"Jory," Layne said calmly, "It's not that big of a deal. You both obviously like each other. You should be glad that he has a picture. He probably looks at it and remembers you a lot. You should feel special that a person cares for you like that." She nudged her friend, "So, stop worrying." She gave him a reasuring smile. As much as she loved him (as a friend of course) she couldn't help but to think that he worried too much!

"But it was just like two days, maybe three, that we talked," Jory argued. "What if it's not like we remember? I mean, he walked in and was all talking about the music and he's like the only person I've talked to for more than a few minutes at school. What if it turns out that we were only curious because we know about each other?" He was terrified that that was what was happening, he didn't want that to happen. He didn't even know what he wanted. What if it turned out that he really just wanted another guy to experiment with?

"Well, of course you'd be curious. But from what you told me, I think there's more to it. Would he have wanted to take pictures of you if he was only curious? No. Would you want to move out here simply because your curious? Again, no. People can be attracted to other people in as little as a day to two days. You two just happen to fall under that category. I think you both need more time to really understand what's going through your heads, but from what you told me, I definitely think you both like each other for real." Layne stopped her semi-lecture when she realized she was about to start repeating the same things. She couldn't help it though, when she got an opinion on something it was very hard to convince her otherwise.

Jory gave another heavy sigh and didn't argue. At least, he didn't argue immediately. He started thinking about the summer before, when he had experimented with Sean. While he didn't know how he felt about that, he knew that he didn't want to have that with Lyric...not if there was the chance of something more happening. Layne didn't know what had happened with Sean, even though she knew that he had been with him. At least....he didn't think that she knew what had happened between them.
"I don't want it to end up being some big experiment, but when I think about it I don't know if I really want a relationship yet, I don't know if I'm ready for one," he said finally. "I mean...yeah, I've thought about it before, I'd like to find a guy, but I never thought it would be this soon!" He hadn't even experienced anything yet, he was only a sixth year. He wasn't even positive what he wanted to do when he graduated, though he had vague ideas.

Layne, as much as she wished it, had no ideas of the details of Jory and Sean, just that they were together. Maybe had she known, she'd be better at giving advice, but as she didn't know, she gave the best advice as possible. "Well," She started, then paused as the words came to her. "So be good friends? Then, if it turns into anything you'll know what you want. And don't worry about how soon it is. It's not like you're going to marry him. We're in school, this is the time for fun and to learn what love is all about."

Jory sighed and nodded. He didn't know that they could do that but he didn't want to keep talking about it now. He was tired of talking in circles when he knew Layne couldn't understand. "Well, we'll see what happens," he said. He didn't know if he could stop hoping for something to happen between him and Lyric.

Layne nodded, sensing the closure of the topic. But then again, after a short pause she cocked her head to the side and asked, "Will I ever get to meet this guy?" Wasn't it her job as a friend to make a judgement and approve? Well, then again she had no real say in the matter, she just liked to be included.

"I didn't realize I had a choice in the matter," Jory said, raising an eyebrow as he looked over at Layne. He didn't know how Lyric would react to Layne, but he never even considered not letting the two meet, especially since they were in the same school and house. It could be a very awkward meeting. "Besides, if you see him you'll know it's him. He's got this great wild hair..."

Layne grinned, that was precisely was she wanted to hear. She couldn't wait to meet this guy. Wild hair and all! "Okay, just making sure. I've got to make sure he's right for you and all," She winked playfully at Jory. She even had started to make a mental image of what this guy looked like. She hadn't seen anyone totally different around the common room quite yet, so obviously a brunette that blended in well. As other pictures formed she couldn't help but to think that Jory must have awesome taste in guys!

"Well, he's very....unique," Jory said, grinning and shaking his head. But then, he was unique, too. Who else did they know that wanted as many piercings as he did? At least most of the ones he wanted were easily hidden; only certain people would ever see half of them. He couldn't wait to see Lyric again, especially now that he had talked with Layne about it all. It probably showed in his eyes as he looked down at his coffee before taking a long drink.

Layne watched Jory drink his coffee, and she pondered while still chewing her gum. Well, first things first. She dug into her pocket for the original gum wrapper, and once she found it she spit her gum out into it and threw it away. Flavorless gum was gross! "So, should we head back to school now? You've got some unpacking to do and some introductions to make." Layne, of course, wasn't too excited about returning to school but if it meant meeting Lyric than she'd be totally fine with it!

Jory nodded and hurriedly finished his drink to throw it away. "Let's go," he said. He didn't have a problem, though he was kind of afraid of introducing Layne to Lyric without mentioning her to him first. He figured he would deal with that hurdle when he got to it. He would rather see Lyric first, but if it didn't happen that way then he would just have to figure it out then.

"Okay!" Once Jory was done with his drink, Layne linked arms with him, all with a smile, and walked with him back to the castle. If she recalled correctly, all of his luggage from the train would be waiting in the common room, so she had no worries as they walked away from the platform. Together they walked back to the castle, catching up on everything that was unsaid before.
