Chase's main requirement was that it wasn't his bedroom. He'd brought her there before and it had been horrible. Then there was his winter trip there and everything that had happened. Until his father died, that would be his room, and his wife's. He wouldn't let himself think about it. This was real, somehow. He hadn't expected what he did find beyond the door. The ceiling stretched a full two stories overhead, the room lit with milky streams from the skylight overhead. The bed was the focus of the room, gauzy curtains blowing back with the rush of air from the door. The bed was on a raised platform five steps up from the floor. It was the bedroom in the Master Suite at Firebrand Place. Chase looked down at Dru beside him. Any argument that might exist in his mind would have to wait.

Dru didn't know what she had expected, though honestly she had been focusing more on his light hand against her than anything else. But this...this was certainly not what she had been expecting. "Wow," she breathed, looking around with parted lips. She didn't know where Chase's mind had come up with a room like this, but it was amazing.

Chase's jaw tightened slightly as he looked from Dru back into the room. Among the Firebrands' many talents, excess featured just below keeping a front of propriety. For a moment, the hairs on the back of Chase's neck stood on end; he remembered Dru's reaction to his own bedroom, and how impossible it had been to convince her that comfort like that had a price. Rather than encourage a repeat by talking, he tucked his wand away and turned, drawing her into his arms as his lips found hers.

Any comments were cut short when Dru was pulled close again, and she completely forgot anything she was going to say when their lips touched again. She shifted against him and brought her arms up around his neck again, content enough with the kiss without feeling him. She didn't think that was going to last very long, though. Until it wasn't enough anymore, she concentrated on the kiss.

It was a relief to have that moment passed, and to be kissing her again. He pulled her tightly against him and let his hands move—slowly, so slowly—over her. He wanted her badly, but he had far more control now than he ever had before, so there was no rush, even when he finally brought her up those steps and laid her back against the fine sheets.

Had it really been like this? Dru thought she had a good memory, but she didn't remember being with Chase being so amazing. "I missed you," she murmured against the skin of his neck, then pressed a light kiss there. One hand moved over his chest and stomach, relearning all of the little dips and curves of his muscles. She moved her head to his shoulder and watched her fingers as they moved.

Chase breathed deeply, closing his eyes as he let those words settle in his mind. His arm curved behind her to settle his hand against her skin, anywhere, just to touch her and remind himself this was real. It took him some long moments, but he parted his lips and echoed Dru's words, his own barely audible. I missed you, too. She had to know. He'd thrown himself at her that last time, coaxed and pleaded and practically begged before she'd pushed him far enough away and spite had taken over.

Dru closed her eyes at that and then shifted, tilting her head up to press a kiss to Chase's jaw. Her arm wrapped around his waist and she rested her hand against his ribs. It was so comfortable to be laying there with him again. "This feels good," she murmured, even softer than her previous words.

It did feel good, Chase couldn't deny it. He made a low, rumbling sound of agreement and let himself drift a little, though he didn't expect it to last. This was when conversation resumed, or when clothes got straightened. He didn't have a clue what to talk about, so he didn't try. Everything he thought of was none of his business, and he wasn't even sure he wanted to know. He was sure she wouldn't want to know what he'd been up to. Even the thought of what he might be doing had always been enough to upset her.

Dru didn't speak then, but let herself rest against Chase and enjoy the feeling of closeness that was there. She had missed so much and she wasn't sure what to do next. She knew they could talk, but that had never ended up like she wanted it to. The silence wasn't awkward, but perhaps that was because she wasn't letting herself think just yet about something like that.

Chase had no idea how long the two of them lay there before he heard sounds at the door. They echoed through the large room, and his brows drew together in annoyance. "Someone's trying to get in," he said. He didn't want to leave Dru, but he made himself, pressing a kiss into her hair that ended with a long pause to breathe her in before standing. He started gathering his clothes to dress. "I'm going to remind whoever it is that it's past curfew."

Dru didn't get up to dress, but stayed there in the bed and pulled up a blanket to wrap herself in. She didn't care to go hunting down her clothes just yet. Plus, it gave her time to watch Chase as he dressed. It was fascinating how his muscles moved beneath his skin, and she wondered how she had been able to push him away. What had he been doing since then? She hadn't done much, other than ruin her chances with Silver.

Chase pulled his clothes on, and his shoes as well. He didn't straighten them perfectly, nor did he give more than a passing run of the fingers through his hair, but he'd been Head Boy long enough that he was easily recognized and didn't feel like getting in the Daily Prophet again. He'd been glad for the end of his fifteen minutes.
He opened the door with his wand drawn and his eyes dark, and had to look down to see a kid who couldn't have been thirteen staring open-mouthed at him. "It's past curfew," Chase said, in the same deep, intimidating voice he'd used when he'd first seen Dru. The kid nodded, then turned and disappeared before Chase could figure out what house he was in to dock points. He shut the door and locked it again. "Damn kids."

Dru curled one arm under her head and continued to watch Chase, now slightly blurry from across the room. "I'm sorry I'm keeping you from your job," she said, her voice gently teasing. She gave a small smile then reached out to get her glasses and slid them on again. Then she settled against the bed again and focused once more on Chase.

Chase turned back toward Dru with a smirk. "I'll make you pay for it later," he teased back. His eyes flickered with crimson at the thought. If he'd been out and bored, he might have chased the kid down, but from the look on his face, he was heading straight back to his Common Room. Chase made his way slowly, but steadily back toward the bed, taking each step one by one.
