Ariel refused to admit what his body was telling him. His hands were shaking slightly, at least they would have been had they not been shoved so deeply into his pockets. No, he didn't need one of those little black sticks, they were just one of the few things that helped him relax anymore. He wasn't even to a pack a day yet. His eyes were still bloodshot, still had those marks beneath them, and his fingers had black stains on them from the ink he had splashed on them while working on his latest potions essay. He shifted his shoulders to settle his thin jacket more comfortably around him, he would be outside in just a few more minutes...

Lafra turned a corner in the corridor, a curse issued from her lips, she could have sworn this was the right way. It had barely been a few days since her return, but she could have sworn she still remembered the school. Looking around, she saw one other student and a sigh of relief was heard.
"Hey, sorry to bother you but..." she trailed off coming closer to him. A brow was raised as she took in the guy before her. He didn't seem to be 'fine' as the majority would say if you asked. Nonetheless she asked him the most used question.
"Are you alright?" she asked coming closer, he seemed so... off. Something wasn't right and she couldn't just ignore it. Sure she never really cared much about others, but when someone seemed to be... pained with something she couldn't be a complete b~h and ignore them.

Ariel glanced up at the girl, glad for the cover his long hair gave him, and shook his head. "I'm grouse," he said, slipping into his Australian slang as he seemed to have a habit of doing when meeting new people around the school. He seemed to remember calling some girl a whinging pom.... He blinked and looked up at her, "What d'you need?" She had obviously approached to ask a question, and the quicker she asked and he answered the quicker he would be outside.

Her brow went up farther, she was sure the word he used was in reference to a species of bird, but she blew it off, she could never keep up with the terminology those her age used.
"Well... you might think this is really silly, but I could have sworn there was a tapestry right there and a door right beside it. I remember it being an abandoned classroom, but I can't seem to find it... I'm sure it's on this floor..." she paused and shook her head, she was ranting.
"Sorry... got carried away." she muttered craning her neck to look behind him, but there was absolutely nothing, except for another corner to turn. Lafra felt frustrated, she may have disappeared from the school, but she certainly didn't forget her way around.

Ariel blinked slowly and his eyes darted around the hall, "I don't remember any tapestries on this hall." He brought one of his lightly shaking hands up to brush at his hair only to give his head a rough shake to send it back over his eyes. Just the edge of his tattoo sleeve showed below the bottom of his jacket sleeve before he closed his hand tightly and shoved it back into his pocket.

Lafra once again frowned, this time it was not because she couldn't find what she was looking for, but because of his hand. The little shake had startled her, maybe he was sick and didn't want to say anything.
"You need to sit down, don't over exert yourself." she offered him her hand, she could always help him get wherever he was going, seeing him like this was kind of... sad for her to watch. She had never met him, but it would be rude to ignore his state and continue on, the classroom could wait.
"I'm Lafra by the way." she added, might as well get the introductions out of the way.

"A-Logan," Ariel said, then closed his eyes and shook his head. If he had to stop himself from giving his first name, then it was worse than he thought. "I'll be fine, you're not a Prefect, are you?" he asked when he opened his eyes again. He just wanted to get outside. He shifted on his feet and glanced around the hall. Considering he had smoked with the Head Boy, he didn't see himself getting in any trouble, but he wasn't going to take chances.

"No, I'd never accept being a prefect. Although your question... baffles me, is there a reason you asked?" she let her hand fall, and took a step back, it looked as though he wanted to go somewhere, maybe she should just walk with him, just in case.
"May I at least accompany you to wherever you are going, I couldn't live with myself if the next day you ended up in the hospital wing."so she was being a bit... annoying, but it was an instinct, she may not have seemed to be nice, but she preferred to make sure a person was alright if she passed by them, to ease up the guilt of completely ignoring them.

"I'm going outside, I just need a smoke, then I'll be fine." Ariel glanced down the corridor again. If she wanted to follow him, he didn't care, he just needed to get outside. It had been way too long, the last one he had had was one the night before just before curfew. It was nearly dinner time now. And she wasn't a prefect, that meant he didn't have to worry about being turned in, he hoped.

She bit down on her lip, if he wanted to smoke she would have to endure it, it wasn't the fact that she hated the smell, but not long ago, on her more rebellious stage, she had tried it out, she remembered the one Italian guy she used to always be with, he was a family friend that she had grown to like.
"Fine by me."she waited for him to proceed, taking a step back to give him room, she didn't want to seem... clingy, like those over helpful girls who just did it for the sake of seeming good.

Ariel sighed but shrugged and started to walk. He really didn't care if she came with him, but he would rather have fed his addiction in peace. He wasn't even sure he would make it very far past the castle walls before he pulled out his little boxes. "Weren't you looking for something?" he asked, glancing over at her. Either she had forgotten, or it really wasn't that important.

She sighed and nodded, she was, but it could wait, that was.
"Yes I was, but I'm thinking that if I leave for a few minutes and come back it might just appear."she shrugged, sometimes Hogwarts just worked that.
Lafra fell into stride right behind him, her eyes on him, making sure he wasn't going to collapse, if he was in this state because of not smoking, then his addiction must be really bad, she remembered it wasn't that bad for her, she had been able to give it up.

Ariel knew what someone that was really addicted looked like, and he also knew what he looked like. He wasn't so much addicted as hooked. He could go for more than an hour without having a smoke, even if he didn't like doing it. No, the people that were truly addicted went through more than a pack a day. He was proud to note that he had been nursing the same pack for going on three days now, even if it was only because he hadn't been able to make it outside that it had lasted the third. "This school is nuts," he muttered, if only to keep from concentrating on himself.

"It's almost a shame." she caught on to what he said, his lack of words made her wonder if she really was needed, maybe he just needed sometime alone, she promised herself as soon as they made it out, she'd leave him and return to hunting for the tapestry and classroom.
"It maybe nuts, but it's completely worth it, despite having disappeared for a long time." the thought made her features go dark, the only reason she left was because two had come, but now, she had returned despite having two professors who despised her just because of the 'trechery' her family imposed on the Seyrrou name.

Ariel was only listening enough to keep up with what Lafra was saying, though he soon found it was easier to just let himself concentrate on the conversation. "It is better than some other schools," he admitted. His eyes flicked around the corridor. In some ways the school was so strange, but then he remembered how he had been living at his old one, and he couldn't wish that he was back.
