frustrated, and I've never felt...well I've only felt this way a couple of times in my life. It was like talking to a wall, he wouldn't tell me anything, and he doesn't understand anything," One of her hands started awkwardly running through her hair, "he's so...." how did she explain how he scared her at the same time that he frustrated her. "I told him everything I knew, he could have..." she sniffled at the thought of what he could do with the information she'd given to him, if he'd listened at all.

Markise's brows drew together at Quinn's sniffling, and he reached out to put an arm lightly around her shoulders. "I'm sorry, I didn't know," he said. Jory had annoyed him some the first time they'd met, but he'd attributed most of that to the way Ariel had looked at him when he'd first sat down. "Don't worry about Jory, then. Worry about you. And about being careful with that Lyric guy." Not that he had any problem with drinking per se, but if he had to drink to touch someone, he might be drinking too much.

Quinn tried to smile, her body relaxing at the arm on her shoulders, a hand wiping under her eye "I have to be careful. If he's like that with everybody, then it's really bad." She shook her head, "I usually have problems around guys, but I haven't since I've been here," not since the first few times she'd met Sylvester, she reminded herself to ask him about that after this, she wanted to find out what he knew. "What do you know about Lyric, or Jory?"

Markise glanced out into the store, trying to think back. "I don't know much," he said. "Him and Jory were at some other school and there were problems with the Headmistress, so they transferred or something. I don't know, what do you want me to tell you?" They'd only talked once. "Come on, let's talk while you change back into your clothes."

Quinn nodded as they headed back to the dressing area, "he told me that they had sex," whatever that actually was, "but he also told me that he cared for Lyric, but then he said that he actually didn't. I don't understand how people can change their minds like that. Or why boys aren't allowed to like girls too."

Markise decided he was going to give himself wrinkles with as often as his brows were drawn together in confusion. "He can like girls if he wants to," he said. Markise wasn't sure why they'd want to, but he really didn't have a problem with guys who did. "You'll save yourself a headache if you don't try to understand him," he decided. "Now, did you like the outfit?"

Quinn nodded, a smile breaking through her thoughts, "yeah I really liked it." She gestured at the jewelry though, "I wasn't sure about the jewelry though...it's kind of gaudy," she'd forgotten about the outfit in all of this, and really wasn't sure how she'd managed to, considering she was probably showing the world her cleavage as she'd gesticulated to Jory. Offhandedly, Quinn asked, "do you know who a kid named Sylvester is?"

"Sylvester?" Markise repeated, glancing up at Quinn before he moved to gather the colorful jewelry so many girls seemed to love. He personally thought it looked cheap, but it sold. "I only know one Sylvester, and he's been Silver for a couple years now. You know Dare, right? Silver's Dare's brother. Why?" Markise stepped out of the dressing room to leave Quinn to changing, but stayed just outside so they could keep talking.

Dare's brother, Quinn thought to herself as she pulled off the top, "he really doesn't seem to like me." She thought about where she might have met him, and groaned. That had been a really bad day, "I don't know why. I only met him once before, and he...well I was more talking to Dare. I was asking him if he would play guitar for the concert, Madison told me he was really good."

Markise's pale blue eyes rounded, the motion only exaggerated by the thick black lashes that rimmed them. There were some moments of tense, obvious silence. He'd only found out about things a matter of months ago, though it had been years since it had all happened, and at the time, Dare still hadn't touched a guitar. He'd only found out from Brin, who he thought had heard from Michael, that he'd picked one up. But he'd played for some girl he hardly knew? He wouldn't play for his friends, but he would for someone he hardly knew? "So... what happened?" he asked.

Quinn's voice was muffled as the fabric of the shirt slid over her head, "Dare didn't take it very well I don't think. I don't know why, Madison said he was really good, playing her guitar upside down and everything. He walked out of the class we have together, and I haven't spoken to him since. He was even gone from class for a while."
