Dare wasn't in the library. He'd just come out, and now he was standing almost against the wall beside the door, one long leg bent a bit to prop up his book bag while he dug through it. He was wearing his usual skinny jeans and fitted concert tee, his usual canvas shoes and chunky studded belt, but his eyes kept jumping back to the ring on his left hand, a silver band with copper leaves embedded into it. The curve of his lips was only partly visible from behind his fringe, and it remained as he dragged his gaze away. Christmas had been amazing.

Johnny walked down the corridor with her hands in her pockets, playing with a lighter that was in one of them and feeling self conscious.
She got out of her dormitory with the intention of exploring the castle, but after coming across more then a few of her new fellow class mates on her way, her mind went wandering to other things; like how odd it felt being the new kid. She was never the new kid, cause when she started her old school, she came along with a whole batch of newbies.
She kept glancing at the unfamiliar faces as she kept moving from floor to floor aimlessly.
But when she came upon the library, she got some of her old confidence back. She loved libraries. She pulled her hands out of her pockets and went to push the door.

Dare hadn't even noticed the girl, though if he had, he wouldn't have introduced himself. His thoughts were elsewhere and he was deeply absorbed in them, so much so that he realized he'd forgotten what he was digging into his bag after.
He figured that if he kept digging he'd come across it and remember though, so he grabbed one of the bottom corners of the bag and tipped it up, hoping to shift the contents a bit. It worked, to a point. The contents shifted, but the heavy book he'd just gotten from the library overbalanced it, and things went spilling to the floor, quills, colored pencils, two sketchbooks, and various other things Dare had forgotten were in there. He swore under his breath and knelt to start gathering everything back up, not even noticing the near-empty potion vials that rolled clear in front of the door beside him.

Johnny pulled open the door, giving a quick glance to the boy that was standing only a few feet from her, and who seemed to have accidentally spilled the contents of his bag all over the floor. She returned her gaze to the library entrance, making her first step when she heard, and felt something crush beneath her shoe. She looked down and saw broken glass and liquid where her foot was just a sec ago. "oh, no" she bend down to look closer at the mess, knowing it came from the boys bag, and hoping it was nothing important. "erm, Hi" she said, standing up and waving her hand, trying to get this boys attention "I accidentally stepped on one of your potion bottles. I'm so sorry"

Dare had shoved the last of his belongings into his bag before the girl's voice caught his attention. At least he'd thought it was the last, before she'd announced otherwise. Dare pushed to his feet, nearly 6'2" of him tensing as he scanned the ground, finally spotting his sleeping potion and the remains of his calming draught. He swore again, then tossed a muttered apology for it back at the girl as he bent to pick up the potion that had survived.
"It's fine," Dare said, his voice a bit sharper than he'd meant it to be. He hadn't been without either of the potions in a month, but he told himself firmly that if one of them had to go, it was at least the one he hadn't needed lately.

"I could replace it, if you like" she said, holding her arm for support "What was it?" Having ruined something that belonged to someone else, and knowing he was upset about it by the tone of his voice, in some strange way made her feel more confident. It was a territory she was familiar with.

"I'll deal with it," Dare said, closing the flap of his book bag. There were only two people besides him who knew about the calming draught, and he wasn't about to start spreading it around to strangers. He'd just go by Grey's potion shop sometime after school. He'd stock up on his sleeping potion too, while he was there.

"As you wish" She reached out to grab the door, which swung back into its frame by now, and turned the knob. She wanted to get inside quickly, and away from him before he changed his mind and demanded money or something. "see you then"

Dare only watched the girl until she'd opened the door. As you wish. It was something Silver liked to say, something he'd picked up from a Muggle movie. And easy to ignore. Dare turned to walk away then, only pausing a moment at her parting words. He rolled his eyes, hitched his bag up a bit, then set himself to leaving, muttering a rather colorful epithet toward the girl on his way.

Johnny let go of the door knob and turned to face the boy's back "what did you say?" lovely "Look, I offered to pay for whatever it was, you said you didn't want to. Okay, so if you could just keep your comments to yourself..." she blew at a loose strand of hair in frustration.

Dare rolled his eyes again a moment before he deigned to turn around and face the girl. "What I said was--" Dare repeated the epithet loud enough for the girl to hear properly. "And for someone so apologetic, you..." Dare stopped himself from going on and took a deep breath. "You know what, it doesn't matter. You might want to watch where you're walking in the future, though."

"I was just trying to be polite, I guess i shouldn't have bothered" She took a few steps closer to him, "And you, should really watch what you put your face into" she clenched her fist and gave him a punch in the eye.

If Dare had been expecting that at all he'd have blocked it. But she was more than half a foot shorter than him, and a girl had never swung a punch at him before in his life. As it was, her fist made contact with his right eye, and though he rationally knew it would have been far worse if she'd been five inches taller, that didn't do a thing to soothe the pain.
Dare took half a step backward, glaring at the girl in unadulterated shock with his left eye from behind his fringe."What the f~!" he exclaimed. "Are you f~ing insane?!" And yet, what was he going to do about it? She was far smaller than him and a girl.

Johnny shrugged, pleased with herself. Now this was the way to start a new school! not skulking around feeling insecure "Come on, wanna do something about it? or are you just gonna keep insulting me" she did the hands gesture you do when you're inviting someone for a fight.

Dare's eyes--eye--widened, and his brows knitted. Was this really happening? He glanced around the corridor, but it was the same as it always was, except for the pack of dynamite in front of him. He held up both hands in a gesture of supplication. "I don't want to fight, I'm sorry, okay?" He'd been moody over the potion breaking, and apparently he needed to be more careful what he said when he was pissed.
