The sun was fading quitely behind her over the roofs of the building across the street. The door opened silently but the heels of Brooke's bronze strappy heels clicked across the the stones. She walked towards the counter fully knowing that she stood out. Her faded and embrodered jeans molded against her legs and covered the top of her shoes and the gold chain hanging down her back from her the neck of her white halter caught the light. She ordered herself a drink and then moved to set down at one of the near by tables before surveying the room. She really needed something to do, anything that would keep her busy and keep boredom at bay.

Gabby's feet led her into the Three Broomsticks. When Gabby realised where she was going, nostalgia hit her as the memories from previous years came flooding back. She had used to meet at the three broomsticks with her old crowd. Castle life was now completely different and Gabby sighed before entering the pub. Looking around the only person she recognised was Brooke, her new roomate. Gabby rolled her eyes a little and went up to the bar, ordering a drink. Collecting her drink Gabby moved to a table away from Brooke not wanting to talk to her. Gabby sat there and pulled out the small book that had been secreted away in her robe pockets. Sipping at her drink, Gabby began to unwind and even forget Brooke's presence.

Speak of the Devil, Brooke thought as she saw Gabby come in, she needed something to keep her busy and Gabby was most definately that. She noted that Gabby was pretty much setting as far away as possible away from her. After their last encounter that wasn't exactly suprising, Brooke didn't go out of her way to be really nice to most people and Gabby seemed to be the type of person who had an issue with that for some strange reason. Brooke finished her drink before going up to the counter and ordering another and then walked, not to her own table, but to Gabby's. "Hello." She said setting down opposite of the other girl. "What brings you here."

Gabby looked up, but she already knew who it was that was sitting opposite her. Gabby snapped her book shut and took a sip of her drink before replying. "Hi Brooke, old memories, peace and quiet." She took another sip of her drink then placed it back on the table. Without realising it, Gabby had started to toy with her hair, winding a curl around her finger. Although Gabby didn't realise, whenever she was anxious of nervous at all, Gabby played with her hair.

Brooke looked at the other girl a slight smile playing across her lips. "You came to a pub for peace and quiet." There were so many other places that fit that desription better then here. But then again there was little to say about Gabby's taste at the moment. It was one of those things that needed to be looked over more before any decision could be made. Though at the moment there were a few things that she could tell definately needed improvement.

"Old memories," Gabby countered. "I used to come here a lot with my old friends, I haven't been back since I returned from home." Gabby felt as if Brooke was assessing her and she wasn't comfortable with it. Picking up her glass, she drained it. "Excuse me, I need another drink," Gabby said as an escape. She stood up and walked to the bar without giving Brooke time to reply. Gabby ordered her drink, telling them not to rush, then collected it and walked slowly back to the table, taking her seat again.

Brooke crossed her arms and gave a closed mouth smile while waiting for Gabby to take her seat. "I think you'll do quite nicely." She said in an almost bored tone, before taking a sip of her drink. Gabby was a perfect project and Brooke was sure that she would have plenty of fun with it, and she was sure that eventually Gabby would be thankful for her help. Though she didn't really care how long that took.

Gaby was on her guard, she didn't like Brooke's tone of voice. "Quite nicely for what?" she asked, keeping her voice even to not give away how she felt.

Brooke flipped her hair over her shoulder, "Oh nothing to concern yourself with darling." She said her tone of voice never changing except for the fact that it ended with a sigh. She wanted to work out some of the details in her own mind before saying anything, not that she needed to explain anything to Gabby anyway. Brooke wasn't really in a habit of explaining herself.

"I think it does concern me," Gabby said quietly, looking Brooke in the eye. "Unless you tell me what you are scheming, I will walk out of here, go back up to the castle and move rooms." Gabby took a few sips of her drink. She sighed, it seemed that all Gabby ever did was defend herself and cause trouble.

Brooke rolled her eyes, in most cases she wouldn't stand for someone talking back at her but in cases as delicate as these she had to make some exceptions. And there was no way she wanted Gabby moving rooms, it would make changing her wardrobe so much more difficult if the situation arised where that was needed. "Fine then...you get to be my newest project." She knew that it probably wouldn't sound all that nice to someone who didn't understand what it meant.

Gabby was taken aback. But she had learned not to start an unnecessary fight so all she said was, "Project?" Her voice emotionless and her face blank.

Brooke knew that she was going to have to explain at least a part of it "It means that I will take you on as my project. I help you learn how to take care of yourself and other necessary skills." She didn't mention that she had a tendency of fighting for people she considered her own, even when it came down to death, though it looked like that was something that Gabby had need of too.

"Why me?" was all that Gabby could manage as her mind was racing, why did Brooke want her as a project, and what did Gabby stand to get out of it? Although the taking care of herself part might come in handy with her recent history.

"Because you have potential, and if I don't help you your chance of living out the year is slim. Plus I've developed a liking for you." Brooke knew that it would probably be one of the few times that she actually told the other girl she liked her but saying things like that just wasn't in her personality description. If Gabby couldn't figure in out from there then maybe the other girl really was a hopeless case and not really worth her time.
