Silver didn't waste any time once he was in the hospital wing. He scanned the ward for a nurse, for anyone really, as he tried to balance his voice between loud enough to carry and not so loud he'd deafen Lafra.
"We need help in here!" he called tentatively.

She had finally completly looked up, her head was swimming, preoccupied with the question from earlier. She knew it was unfair he answered and she didn't, but she wanted to answer she just wasn't able to for now.
Her body finally relaxed as she could tell they made it, she was sure that she didn't have to worry about anything else, her hands dropped from him as her head pushed away from his chest, her eyes were barely open now, she wanted to drift off, and she knew as soon as her head touched the bed, she would be able to do so.

That was exactly the reason Silver hadn't found a bed for her yet. He knew the temptation, and he wanted the nurse to tell him it was all right first. When she finally appeared, everything seemed to happen in a blur. His arms were empty and his coat was discarded, and Silver could only stand a short distance away and watch.

Lafra wasn't sure what was happening, the prospect of just drifting off was much more appealing to her then to pay attention, she wasn't sure if she was even able to keep awake anymore. Something about Silver just kept her awake, she wasn't sure what it was, but she supposed she could think about that some other time.
All her thoughts were pushed to the back, she felt things, ones that burned so much, it hurt more than when she first got some of the wounds. She flinched and heard herself groan.
It had then all just stopped, as if something had completly numbed her, maybe the nurse had given her something, she wasn't sure, but the burning sensation was slowly dying out and all she coudl hear were the thoughts in her mind, Lafra wasn't even sure if she was awake anymore.
She wasn't sure how long it took, or when it was all over, but she was able to relax.

Silver didn't know if he'd breathed as he watched. He'd been too concerned over whether she'd be all right to be self-conscious, and somehow he'd answered the nurse's questions automatically. He told her where he'd found Lafra and how, told her what he'd done, and tried to keep his mind blank otherwise. There were too many associations, and he didn't need them.
She'd given him some sort of calming potion and directed him to sit once she had done everything she could for Lafra, and so he sat as close as he could, wondering at his own thoughts. "You're beautiful," he observed, only catching himself after the words were out. Then he shifted, drawing out his journal and the quill tucked into it, both slightly crushed from being crammed into a pocket too small for them. "I really shouldn't be allowed to talk," he said. Was she even awake?

Lafra’s head swam, images, most of them not even relevant to what had happened earlier, Lafra watched them fade, she heard voices, but didn’t even care to make sense of them, it was one voice that caught her attention.
Somehow, she was able to feel her surroundings, her mind wiped clean of any thoughts, as if her brain was at rest and she could just feel everything. She heard Silver say something, she was barely able to catch it, but somehow she was able to understand. She wasn’t sure how to react, she wasn’t even sure if she was externally reacting to anything. What was said next made her want to laugh, but she wasn’t sure how she could do even that.
Not long after Lafra groaned, she slowly tried to raise her hand, but it fell back, she was feeling sore. Lafra attempted to open her eyes, but they felt so heavy as well. She gritted her teeth, her hand was failing and her eyes, what happened to being in control? Lafra groaned again, her still still failing to open, they were too heavy.

Silver nearly stood from his chair, but he was so close that it wasn't necessary. He leaned close instead, setting his journal and quill on the small table beside the bed. He didn't know if she'd heard him, or if she was in pain, but he would likely have run for the nurse if it wasn't for the calming draught. Rather, he extended one large hand, and after a moment's debate, settled it on top of hers. His skin was always noticeably warmer than most people's, and hers felt cool against his palm.
"It's okay, don't move," he said softly. "You're safe now... Lafra, you're safe." He was still too concerned to feel reasonably stupid for anything, and so he only waited to see if she would relax, or it he'd only made things worse.

Lafra tried, only this time attempting to move her fingers, she was able to move her index finger, maybe she was waking up. She kept trying and soon enough she could feel all her fingers move. She took a deep breath and slowly was able to open her eyes, but quickly nuts them as the bright light from the torch in front burned. She tried again, this time focusing to the side, her eyes didn’t hurt as much, but now she was able to see him. For a second, she was confused, why was he still here?
Lafra didn’t say anything; she was too embarrassed as she remembered what happened probably not to long ago. “Hey.” She finally managed weakly, not sure what else to say, she felt quite awkward.

