In Need of Something (Gabby)

Gabby blushed a little, then was ashamed she had blushed. "So do I have a choice in the matter?" She asked with a smile at Brooke. Gabby thought that the easiest way was to not fight Brooke.

Finally Gabby was catching on Brooke thought before answering "Of course not. Well you could run away or get yourself killed but those aren't very appealing options." It was just a second way of saying that Gabby really didn't have a choice in the matter, it was do or die in Gabby's case quite literally.

"Dying is not something I have planned in my diary for the next, 50 years." Gabby said with a small smile. Anything to help her against those dratted slytherins she would welcome with open arms. "so when do we start and what will it fully involve?" She asked, now paying close attention to what Brooke was saying.

Brooke leaned back in her chair, "Lets start with the basics, how many curses and defensive spells do you actually know." She needed to know what she was working with before she could go any further. She then reached into her purse and pulled a a box containing another pair of designer sun glasses. "Second here." If she was going to be working with the other girl she was going to be sure that at least Gabby looked the part.

"A few, teaching here hasn't exactly been top class." Gabby said with a sigh at just how much her knowledge of all things magical was lacking. Gabby took the box that was offered to her. "These are for what?" she asked.

"To wear and look nice." Brooke said grabbing out a piece of paper and writing down a few spells.

Confringo, Confundo, Petrificus Totalus, Impedimenta, Locomotor Mortis, Langlock, Levicorpus, Sectumsempra, Serpensortia, Silencio, Stupefy She looked at her list and on a whim wrote Tarantallegra just for fun.

"That should be a good start any questions." She asked again handing Gabby the paper.

Gabby just accepted Brooke's comment about the sunglasses and knew that all would be revealed later. Gabby read the list, "Well I know sectumsempra," Gabby said ruefully, "I've had it thrown at me twice in the last few days." Gabby didn't even sound sad about this now as she had accepted it as part of her life. Gabby had recognised most of the spells, but there was one which she hadn't even heard of before. "Tarantallegra?" She asked, carefully getting the pronounciation correct. Gabby made sure she wasn't touching her wand, she didn't want to start cursing everything in sight.

Brooke just looked at the other girl "It causes your opponents legs to dance in a crazy and uncontrollable way. Not exactly the most affective thing in the world but it makes it hard for them to concentrate and aim, plus it is simply hilarious to watch." Though she wasn't sure that Gabby exactly shared her sense of humor, though that could always be fixed or worked around if need be. She went up to the counter without excusing her self and ordered two more drinks not knowing exactly how much longer they would be there for. "Ok so I know you've heard of most of them but do you know what they actually mean and can you remember them in a tight spot."

Gabby laughed about the spell, imaginaing Vannah dancing. When Brooke returned from the counter, Gabby answered her question. "I know what they all mean, and no I don't remember them in a tight spot. I've been attacked twice recently and both times I forgot about magic. But in a way that's a good thing because then I can't get blamed for anything at the moment." Gabby trailed off, she knew that Brooke would think it was a weak excuse but Gabby was still tired from her last accident.

"When it comes to self defense you really can't get yourself blamed for anything. And there is no way that it is ever a good thing to not fight back, with the exception of planning a riotous revenge and catching them by surprise." Brooke paused then to take a drink, they were really going to have to deal with Gabby's habit of letting people just throw curses at her, being nonreactant was one thing being a doormat was something completely different...something that Brooke could not allow.

"So I guess I really do need your help huh?" Gabby said resigning herself to the fact. "Anything else I gotta learn except for curses?" Gabby asked, curious to see where else Brooke thought she needed improving. Gabby sighed and took some of her drink. She felt that Brooke had a lot in store for her.

"Know any good defensive spells." Brooke said lightly "oh and your wardrobe is getting a face lift." It was said as an afterthought, it was just something that she had done for anyone she had taken under her wings. She would asses the damage and figure out what was needed. Of course Gabby had the whole cute look going for her but their was always something that could make it even better, besides when one needed to be taken seriously one didn't go for cute.

"So your saying I'm a total wreck who is crap at magic?" Gabby asked with a slight smile. She wouldn't show it, but she was grateful for Brooke's guidance and Gabby knew that it would probably pay off one day.

"She can be taught," Brooke said in mock surprise "though total may be a little too harsh." If it had been total Brooke would have had to dedicate a lot more time and chances were that not only wouldn't Gabby have caught on but it probably wouldn't have been worth it either. And Brooke didn't deal with people who weren't worth the effort.

Gabby laughed. "Okay, I'm sure I'll be an amaxing with with a fantastic fasion sense by the end." Gabby smiled, her eyes sparkling, "It'll be all down to you, and it will ahve ben worth it," Gabby added to satisfy Brooke's pride.
