The guys went quiet. Ariel stopped talking and clenched his jaw tight enough to hurt. He set his fork down and ran a hand through his soggy hair. He licked his lips and then stared up at Holly. One of the guys seemed to get the idea of what was going to happen, because he grinned and nudged the guy beside him. Ariel grabbed his wand, then pushed himself up and headed toward the girl.

"Ready to talk yet?" Holly stood by her table Gryffindors watching as he stormed angrily over to her. "Go ahead! Hex me in front of everyone! I am sure the staff would love a show," she winked. Her hand was on her wand, in case she needed to use the disarming spell. She was lucky that her special talents lay in charms and such. Although, she was not particularly good at hexing, her father had taught her well.

Ariel glared. Do you really think that I care if they see? No, he couldn't say that. He did care, he couldn't afford to have a detention, to have his brother know that he had been in trouble. When he spoke, his voice was overly controlled, nearly shaking. "Now why," he started, "Would you do something like that?" he asked through gritted teeth, gripping his wand tightly.

"To get you to listen," Holly replied simply. "All I wanted to do was apologize and look what happened. You've got pumpkin juice all over your hair and I am unsatisfied." Holly had a good feeling he was not going to attack. Not with so many witnesses...

Ariel tilted his head, his slowly dripping hair laying away from his face. "Well I can't do anything about you being unsatisfied, maybe that crazy guy can help you there," he said, eyes flickering down to her wand. "Do you really think you could beat me?" he asked when he raised his eyes back up to hers. No, he didn't plan on fighting. At least not out in the open. It would be so easy to get her out, though.

Markise had been watching since the collective gasp from the Gryffindor table. He was sure his heart stopped when he'd realized what had happened. He'd had several moments of serious debate as he watched Ariel go after the girl. On one hand, he was a little pissed at Ariel, but on the other...
Markise huffed as he made his way toward the center of attention in the room. He didn't bother pulling his own wand. He knew it wouldn't do a bit of good against Ariel.

"How about you listened to what I had to say? That was all I asked and you denied it. Going around with a stick up your ass is not going to get you far huh? I wonder how many other people have been waiting to say the same thing." Holly's eyes flashed dangerously, excited that she was finally speaking her mind. Enough of bottled up emotions, it was time to explode.

Ariel's eyes didn't flash, but seemed somehow hollow, animalistic. "I didn't want your apology, I wouldn't have accepted had I listened. I was saving both of us the trouble," he said, his hand tightening on his wand. "And having a wonderful conversation with my mates about the Holyhead Harpies," he added, not yet aware of Markise's approach.

Markise only caught bits of the conversation--if it could be called that--as he neared. The silence was filled with sharp whispers that had been inaudible only moments before. What was he going to do? Markise wasn't brave as a Gryffindor, and he didn't want to talk to Ariel, but he'd seen Ariel angry before, and he abandoned thoughts of anything but turning his hurt on others. Markise was on the girl's side in this one.
He stopped at the edge of the scene, folding his arms across his chest. The look in Ariel's eyes was enough to turn any sane person away, but Markise didn't back down. He didn't say anything, either. He didn't feel like having this all turned on him, but if he could think of some way to help, he would in a heartbeat.

Holly's grip on her wand tightened as she scanned her eyes across the room. A very femine male was standing a ways from the two of them watching the conversation. She had never seen him before, but from the way he was watching the Gryffindor, he must have known him. "It does not matter whether someone accepts an apology or not, it is simply listening and understanding. That is part of what makes someone a true Gryffindor, something you are obviously not." Holly's limbs and body began to quiver with excitement. She was not worried about whether or not he would attack. He was not unintelligent enough to do something to get him expelled.

Ariel's eyes flickered over to the familiar face underneath the blond hair that was Markise. He hadn't seen Markise since the weekend they had gone to the club. His eyes stayed on him for a few seconds, wondering where he had been. Ariel certainly hadn't been hiding from him. He only pulled his eyes away when Holly spoke. "No, that's a Hufflepuff thing, Gryffindors are just supposed to be brave," he said, "I don't remember anything about listening being used to describe Gryffindors."

Markise just shook his head now. He should have stayed at his table, this was ridiculous. Yes, he could understand the girl attempting to give someone an apology, but he knew how likely that would ever be with Ariel. He didn't bother looking at the guy again, but turned toward the doors, pausing on his way past the girl. "Talking to him is like beating your head against a brick wall. You'd be better off forgetting it." With that, he headed for the doors and the corridor beyond.

Holly cocked her head to the side, as the blonde male headed to the doors nearest her. He had a point. "Alright! You win. I obviously can not possibly prevail against such a brave and wonderful Gryffindor. Please give me mercy oh kind one," Holly drawled completely sarcastic. The blonde was right. This boy was willing to initiate a fight in front of the entire school. He was completely mad. Yet, she had provoked him as well.

Ariel glared after Markise before turning the glare on Holly when she spoke. Then he rolled his eyes. Did she think she was going to guilt him into saying something or something like that? He shook his head and started to walk toward the door and Markise. He didn't want to deal with the girl any more than he wanted her to think she had won, but he knew that he had a chance to actually find Markise if he left right then.

Markise had written off everything happening behind him, and he wasn't even listening anymore. He didn't expect either of them to follow him; he was already convinced that the argument would go on until they both needed to go to class. He fully intended to go back to his dorm and bundle up to head outside. Then he wouldn't have to deal with a pissy Ariel in case he felt like picking a fight over his nearly-nonexistent interference.