"Hey," Silver returned.
A brief moment later he realized that his hand was still resting on Lafra's and it tensed slightly, suddenly unsure of its welcome. She hadn't asked for this, after all. He had difficulty looking away from her, the opposite of his usual inability to look directly at someone he didn't already know. Of course, finding someone nearly dead and... and everything else that had happened... maybe it brought people together? Get a grip, he told himself.
He searched for something to say, and that was as usual. Conversation wasn't a strong point for him, though he could wax poetic over a notebook for hours. He cleared his throat lightly, trying to gather up the courage to say something. "So... do you like have someone you want me to get for you or something?" Please don't say a boyfriend... He couldn't believe his mind still went in that direction at a time like this.

She looked up away from him, her mind buzzing with names. Definitely not Zane, she didn't want her cousin to find out either, she would have to tell Storm when she wanted to. A name came to mind and she immediately said it.
"Vincent... Vincent Mezzanotte." she paused and turned her head slightly to look at him.
"He's like a brother... he would... want to know." she had to take deep breaths in between, her side hurting making her flinch a bit. She wasn't sure why she had to add that bit of information, as if reassuring him that Vincent was only a brother.
It then dawned on her that if Silver had to go and get him, then he would have to leave... and she didn't want that to happen.
"No, scratch that. Ouch, never mind... don't... get him" she had tried to get up, but the overwhelming pain made her fall back, why was she saying all this, why did it matter to her if he assumed the wrong thing about her relationship with Vincent? She felt her cheeks get red, but he could pass it of as only a reaction to the stabbing pain at her side.

"No, no sit back, I won't go anywhere, I promise," Silver said, leaning forward again. She stopped trying to get up, but she was flushed, and so he looked around for the nurse again.
His mind had rolled straight through disappointment at the sound of a guy's name to relief at the phrase like a brother straight back to concern. He hadn't intended to leave, not unless she asked him to, or unless the nurse kicked him out. Still hearing her... not ask him to leave... was another relief.
When Silver caught the nurse's eye, she came over and he told her the name, looking back at Lafra as he did so. Did she still want that Vincent guy to come? Or was that what she'd changed her mind about? Was it him at all?

"I'm fine." she said more so to get the nurse to leave, of course it didn't work as the nurse checked, Lafra glanced at Silver then back to the nurse. Lafra tried to explain the redness without saying anything, and after a while, the nurse seemed to get the idea. Finally, the nurse had walked away with a very smug look making Lafra roll her eyes.
"I mean... no don't get him, he is too troublesome." she was mentally laughing, a hint of a smile on her face, Vincent's laziness was probably the most entertaining part about him, Lafra shook her head to clear her thoughts of him, questions were ow buzzing in her mind about Silver... more so what she said to him.
"Uhm... Silver...?" she paused looking away from him, the blush was still there, but had died down to a light pink rather than the previous red.
"I didn't happen... to say anything... stupid. Did I?" she was controlling her urge to take the covers and throw them over her face, her cheeks were flushing red again, her body was such a traitor.

Silver was totally oblivious to what was going on in Lafra's mind, as well as the silent communication between her and the nurse. He was lost in his own thoughts, and beginning to overthink. If this Vincent was too much trouble, he hoped the nurse wouldn't get him after all. That would leave him with Lafra longer, anyway.
He blinked at the sound of his name and pulled himself out of his thoughts. "No, you didn't say anything... even a little stupid. I mean... we talked about writing a little, but that's not stupid." No, but you're getting painfully close to stupid, he told himself.
"Why, did you want to say something stupid?" Silver closed his eyes when he heard himself, and shook his head slightly. hoping his long hair would hide the heat in his cheeks. "I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who has," he added, then looked hesitantly back at Lafra.

Lafra giggled a bit, knowing that overdoing it would hurt. She found him quite cute and shook her head.
"Don't say that, if you write then you are creative... and creativity is the cessation of stupidity." she paused, it was getting easier to breath, but it still hurt a bit, she was just trying her best to ignore it, but flinching wasn't really helping.
"You're far from being stupid." she concluded, the small grin from earlier returning, only it was for him rather than in reminiscent of the past.

Silver's lips quirked into a rare smile. A somewhat sheepish one, but a smile nonetheless. "Thank you," he managed. He knew he wasn't stupid, his grades were proof enough, but his social skills were... lacking. He'd always preferred to observe.
"I like that... the cessation of stupidity," he repeated. "I've read that creativity is seeing what others see and thinking what no one else has thought, but I think your version fits better." His smile crooked up a bit further with that.
