Searching for a Book (open)

[Jory Addison]

"Um..." Jory wasn't sure. He leaned up just a little more, tilting his head to read over bits and pieces of the page. "I don't know. It sounds like they were acting one way, then something happened and they acted a different way. Would that be kind of like that old magic stuff?" He didn't know exactly what it meant, but at least it was something, right?

[Zilnafa]

"So what do I do now?" Zilnafa was intimadated by the daunting search that would inevitably lead from this tibit. She didn't want to be in this library for much longer. it was suffocating. Maybe she could ask Jory some place where she could hang out without the dust giving her a smokers cough. "Which books will I want to look at next?"

[Jory Addison]

"Um..." Jory hummed again as he leaned back on his heels. "I don't know, I guess you could ask the librarian if she knew what books have that family name in it." That seemed like the best idea, since the librarian was the one that organized and kept the books safe. Surely, of all people, the librarian would know where to look next.

[Zilnafa]

Zilnafa laughed.

"Um. The librarain and I don't really get along that well." She shook her head smiling. "Thanks for the idea but I think I'll go back to searching." She sobered up. "And thanks for helping me. It was a decent thing to do, even if you were only avoiding your homework."

[Jory Addison]

"I'll ask if you want me to," Jory said. "I haven't talked to the librarian before. Just write the name down or something and I'll go ask." He didn't have a problem going to ask, he was even past the point of trying to avoid homework. "Unless you're just trying to get rid of me or something," Jory reasoned, smiling, with a teasing glint in his eyes.

[Zilnafa]

"Not get rid of you." Zilnafa grinned at him. "Just get out of the library. I need fresh air. I"m getting a lung infection here."

She stood up and stretched again, sighing. The feeling of being able to move more then a couple centimeters refreshed her and she was liking the idea of maybe running a lap. She loved to run. The stuffy library was suffocating her. She blinked at Jory. Did he like to run? Or play Quidditch? That was popular here. Maybe he wasn't athletic at all. She shrugged.

Jory smiled and nodded, "I know what you mean. Do you want to go outside, then? I mean, it's cold, but it's cold most of the year." Too bad there wasn't any snow on the ground at the moment. He loved being outside, though, even if it was just to go and lay down and look at the clouds or the stars in the night time.

[Zilnafa]

"Oh. The cold." Zilnafa grinned. "I love the cold. It's never cold in Africa."

And she did like to cold very much. She liked the sting on her cheeks as the cold tickled them and the way her fingers stiffened. She liked feeling bundled up and so like a ball she wasn't sure she could put her arms down. She didn't like scarves though something that covered the way to her lungs. She loved the cold.

"What about you?" She asked. "Do you like the cold?"

Jory shrugged, "I don't care. It's fun to bundle up and play in the snow, though. And it's always worth going outside in the cold just to come inside and be by a fire with hot chocolate or something." There were upsides to everything. "But I like warm weather better. I love spring." He loved seeing all the fresh green grass and little flowers.

[Zilnafa]

"You know what, I've never seen spring." Zilnafa told him shrugging. "I got here just in time for school to start. You can't have a spring if you have no winter."

But that hadn't stopped her from imagining it. She could close her eyes and think about how green it would get and how all the little things would pop up. She wondered how long it took snow to melt. How many flowers could they grow here at Hogwarts? Would it rain as much as it had in Africa? She wouldn't mind seeing spring.

[Jory Addison]

"Spring's awesome, everything's pretty and new. Everything gets a new start every year. It'd be nice to be able to do that." Jory didn't think about the past very much, he lived for the present and the future, it was useless to think about the past too much. But still, it would be nice to be able to completely start everything over every now and again.

[Zilnafa]

"Why?" Zilnafa heard a cryptic hint in his voice. "What's so horrible that you'd want to start over?"

She didn't like they way he'd said that. It gave her a new impression of him and she stood back to evaluate Jory again. He was still slightly taller then she was, his hair was slightly mussed. His eyes were electric blue and she couldn't detect anything different about him. So either he was incredibly talented actor, or there was nothing wrong with his past. Zilnafa was betting it was the former.

"If you don't mind my prying." She added as an after thought.

[Jory Addison]

Jory shrugged and dropped his eyes. "Nothing big, just a couple of things that I wish I hadn't done. It's not, like, some big catastrophic event, just generic stuff like getting picked on." He didn't have a reason to hide that particular part from her, but he wasn't quite sure how Zilly would react to hearing why he had gotten picked on.

[Zilnafa]

Zilnafa narrowed her eyes when Jory's dropped from her face. She could smell a rat somewhere in there.

"Why were you picked on?" She inquired, even though she knew he probably wanted his privacy and wouldn't tell her. He might even think she was being rude...which she was. She raised her hands in surrender. "You can tell me to stop if you want. I get...annoying."

[Jory Addison]

Jory shook his head, "You're not being annoying." He looked down at his hands as he wrung his fingers together. "How do I know you won't pick on me if I tell you?" He looked up at Zilly, his eyes wide. Maybe, just maybe, he hoped that he could tell her, because he really did like what it felt like when people knew. But he didn't want her to freak out on him or something.
