Markise was very distracted today. He'd been thinking about his birthday mostly, about the international portkey his parents had saved up for to get him home this weekend. But every once in a while his thoughts slipped, and it was back to Dare. He'd just escorted Dare to his last class of the day, but he was free. And not paying attention to where he was going. He walked into someone with a thud.

Tori was walking with her head down, thinking about the recent events that had made her leave the school for longer than she had planned. She felt someone bump into her, she looked up as fell down, yelling, "Yelp!! Ah, damn it, well that's just great!" She yelled this as she noticed that her legs were entertwined within each other.

Markise gave a loud squeak of surprise as he found himself toppling onto his butt, his legs a tangle against whoever it was he'd just walked into. He was stunned for just a moment, but as soon as he realized what had just happened, he looked over at the girl apologetically. "Sorry," he said, giving her a sheepish smile. "I guess I was distracted."

She gave a small smile as she said, "It's fine, I've quite distracted a lot, lately." She said this trying move her back against the wall, but not quite making it there. "The name's Tori, Tori Dunlevy, you are?" She asked with curious and pain filled eyes.

"Are you okay?" Markise asked, concerned even if he'd fallen too. He knew that he was fine, but she looked like she might have been hurt. It took him a second to register that she'd just introduced herself. "Oh! Tori, um, nice to meet you. I'm Markise. Markise Sterling. Are you okay?" He'd feel terrible if he'd hurt her.

"Nice to meet you, Markise, um, no, not really." She said this with tears in her eyes. She felt fire racing up and down her legs.

Markise's brows knitted, and he scooted over next to her. "What's wrong? How can I help?" he asked. He hoped she wasn't hurt too badly. He only knew basic first aid. And he only thought he knew where the hospital wing was, having never needed it himself.

"My legs are stuck." She said this blushing, while tears were falling down her face.

"Oh," Markise breathed. He glanced around to make sure they hadn't drawn a crowd, then actually looked at her legs, wondering how she'd gotten them that twisted. "Um, okay, I'm going to try to help you." Markise set his book bag on the floor, then started trying to help Tori et untangled.

"Um, can you find me, my backpack? My medicine is in it, I was on my way to give it the nurse, when I ran into you." She said this looking around her for her backpack, but not seeing it. She felt stupid when she realized that her backpack was no where in sight and yet she could see her brothers and sisters and daughter running towards her. "Rachel, no, Rachel!" She said as she saw her running to jump on her.

Markise had turned to look for Tori's backpack when he saw a small group of people hurrying down the corridor, someone far too young to be a student running ahead. And looking as though she was about to jump on Tori, who was still on the floor. Markise reflexively caught the little girl, but she knocked him off-balance again and he found himself on his butt again.

"She does that a lot." She said this laughing just slightly. "Well, at least I gave you a little warning." She said this now trying to hide her laughter.

Markise blinked up at the little girl in confusion. "Aren't you too young for Hogwarts?" he asked, then turned his attention back to Tori. He was about to comment on the fact that she obviously knew the little girl--had she called her Rachel?--when it struck him how much alike they looked. "Is she your sister?" he asked instead. It didn't occur to him that Tori was any older than seventeen.

"Yes, she is." She said this covering for Rachel. "She's also my little sister, yes." She said this trying to clear up most of the confusion. "Um, backpack?" She asked reminding him.

Markise nodded, then turned back to looking for Tori's backpack, finally finding it not far from his own. He set it down next to her so she could get to it easily. "Do you want some help up?" he asked. He hadn't even noticed her leg brace until he'd moved to help her untangle herself. He was a consummate Hufflepuff, though; he tended toward excessive concern for the welfare of others.
