"What do you mean? I'm guessing by your tone you've transferred from another school." once again they were winding down another corridor, it was endless, were they lost.
"Uhm... do you know where you're going?"she asked him, she didn't remember this corridor, she hadn't seen it before, or maybe she just hasn't been to this part of the castle.
"I've never been here before."she said passing a portrait of a little child seemingly sad.

No, Ariel thought sarcastically, I'm faking the accent. "I moved here from Australia in the fall," he said, then glanced around at her next question. "Yeah, it's quick through here." It hadn't taken him long to find the quickest, safest route from the Gryffindor common room to the outside of the school, the paths less traveled so he didn't have to worry about being caught by anyone.

Somehow, she wasn’t able to tell if he was a transferee, when it came to trying to figure out a persons origins she literally failed, mostly because after her parents were kicked out of the family line, she had travelled so much she had been so isolated, she couldn’t tell the difference between anyone. For the first 12 years of her life, other than being taught at school, she didn’t know much about anyone.
“I see.” She muttered, she was still thinking about her parents right now and the predicament they were in, the questions she had asked him were just to keep his mind off other things.
“Am I boring you?” the acidic tone was mostly because of her thoughts, she wasn’t sure what brought on the darker tone, but for some strange reason she wanted to vent out all her frustration right now.
“And you still didn’t answer, do you know where you’re going?” she paused for a moment looking around the corridor; either he was taking a completely different route than she used, or he was just going with a gut feeling.

Ariel blinked and stopped. "I believe I did answer that question," he said. In fact, he was positive he had answered that question. "Perhaps I'm the one boring you," he added, then rolled his eyes before he started walking again. Girl can't even listen to what I'm saying... he thought to himself. He took a turn down a short corridor to the left that lead to a flight of stairs. "Watch the seventh one," he warned absently as he started down.

She smirked; it seems he caught on to what she was saying. He seemed to be listening; at least he wasn’t ignoring her. Stepping to walk in front of him, she wanted to get the hell out of the school, our out of this part of the school she had never been to.
“Just checking.” she said, his warning about the seventh step came too late, as soon as he said it, her foot had sunk in. She tried to pull her self out, but it didn’t seem like enough, she wasn’t really strong enough. Looking up she glared, he could have at least said it sooner.
“It’s a little too late.” she muttered darkly to him, once again trying to pull free from the step, her back hurt having to bend over and pull her leg out, but she just wanted to get the hell out of this place.

"Well, you know, typically people walk behind the person that knows where they're going," Ariel said, more than a little annoyed. He went back up a few steps and stood on a couple up behind her. "Here, I'm going to pull." He slid his arms up under her armpits and around her to get ready to pull. He was too busy pushing away thoughts of another time he had helped someone out of a step to think of the propriety of where his arms were laying against the girl he had just met.

"Yes, well usually people walk faster than a bloody slugworm." she retorted, this guy was obviously the cold type, if he wanted to be that way then she would have to be the same.
When his arms slid around her, her body tensed up, uncomfortable with the feeling. A faint blush rose to her cheeks as she waited for him to pull her out.
"Take your time while your at it." she said coldly, trying to hide how she was feeling with her attitude and words.

"I never said you had to walk with me," Ariel shot back at her after her first response. Then he tightened his arms and ignored her second. "On three, one...two..." then he pulled up, stepping back another step as he did so to pull her onto the sixth. He didn't pull his arms away just yet, though, "You okay?" he asked. He wasn't about to just let her go and have her lose her balance and topple down the stairs.

"Don't flatter yourself I didn't do it for you." she snarled. She readied herself for the pull, but she didn't expect that it would take that much force to pull her out. Instinctively, as he pulled her out, her body turned and her hands found the front of his shirt, grasping at it. She found her head resting on his chest, eyes shut. She fully expected him to let go of her, but having him still hold onto her made her blush deepen.
"I... I'm... fine." she finally managed to say, pulling back from him, letting go of his shirt, she looked up at him and immediately took a step back, she was still standing on the sixth stair, but just a little further away from him.
"Thank you." she managed to say with out stuttering, although the blush didn't subside and it was getting painfully embarrassing at this point.

Ariel pulled his arms from around Lafra and shoved one hand deep into his pocket again. "Apparently that's what I'm here for," he said, though he had the common sense to avoid her eyes as though the whole thing did embarrass him. In reality he hadn't at all been too happy about having her body against his. His other hand took her arm. "Please don't fall," he said, and finally brought his eyes back up to hers. Well, they were at hers, but his hair hid his own from view. He didn't want to have to make a trip to the Hospital Wing.

Her blush lessened, but she was sure her cheeks would be slightly pink then red, so she risked looking up at him. His hand was now at her arm which was still a bit uncomfortable for her. Even the slightest touch from the opposite gender made her feel very awkward.
"What a shock, you actually have a nice side to you." her tone oozed with sarcasm, she was using it to hide the former embarrassment that was in her voice, she made a mental note to practice being articulate in awkward moments.

"I may not be the best, but even I'm not evil enough to leave someone in trouble like that," Ariel said, having an uncomfortable memory of when he had said that to another one of his rescuees so long ago. He pulled his hand from her arm and hopped down to the eighth step. "Now please, avoid the seventh step," he said before turning to finish going down the stairs.

His comment made her raise a brow, she wasn't expecting that, she expected a sarcastic comment, maybe he wasn't as bad as he seems.
"I'll try." she muttered only for herself to hear, skipping the seventh step this time she followed him, continuing her way, this time staying behind just in case there was another trick step or something.
Lafra watched him and realized that him mind was somewhere else, she didn't want to pry, but maybe he needed to talk about it, if he didn't she would probably just shut up for the rest of the way, she owed him that much.
"You seem a bit preoccupied, a knut for your thoughts?" her voice was small, she didn't want to be an annoyance anymore, she would 'play' for now.

Ariel shook his head, "Just an ex." He didn't want to think about that ex, either. Especially not with the weekend a couple of weeks before where impossible things had happened between them. I was half in love with you! He closed his eyes momentarily and he stopped on the bottom step of the last flight and then snapped them open to go out into the next corridor as though his pause had never happened.

"Is an 'I'm sorry' relevant in such a situation?" she didn't want to know about ex's, she was horrible with relationships, herself barely having any, the only ex she had was Zane, and he was a completly different case altogether.
She kept close to him following him out, now she knew that she had no choice but to stick to him, this whole half of the castle was basically new to her.
Lafra had then kept quiet, she too preferred silence over talking a lot, she didn't see a point to talk unless there was a reason to do so.
