It was harder than he remembered to ignore those...things pressing against his chest, considering he had gotten so used to kissing Markise and the guys at the club. But it came back easily, and Ariel was able to return her kiss, keeping his occupied hand away from both of them enough to count. His mind was already pointing out that it would be a good way to get out of it should he need to.

Johnny frowned slightly as it seemed to her that she wasn't getting as much lip action from Logan as you would expect from a hormonal boy who just got kissed without having to work for it. She gave him one last peck on the lips and backed away.

Ariel looked at her for a moment, then turned away and brought the cig to his lips. "I have a lot on my mind," he said for his excuse, "Try me again later." At least part of that was true, he did have quite a bit on his mind, though that wasn't anywhere near the reason the kiss was less than perfect. If he had had more time to prepare for it, he could have put on a better show.

"Okay" Johnny shrugged. But she doubted she would try him again. His reaction felt a lot more like rejection then distraction, and Johnny wasn't the sort to impose herself on others. At least not when she only just met the person.
She went back to standing by his side, looking out at the frozen lake. "um," She wanted to say something to get a normal conversation started. She hated being rejected and wanted to be under the cover of friendliness so he wouldn't think it bothered her in the slightest. no big deal "What year are you in?"

"Sixth," Ariel said, "Gryffindor." He didn't quite understand how he had gotten into the Gryffindors, but he supposed it wasn't too bad. He glanced over at Johnny, wondering what she thought of him, considering he was so very out of practice when it came to that kind of thing. As far as he could tell, she hadn't figured it out, though, so he thought he was safe. "You?"

'Me too," she smiled, starting to shiver again "But don't know my house yet. We didn't have these houses back in my old school" She wasn't sure how she felt about being in one house and not another. They all felt pretty much the same to her, and she didn't know what it would mean to be in one of them. It was all completely new to her. "Is it nice being a Gryffindor?"

Ariel shrugged, "It's okay, but I don't know many from the other houses to compare. My old school had...." he trailed off, trying to figure out how it would be defined. "They were like houses, but we didn't call them that, we just knew where we went to sleep every night." He didn't really remember much about the decision on where they would sleep, either.

"Oh!" she was for a moment distracted for real, "I thought this was like your...first, and only school" he was a transfer student too! "how come you left your old school? was it your smoking?"

Oh yes, he was a Brit with an Australian accent. "No, it wasn't the smoking," he said, sighing and taking one of the last drags of his cig. He glanced over at her and then glared out over the frozen lake. He didn't want to think about why he had left that place, not when he hadn't given it much serious thought for a month.

Johnny looked over as he sighed, and met his eyes. It wasn't the smoking, but from his expression she could tell it was something else, and it was something he didn't want to talk about. "Okay," She looked away, wondering if she should tell him her story, and see if maybe it'll make him open up and tell his. But as soon as that thought popped up, she pushed it away. She didn't feel like talking about it.

Ariel finished off the cig and tossed it to the ground, habitually snuffing it out with his shoe. Then he shoved his hands in his pockets and debated having another. "My brother, Maverick, got a job in London running a tattoo shop," he said once he fought back the thoughts of the reason he had been glad to leave his old school.

oh, now that can't be right." she turned her back to the lake, getting a bit sick of watching it "why would you move, if it's your brother that got the job. What about your parents?"

"Mum left when I was three, dad soon as Maverick was of age," Ariel said, eyes flat, he had been nine. It had long before stopped bothering him. He shrugged, other than the cold it was better at Hogwarts. Even with the whole deal with Markise. He would rather go through the Markise fiasco all over again than go back for the rest of his school life and deal with the whole school taunting him.

"oh, so i guess you don't really know your mom. I don't know mine either. I've never even met her. She was more of a Surrogate though, and i bet if i tried finding her right now she wouldn't care to meet me" Johnny was happy with her two dads, but she wished she had them both and a mom too, she always wondered what it would feel like having one.

She was more of a surrogate. Ariel raised an eyebrow and looked over at Johnny, but didn't say anything. It did set his mind reeling with thoughts. What was it with England? "No reason to miss her, if she left so early she wasn't worth knowing," he said, shrugging again. Besides, the woman had been the one to give him the name Ariel, he couldn't imagine his parents having done a better job than Maverick, though at least his dad had stayed long enough to make sure they would be taken care of.
