"Well, it...it's not just because of him, I mean...maybe I could have ignored it if he hadn't left, but it was kind of hard to." And Jory liked Lyric, he could at least admit that now. "I came in one day and his hair was all down and stuff and he said he had gotten a letter from the Headmistress saying he couldn't have his hair like he used to. And then there was one that said we were looking at each other too much and we had to stop. She said we were being too sexual or something," he said, then he looked up at Layne. "But we weren't doing anything! I swear."

Layne almost laughed at that last part, then realized Jory wasn't joking. "Are you serious? Looking at each other too much! Hah, what could be more innocent than that?" She rolled her eyes, "K, that convinced me. You defintely made the right move!" Why is it people were just so....stupid sometimes! Whatever. It wasn't her problem to deal with. "So, this Lyric is here too? A Gryffindor I assume?"

Hearing Layne's reaction made Jory feel immensely better about the whole situation. "Yeah, he moved here, we were in the same house at MI so..." So he hoped they would be again. "I'm looking forward to talking to him again. But....it was kind of hard to talk to him before, he seems just as out of the social loop as I am."

"Hmm," Layne thought outloud. Two quiet Jory's basically. That would mean the conversation moved at a speed of one mile per hour. "Well, talk to him like you'd talk to me. It can't be that hard." Well it could, but that wouldn't help her case at all, "And he's probably still in Gryffindor. I don't think when you switch schools it changes your personality." She shrugged, but that would mean she must have seen him around. Hmm, well she was rarely in the common room unless it was at night or morning. It was very easy to miss your own housemates.

"It's easy to talk to you, though," Jory argued. It was so easy to talk to her. And the one time he had been able to talk to someone he liked they had been friends for years already, and his friend had been more curious than anything. It had been fun, an adventure, he might even say, for the short time it had lasted. "It just seems like...everything I said was the wrong thing, you know?

Layne ignored that last part. Focusing on the talking issue she stated, "Besides the whole, he's a guy and I'm a girl thing, there isn't much of a difference between him and me. We're still people. Just try to talk to him like he was me. Or I can be there if you want to start up a real conversation than conveniently leave or somethin'." Of course, that last thing would most likely make them feel awkward and set up, but it'd get them talking....maybe....a bit. "Jory, you are awesome and a cool guy. Let Lyric see that too!" She finished up her pep talk with a bubble and a pop.

Jory sighed, "Just because you can strike up a conversation with anybody you come in contact with, whether you like them or not, doesn't mean I can." Layne knew that, it was nearly impossible for him to talk to new people, much less Lyric. He didn't know how people like her could be so peppy and up all the time, and he had known her for years.

Layne rolled her eyes, he had a point but she wasn't going to admit that. "Still," she continued, "Just find something to talk about. What's he into?" People always like to talk about themselves and what they are into, that would be a good starting position. From there he could branch out to different subjects, each time making it less awkward.......Well, it made sense in her mind. Maybe with Jory it wouldn't work as well. Hmmm

Jory sighed heavily and tried to think back. Had Lyric ever said anything other than photography? "Well...he likes the same kind of music I do...and he likes photography." He couldn't stop his ears from turning slightly pink at the memory of the little photo shoot they had had before Lyric had left. It hadn't been much, but it had been fun.

Layne smiled, "Who do you like again for music? I forget. Cause, maybe if they are playing in a concert or something you both can go! That would be cool. Or you could model for him for photos or somethin'." She thought her ideas were good at least. Although concerts were generally for muggles, she had seen a few way back when. Then, modeling was always fun! It let's the person behind the camera see who you truly are, a fact that either terrifies people or enlightens them.

"Indie stuff, groups that aren't known very well," Jory answered to her first question, though he wasn't sure how they could enjoy a concert where everyone lets loose when they could barely talk normally. "And..." The pink from his ears spread to his neck and toward his cheeks. Lyric had already taken photos of him. He didn't say it, though, instead he looked down and put both of his hands around the coffee cup.

Layne raised her eyebrow. "And...?" She asked bluntly. Of course, she had ideas of maybe what he was about to say, but she wanted him to tell her himself. It had to be some sort of photoshoot, but why would he be embarrassed about it? Oh dear, she hoped that it was at least appropriate. Her eyes were full of question as she waited for him to respond.

"Before he came here," Jory forced himself to say. "I helped him take his stuff down to the hotel in town." And they had had another long nonconversation. He really hoped they could get over that. Maybe having Layne here would help him be able to talk. "He wanted a picture of me, so we went out and he took a few." He flicked his eyes over at Layne and then looked away almost immediately. The pictures were appropriate, but he could only imagine what the miniature him in the pictures would be doing once they were developed. Lyric probably had a handful of pictures of him tripping over nonexistent rocks.

Layne was expecting something totally different so that even when Jory stopped talking, she was waiting for more. "Oh, is that it?" SHe finally said when a slight pause between them got longer, "He took a picture of you? What were you doing in the picture then?" Layne was still having trouble seeing why this was such a big deal.

Jory sighed heavily; Layne was so very different than him. "It's like...it's just weird, you know? I mean, I met him and then all of a sudden I liked him and we could talk and then I wore my one necklace the the rainbow circle thing on it and then he was asking if I was gay and I was like yeah, are you? and then he was like yeah and then there was the owl from the headmistress and then like the next day he was asking to take pictures of me before he left and I was scared I wouldn't ever even see him again. But we'd only talked for like two days and I don't even know if I just like him because he's only the second guy I've ever met like me and-"
That was when Jory realized he had been rambling on and on without a breath, though he probably only realized that because he ran out of air to talk with and had to take in a big gasp of air. His lips parted to continue on but he glanced over at Layne and closed his mouth.
