School was out. For the day at least, but that was enough for Dare. It seemed like every class had been hours long, like every professor had droned on and on, though if he was pressed, he'd admit they'd been fine. He wanted it over with, though.
His mind was on work, the club, and leaving the club to go home to Michael. He'd realized his birthday was coming up, and had started sketches in one of his books of tattoo ideas. He didn't know how Michael would take that, considering how he felt about his own, and though Dare's would be an endlessly different situation, what if it brought back memories for Michael?
They were only sketches, he reminded himself, pausing on his way to the gates. He opened the flap on his bookbag and shuffled through a moment, making sure everything was there, that he hadn't left the book behind at the lake. It was there, of course, and somewhere in the pages was a set of rough sketches of a male torso and arms.
Michael would recognize the pattern of the vines that twisted around the left arm and up to the chest, curving over the heart. In place of his own name, though, Michael melded into the leaves. It would take time to do it, more than one session, and was definitely overboard for a first tattoo, but the sketches showed a progression from one to the next.
When he was satisfied, he closed the flap and straightened again, pushing up one arm warmer to check his watch. He'd started wearing them out again as soon as it was cool enough, replacing his wristbands, though he tended to push them out of the way or just pull them off when he was home for the night. He was comfortable enough without them around Michael to deal with their absence, something he'd never have thought he'd be.

"Come on," Ivy hissed softly back at Lalita as she pulled out her wand. "He's right there." They were so close. Their original plan had fallen through, but Ivy thought she liked their new one much better. Taking Dare, and she thought that then breaking up with Michael would be a wonderful little surprise for the evil ginger. She had enough polyjuice potion for three hours in the pocket of her oversized robes. She just needed a few hairs... Well, and to hide Dare away in the Shrieking Shack, or wherever else was convenient.

I'm coming! Lalita snapped in her whisper as she crouched by Ivy. She too took out her wand, but wasn't going to be using it anytime soon. Her eyes followed Ivy's out to see Dare, their soon to be victim. He seemed so oblivious just being there like that. A small smile came across her lips, as bad as it was, what they were doing, it was for the best of causes. Lalita looked at Ivy, "Ready when you are."

Dare paused a moment longer, turning to look back at the castle. Normally he ignored the feeling of being watched, more or less used to it after so long, but it was strong today, and something in the back of his mind felt a sudden twinge of ominous discomfort. Something whispered to just go home, to owl in from there. He shook his head slightly. If he owled in every night he wanted to stay home with Michael, he'd never work. He took a slow breath, then resumed his loping path toward the gates.

Ivy glanced over her shoulder and held her finger up to her lips, then moved to creep up behind Dare. She waved behind her for Ivy to follow and held her wand in front of her as she stepped quietly over the grass, helped along by the silencing spell she had put around her. "Give me your wand," she hissed when she was close enough to put the tip of her wand in the small of the much taller Dare's back. She wasn't in the least afraid of him, she had a goal and that was what she was thinking of, not the fact that he was taller and older than she was.

Lalita stayed behind Ivy for the first part, cautitious creeping up behind Dare. Although she also had a silencing spell, she held her breath in anticipation. Judging by what she already knew of Ivy, Lalita gathered that Ivy wasn't intimidated by the height of the guy. As soon as Ivy's wand touched Dare's back, Lalita let out a small sigh. It was by no means over yet, but the hardest part was now starting to go underway.

Dare froze in place, his instincts flaring up so that for a split second, he couldn't think. His mind was swarmed with memories of pain tearing into the skin of his back, flames devouring every ounce of flesh on his body. Then his senses kicked in, and he realized it could only be students, he was still inside the gates. And he only heard one.
"No," he said firmly. "Why should I?" He tried to feel who was behind him. Were they close? Physically strong? Good with a wand? It was pressed into his back. Maybe they were afraid they'd miss. He wasn't going to risk them being good and serious by turning, but there was no way in hell they were disarming him. If he got his wand out, he was casting a damn good shield.

Ivy pressed her wand tip a little harder into Dare's back. "Give it to me or I'll take it from you," she hissed, keeping her voice low. She didn't want to give away that it was her just yet. She knew plenty enough to hold her own against Dare, she had studied hard in hopes that some day she would get her chance with Michael. Besides, she had Lalita there to back her up and help her keep him in their control.

Lalita took a step closer to Ivy, keeping her eye on Dare. She was on full alert for sudden movement and focused her energy on making sure this would go smoothly. On the outside, she looked calm and collected, but inside her heart was beating faster than she could think. If this went bad....well, it wouldn't! Matching the same tone as Ivy, she lowered her voice and said, "I would do as she says. Now."

She. Dare's mind didn't make the connection, though it did get him thinking. As did the fact that so far he hadn't gotten much more than an unspoken or else as a threat. He paused for a moment as though in indecision, though in reality his mind was ticking. All at once, he began to turn to see who was behind him, his hand simultaneously reaching for the place his wand was hidden, fully intending on throwing that shield.

"Expelliarmus!" Ivy instantly shot, wanting to give Dare no chance of getting his wand. She wasn't even sure if his hand had touched his wand yet....did the disarming spell even work if the person wasn't holding their wand yet? She certainly hoped so, or at least hoped that he wouldn't be able to hold onto it well enough and she or Lalita could get it.

The second Ivy cast the spell, Lalita's wand was at the ready and she took a closer step foreward, waiting to see where the wand went. If it was still with Dare, if he hadn't been holding it yet, she couldn't see. But, if it went flying across the room, she kept her eyes wide open for it. The moment she would catch site of it, she would pounce to get it from him.

Dare could throw a good shield, thanks to Michael, but he wasn't fast enough. His wand had been out, but he hadn't had time to bring it up, let alone cast a spell. His wand jumped from his fingertips, making an unceremonious flip onto the grass. His eyes widened, and there was a dangerous moment of shock when he recognized Ivy and Lalita. Were they for real? Another second, and he decided not to find out, turning and breaking into a full run.

"Incarcerous!" Ivy shouted, aiming at Dare. She had no plans of letting him get away. She had committed to doing this to get back at Michael and there was no way she was stopping halfway through. This was the easiest way to get to Michael, and it was already obvious that Dare wasn't as good with a wand as Michael would have been.

The second the wand fell onto the ground, Lalita had run to scoop it up. Then her long legs were put to good use as she didn't wait to find out if Ivy's spell had reached Dare, Lalita saw him running and sprinted toward him. She was in good shape, but she wasn't as fast as he was. With another push in her stride, Lalita could feel herself finally catching up to him. She was almost there!
