Luna was walking in the library trying to find a good book to read. She wanted to find a book so when she was done with her homework she could relax. After about ten minutes Luna had found a book it was about Unicorns. She smiled this sounded like a great book. But there was a problem the book was on the very top which she couldn't reach. Luna wanted to read this book really bad. So she started to think of many ways to get the book. She knew that she couldn't climb the bookshelves that would be bad and not lady like, she also thought to use her wand but she would get in bigger trouble. Luna just decided to get a different book. After Luna picked a book about Defense charms and went to read it at a table after a few mintues she got bored with the book and closed it. She started to wonder if there was any interesting book here.

Melody had almost gotten all the way to the common room when she realized she forgot the book she had checked out. Sure enough, as she walked back in, Melody saw the dull book sitting right where she left it. Although another person was there as well. Walking over, Melody noticed that the grl there looked like either a first or second year so she smiled. Younger people were always less intimidating than her own peers. Besides, this was a girl and not another guy that would try to ask her out. That came as a relief in a way.
So, Melody arrived at the table and said politely, "Hey there. Mind if I join you? I have an incredibly boring book that I need an excuse to not read." She knew better than to assume that the girl would be okay with her sitting, so Melody stood by the chair just in case. Even with younger people, one could never be too sure.

Luna looked at Melody she looked a little shy and timid, because no one so far wanted to be near her. She started to wonder if this person really meant it so she nodded anyway.

Melody sat down, a little cautious of the girl who hadn't said anthing yet. "Oh, I'm Melody by the way." she said, taking a piece of hair and twirling it in her fingers, "What's your name?" She let her hair drop to her shoulders as she asked. Melody had been meaning to break the habit of hair-twirling for the past couple days and meeting new people didn't help at all. Oh well, she had a lifetime ahed of her to break the habit so she didn't worry too much.

Luna smiled and got out her notepad. She started to write in after she was done she showed it to Melody. 'My name is Luna nice to meet you Melody.' Luna like Melody because of her being so kind to her. Melody reminded Luna of a older sister.

Melody read the note yet hid her confusion. Why was she writing? With an internal shrug, Melody realized she didn't really mind. The girl was probably just shy. "Nice to meet you too Luna." She showed a bit of a friendly smile. How could anyone not be happy when being with a younger kid? For the moment, all of Melody's worries seemed to slip away as she continued talking, "And Luna is a really pretty name! What house are you in?"

Luna smiled it was because Melody had said that her name was pretty. She wrote in her notepad again and showed Melody it said. 'I am in Hufflepuff and nice to meet you Melody.' She started to smile more sweeter because she felt like she could trust Melody.

"Awesome! I'm a Hufflepuff too." After seeing the near dead common room, then meeting only Markise from their house she had begun to think Hufflepuffs were just a myth. "So, are you new here? I just got here a couple weeks ago so I'm still getting used to everything and trying to met more people." Melody gave a slight shrug. She had met a decent amount of people, mostly guys but they still counted.

"Yeah, I know what you mean. I was originally home schooled. This place is much bigger than my living room." Melody chuckled. When she had first stepped into the building she had been overwhelmed with the size of the school. Now she had sort of gotten used to it, but there was always plenty more to explore and discover.

Luna smiled and showed Melody her new note. 'How were you home schooled? Were you how schooled since you were five that is how long I was home schooled. The reason was because of me being small and getting sick easily. That is why I don't talk ever since mommy and daddy I haven't and now when I do I can only speak for like a minute or else I start coughing really bad'

Melody nodded, "Yeah, I've been homeschooled since I was five. Only until recently...." She trailed off thinking of the things that led her to be where she was today. Realizing she had left her sentence hanging, Melody quickly added, "Out of curioisty, why...uh, how come you ended up here?" Melody felt bad for asking since if the same question was asked to her, she wouldn't answer. She couldn't help but to note that before, Luna had said foster parents and not she said her mom and dad. Maybe Melody had more in common with the first year then she had planned.

'My mom and dad came here and they became slytherins. The reason why they got in to slytherin was because of them being pure bloods and also my great grand parents and every one else in my family was in slytherin. My foster parents are also pure bloods but they were both in Ravenclaw. So they know I was going here.' Luna just smiled then all of sudden became shy when she showed Melody what she wrote.

Melody read the note. Then she read it again. How could this sweet little girl be from a family of Slytherins? She blinked in surprise but said anyway, "That's pretty cool." The question of what happened to the girl's real parents was in the mind of Melody. If she asked, such a personal question it would either create akwardness or it would cross the line of what she could ask. Taking a strand of hair again, Melody played with it between her fingers then finally asked, "If you don't mind me asking, what happened to your birth parents?"

Luna thought long and hard of how she should write it finally after about two minutes she started to write after she was done she showed Melody. "Mommy and daddy were killed when I was eight. They were killed by a man I think who was a death eater. When he came daddy hid me in the closet so I would be safe there was a hole in the door so I took a look and saw my parents being killed. Ever since then I have been to five foster families. The first four only had me a month each then I got to go to my new foster who I have been with for almost three years.'
