Morning. "I don't want to think about morning," Markise said. It was a stupid thing to say, unforgivable, but it was too hard to pretend with any kind of reminder about reality. There was no reality as far as he was concerned, only the flashing lights and music of the club. Markise's mind tried to intrude, insisting that he should stop now, that he was opening gates he didn't want opened, but he closed his eyes tightly against the thoughts. He hid himself all week and he got so little physical contact, none if Anna didn't count. He wanted this, and he was going to hold onto it until he couldn't justify it to himself anymore.

Ariel nodded in agreement. However much he wanted to entertain the thought that they might still be together the next morning, he also didn't want to will this away. He pulled Markise loosely against his body and continued dancing. "You don't have to," he murmured, if only so that he could test the boundaries and have his lips brush Markise's ear ever so slightly.

Markise let out a surprised breath at the energy that streaked through him with that teasing touch. He tensed, and part of him thought that now was the time to put down his rules, the same ones he gave Robbie. Or had given. He couldn't make his mouth say it though, not just yet. He tried to ignore it, instead. If he didn't let it affect him, it wouldn't, and he'd be safe. Ariel couldn't get to him unless he let it happen.

Ariel didn't try again, letting it go as though it had been an accident. Markise hadn't pulled away, but he didn't want to press his luck. He wanted to ask for a kiss, but that would definitely be pressing his luck. He did, however, move his other hand from Markise's side to wrap around his waist along with the other one. The movements were affecting him, and it would be useless to try to pretend nothing was happening, so he didn't say anything, only kept dancing.

There was no pretending that Markise wasn't affected as well. The tension eased a bit when There was no more warm breath and teasing lips at his ear, and he let out a low sigh. His arms were already twined around the back of Ariel's neck, so he couldn't find any fault in where Ariel's were. It felt as good as any of this did, despite who it was. He refused to think that it could be because of who it was. "The song is ending," Markise said. Surely Ariel would be ready to stop now. One of them had to be.

Ariel's hands spread out over Markise's back and he pulled him just a little closer. "One more?" he asked softly, his lips barely an inch from Markise's ear. Just one more, then he would let Markise go. One more and he could make his arms unwrap from Markise's waist and he could walk away. He didn't know how he could possibly stay away when he knew Markise would still be there, but he could make himself do it.

Markise nodded lightly, but without pause. "One more," he agreed. What was one more dance out of a whole night? He didn't want to think about that right now. He wanted to throw himself into the music and the motion and forget for now. He worked to put his emotions aside and stop thinking again. He let himself dance instead, let himself focus on the motions and the music instead of what he did and didn't want from his partner.

Ariel breathed a relieved sigh at the continued dance. He had to work to keep up with Markise, but he did it, and the result was that his blood rushed and his breath quickened. He wanted more so badly, though he didn't ask for it. He took what Markise was giving without a word. His eyes were barely open, just enough to see the motions of Markise's body that he could feel so easily.

Markise kept his eyes closed, something he did a lot, really. He could still see the flashes of light, but it cut out the distractions of the crowd and he could concentrate that much better on the motion of his body. His mind forgot what his body couldn't, and he let go completely. His partner was a body to dance against, a prop that made him feel that much more wanted for the tension that fed his own.

Ariel missed the transition to the next song, and only realized they had gone an extra one when he faintly thought that the song was going on for far too long. So when the song began to die down, he forced himself to open eyes that had closed to let himself pretend. "Do you want to go?" he asked, just loud enough to be heard over the music. He hoped that Markise would say no and they could keep dancing, but he knew it was a slim chance.

Markise nearly blinked open his eyes, nearly asked go where? He shook his head instead and kept moving. If he didn't have to go looking for another partner, why would he? This was working for him, this was taking some of that pent-up energy he had no other outlet for and letting it trickle out or come in bursts. If Ariel could keep up, he could stay.

Ariel gave a low groan that wouldn't be heard and that Markise wasn't close enough to feel and continued. If Markise wasn't going to make them stop, then Ariel wasn't going to. He was going to dance until Markise made him stop. His hands moved on Markise's back and then forward to rest on his hips again. One thumb absently found the place on Markise's hip that Ariel himself liked so much and brushed against it through the fabric.

That sent a jolt through Markise, and music-hazed eyes opened even as one hand dropped, stopping Ariel's from doing anything more. He kept moving, but shook his head. They could dance, but he wasn't about to let it get so bad that he'd lose control of his ability to say no. That particular spot hadn't even been on his out-of-bounds list before, but it certainly was now.

Ariel met Markise's eyes for a moment, then gave a curt nod and pulled his hand up to Markise's side, just for safety doing the same with the other. So he couldn't touch Markise other than how he had been, at least he wasn't getting pushed away. Maybe it was his way of torturing himself to be there and dance with Markise when it was so obvious nothing could come of it, whether it be emotionally or physically. It was better than nothing, though, right?

Markise could feel the shift of tension in Ariel's body, and he couldn't ignore it. He unfolded his arms and one hand smoothed lightly against that hair Ariel had pushed back for him. Then he turned in the arms around him, his hands settling over those at his sides and drawing them forward. He didn't mind being held and he loved being touched, but there was a point where it wasn't dancing anymore, and that was the point he couldn't cross.
