Markise wanted this too badly to turn away. He wouldn't take Ariel back, wouldn't sleep with him, wouldn't answer to him, but he'd take whatever Ariel was willing to give up to a point. He twined his arms around the back of Ariel's neck, one hand settling on his shoulder, the other sifting back into that thick hair, and returned that light motion. Maybe they both needed the comfort. Was it so wrong to do this?

Ariel tightened his arms again and buried his face in Markise's soft hair. I'm sorry for everything. He was trapped, though, and he wasn't sure if it was because he enjoyed what he did or if he just thought he couldn't leave or some mixture of the two. As long as he felt like that, there was no getting out of it, there was no hope for a relationship. So he took what he could.

Markise didn't know how long they sat there together, just holding on. He didn't even know what time he'd come into the castle. The corridor was almost as empty as he'd hoped, the only exception being Ariel, and Markise was glad of it. Whatever had happened was enough to keep him here, at least until summer. He refused to think too hard about actually leaving, or about staying either.
It wasn't until the torches lit that the little motions of his hands stopped and he lifted his head. "Curfew," he said softly. Filch and Mrs. Norris would be out soon, and if anyone was likely to wander down this particular corridor it was them.

Ariel's eyebrows came together and he didn't pull his head up immediately. He didn't want to leave the comfort of being with Markise like he had been. "Do we have to?" he asked softly, still refusing to pick his head up. He had let himself take the comfort and had cracked his wall and now that he had he didn't want to patch it back up. He wanted to stay there in the corridor away from the world.

Markise's hand stroked through Ariel's hair, and his chest constricted at the words. When had Ariel ever asked for direction, even absently? "I don't want to, either," he admitted. What did he want? He knew what he wanted, but he didn't for a moment think it would be a good idea. Still, to sleep one night in the Room of Requirement, to just hold each other, sleep, and maybe kiss... "We can't sleep here." Was he trying to talk himself into it, or hoping Ariel would say goodnight?

Ariel sighed heavily. He felt like if he pulled away the spell would be broken, that if he broke the soothing motion of Markise's hand against his hair he would immediately fall back to hiding again. He picked his head up. "I know," he said softly, avoiding Markise's eyes. He felt weak for letting Markise see this in him, but he couldn't help feeling like he needed the comfort.

Markise's brows knitted as he looked at Ariel. He didn't want to let him go now, not like this. What if he let go and Ariel went out tonight? What if something happened that he could have stopped? He couldn't let himself think like that, he wasn't Ariel's keeper. But if they both wanted the same thing...
"If we went to the Room of Requirement, would you... would it be too much?" he asked. He'd told Ariel that he wouldn't take him back and he meant it, even if a mute voice in the back of his head knew how easily he could be convinced otherwise. Would that one statement be enough? Somehow he thought so.

Yes. It would be horrible, it would be torture. But it would also be relief and comfort. "Would you be okay with it?" he asked, though he realized how redundant the question was when Markise was the one that had brought up the idea. Spending the night in the Room of Requirement sounded...rejuvenating, as odd as it felt to think it. Comfort from Markise was the only comfort Ariel could hope to get, and he would take it however he could.

Markise nodded, though he wasn't at all sure how he'd feel half an hour from now. Probably very, very hard. "Let's go, then," he said softly. He just wouldn't think about it. He wasn't drunk, he could control himself. Right? One of Markise's hands pushed lightly at Ariel's hair, then he leaned in for a brief press of lips to the edge of Ariel's jaw. When he pulled away, he hid his now-dry handkerchief in a pocket, and tried to get them going before he could change his mind. magikal05.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=ror&thread=4112
