As soon as the girl let go of Dare, he took a few uncomfortable steps back from her, shaking his head. This could not be happening, and especially not in front of Michael. "What in hell was that?!" he asked the girl, then looked back at Michael, his darkening eye hardly obscured by hair and very visible. "I swear like ten minutes ago she hit me!" he exclaimed. He didn't understand any of this! He felt like he'd stumbled into a bad dream.

"Yes, I did. But I thought we were past that" she took a few steps closer, "You said it yourself" then she looked over at the other boy, to whom the boy she kissed was explaining all this to. She didn't understand.

Michael's eyebrows both raised up at the mark showing on Dare's eye and his legs unfroze for him to take a couple of tentative steps toward Dare. "She hit you?" Michael asked, tilting his head, "And then she kissed you?" It didn't make sense, why would someone do that? People didn't usually just go off and kiss the person they had just hit.

"I know!" Dare exclaimed. "I don't even know who she is! And we weren't past that, I was trying to be polite!" he said to the girl. He'd just wanted it to end so he could leave, and out of nowhere she'd stopped being confrontational and kissed him! Not that he'd never been ambushed by a kiss before, but never from someone who'd just hit him!

Johnny looked from one to the other, starting to feel a little hurt. Kissing someone is really opening yourself up to that person, at least it was the way she did it. And it was turning out to be the second time she was being rejected. People were so unbelievably fickle! "Sorry" she mumbled, and hurried for the library door.

Had Dare not had prior warning, or had the girl just randomly kissed him? Michael was still confused, but the sense of fear had gone away, leaving only a ghost of hurt. He watched the girl for a few seconds, then realized she was leaving, "Why did you kiss him?" he asked, though it was more of a demand then an actual question. "Why did you hit him?"

Johnny turned around, feeling spiteful cause she was just hurt "He kissed me first. After he yelled and cursed at me, mind you. Which is why I punched him" She turned her back on him and smiled.

Michael glanced at Dare and then stared at the girl, shaking his head. That wasn't Dare, Michael couldn't see Dare doing that, he had never even gotten the impression that Dare could do something like that. "Dare wouldn't do that," he said, glancing at Dare. His voice probably didn't sound as strong as he wanted it to, but he could still feel the residual from that first shock.

Dare shook his head, his good eye wide and both hands up as though to say, I have no clue. Yes, he had yelled, they both had, and yes, he had cursed, but he'd never made a habit of cursing, but he most definitely had not kissed her. Not first, and not at all. She'd kissed him, and the moment he'd gotten over the shock, he'd put a stop to it.

She waited for the explosion to come, walking very slowly toward the library door, making sure she could hear everything that was said. But everything was quiet from behind her. She turned around when she reached the door, and saw them both standing there, speechless, with shocked looks on their faces.
"Don't worry about it," she finally caught on why the two boys were so upset at the kiss. "He's not my type anyway"

Michael's eyes narrowed and he took another couple of steps. "You had no right!" he said, staring at the girl. She had had no right to hit Dare, and she had certainly had no right to kiss Dare. She had to have lied, too, because Michael knew Dare wouldn't do those things. And she thought she could just leave like that?

Dare stepped forward and raised one hand, bringing it to rest against Michael's shoulder. "Let her go," he murmured, as though he stood a chance of actually getting through once Michael lost his temper. Yes, she'd assaulted him in more ways than one, but he couldn't see how yelling at the girl would do any good. He had a feeling she wouldn't apologize and nothing Michael could do would make her change her behavior.

"You two are unbelievable. I had no right? He had no right. I was merely trying to help, and he insulted me, so I stand up for myself and i had no right. Good of you to come here, when you have no idea what just happened and pass judgment!" She pushed open the door and disappeared into the library. Hoping to never see either of them again.
True, it was wrong of her to say what she did, or maybe even to kiss him like that. But that first past made sense!...the rest she wasn't quite sure how it happened.

Michael went to go after her, but stopped when the door swung closed. He clenched his jaw and stared at the door for long seconds before turning to Dare. He met Dare's eyes, feeling more vulnerable than he should have when he was angry, but he also knew how well Dare could read him. "What happened?" he asked, searching Dare's eyes.

Dare shook his head, completely nonplussed at the entire affair. "I don't know!" he said honestly. Dare's hand slid down Michael's arm to thread their fingers together, needing the contact as he tried to think back. "I was looking for something in my bag and ended up dumping half of it on the ground. She crushed my calming draught, and she said she was sorry, offered to buy another one, but I didn't want to deal with her so I told her it was fine. She went one way, I went another, and I said something that offended her. But I didn't think she was listening! So she punched me, and I swore, and she told me to apologize, I told her no, she started on about how if I didn't she was going to hurt me again, I still said no, I asked her if she'd take a draw, she said okay, and then she just... kissed me!" Dare was half breathless by the end.
