"I think that I'm sorry pertains to when the other one f~ed up the relationship," Ariel grumbled, more to himself than Lafra. He shouldn't even have said anything. He really needed this smoke. Just a couple more minutes and they would be outside. Just a couple more turns and they would come out of that little doorway into the Entrance Hall and they would be outside.

She was taken a back by his answer, her raised brow only rose higher, and her frown deepened.
"I'm not sure about what happened, but whining and b~ing about it wont really do you much good." so she wasn't a relationship expert, but even that was obvious enough for her to figure out. She didn't know anything about the relationship or even who else was involved, but since when does such an attitude ever come though?

Ariel raised an eyebrow and glanced over at her. "I wasn't aware I was whining or b~ing about it," he said, then rolled his eyes and focused on the floor in front of him. "You asked a question and I gave you an answer, it's as simple as that." What was with this girl? Was she trying to get a rise out of him? She was ridiculous. Besides, he thought he was dealing with it all rather well.

"Mentally you are, or else you wouldn't be so engrossed in it. You obviously think of whoever it is a lot." his tone didn't really get to her, she shrugged it off, she was used to it now.
"Alright, so I'm prying, but you seem so... cold, are you always like this?" maybe she shoudl just give up and find her way back to the common room, but she wasn't sure what direction that would be in, she seemed to barely remember the school anymore.
She was now chewing on her lip, half a mind to just leave, who cares if she got lost, she'd eventually bump into someone else.

Ariel rolled his eyes, "What does it matter to you?" He hated people that acted all high and mighty all the time, everyone else needed their help and nothing anybody said ever bothered them. He shook his head as they went into the Entrance Hall and headed to the main door. He had never asked her to help him, wouldn't ask her for help even if he needed it.

“It doesn’t matter, I’m not going to gain or lose either way, but, can I say the same about you?” she felt her body relax as they came to the entrance hall, turning back, she recalled only going down that way once, but she didn’t take the turn that they had just come from.
So she was being a bit of an annoyance, but through the whole thing he had been nothing less than cold, and he seemed so… full of himself in someway. What sucked was that because she didn’t want to go back to the common room, too many first years were there, and everywhere else was crawling with annoying girls who squealed and gossiped, she was in no mood to stay inside.
“Ok fine, I’m sorry.” She managed to say. She wrapped her arms around her frame a frown was on her face, she didn’t want this guy to hate her, or be annoyed, she had enough enemies as it is because of whom her parents were, it would suck even more if she gained another one.

Ariel pretended that he hadn't heard Lafra and continued on out into the open air. He cursed softly as a cool breeze hit him and he turned to head to a little alcove he had found rather useful for a quick getaway. "I don't need some girl trying to fix me," he said to her over his shoulder. Not that he needed fixing, anyway. He pulled his hands from his jeans pockets and put them into the ones in his worn jacket.

"But you admit you need fixing." she followed him out, wondering what his reaction would be. Getting closer she placed a hand on his upper arm, stopping him from going any farther.
"I'm not perfect, I'm probably the girl that's getting under your skin, and I'm not asking for you to trust me or anything, but you've got to let someone in." her voice was softer now, kinder in more ways than one. What did she want from this guy? Did she pity him, did she just want to do something good for once?

Ariel pulled out his pack of cigarettes with his still free hand and his other curled around his box of matches before he turned angry eyes on Lafra. "Girls like you," he started, glaring into her eyes. "You always think that everyone needs help. You always think that everyone wants you to help them even when it's obvious they don't want anything from you!" He glared for a moment more, then jerked his arm away. "Go find some other way to feel important."

He obviously didn't know what he was talking about. Lafra was the last person who would want to help anyone, in fact, this was so odd for her, she usually wouldn't have cared much about the guy and would have ditched him ages ago.
Lafra's eyes darkened, who the hell did he think he was? Acting all high and mighty. She felt her jaw tighten, her Grey eyes had gone dark.
"And guys like you need to get their heads out of their asses for once. Take a look around you and look at the reality of everything, your pessimism isn't going to get you anywhere." her voice was slightly raised now.
His last comment made her laugh, it was dark. She crossed her arms over her chest, her jaw was relaxing, did her really think she cared about that crap.
"Oh please, you speak as if you know me, if I get anymore 'important' I'll probably be found dead in the forbidden forest." her eyes flashed, it reminded her that she had to keep away from her aunt and uncle, if Caius and Eirene caught her alone... well she'd be royally screwed.

Ariel rolled his eyes and kept walking until he found the little alcove. He hadn't said he knew her, anyway, he had said those things about people like her. There was a difference. "Well, you know, if you didn't act like that, then I wouldn't say anything." He shook his head and pulled out a cig and put the pack back in his pocket. Then he pulled out a match and struck it to light the little black stick now hanging from his lips.

"I highly doubt that." she was able to mutter, unknowingly she was still walking a bit behind him, she knew that she had to get to the lake, but it was on the way so she didn't really have much of a choice.
"I don't think anyone else would have a problem with the way I act, your head is just so high beyond the clouds you don't seem to realize the gist of anything." she just wanted to get to the lake, wherever he stopped, she would continue on from there, she needed to read, the book still clutched in her arms reminded her of what to look forward to, silence and peace.

Ariel rolled his eyes and leaned back against the alcove wall and lit his cig. "So first you yell at me for saying you act like that, then you admit to acting like that, make up your mind," he said. He took a long drag as he slid the little box of matches back into his pocket. "Besides, if I wanted or needed anything from you, I would have asked for it." It was so good to have his fix, his hands had ceased shaking almost immediately and he closed his eyes to rest his head back against the stone.

"I have made up my mind, I don't act the way you perceive it to be, everyone else would probably think my actions are normal." this guy had a one tracked mind, what a pain. He reminded her of one other person, but he was completly out of her life, and that was good.
"Seriously, men these days are so egotistical it's almost pathetic." she was obviously saying it was him, turning her back she turned to walk towards the lake, not caring anymore about him or his lack of understanding, his pessimism was ruining her day, not that it wasn't bad enough with having to watch her back every few seconds. Maybe a good read would soothe her.

Ariel snorted and decided it best not to mention that if he was as egotistical as she claimed he wouldn't have helped her out of the stair so quickly. He let her walk away. However satisfying it could be, he could let her go without another comment and let himself know that he had won. He hated when people thought they were better than everyone else, that everyone else deserved their pity. He knew he wasn't better than most people, he just wanted to be left alone.
