"Um, okay. May I ask why you are counting them?" Holly ran her eyes across the stone floor a little overwhelmed by how many there were. How could he focus on a task so tedious? He must have some type of disorder... she thought.

"That's a question I don't really know how to answer. I just... do." He stuttered. Kenneth started to count the next square metre. After a while, however, he noticed that each square metre, in descending order from the north end of the corridor to the south end, had one less stone per square metre.
"How strange..." Kenneth said.

Holly sighed and sat down next to him watching his eyes count the stones. How tedious! Holly would never have the patience to count so much. Of course, if it was a homework assignment she could do it. Schoolwork was all easy, except when it came to actually using the spells...

Having contented himself with all there was to floor stones, he moved onto the ceiling. It turns out that there was the same amount of tiles in the ceiling as there were stones in the floor. He stood up, and accidentally bumped into the girl. He didn't know what to say, so he said all he could say: "Sorry..."

"It's okay... What is your name?" Holly asked curiously. She brushed herself off and regained her footing, head cocked to the side. She pulled her robes around her and waited for his reply.

"Ummm... Kenneth." He turned around. Kenneth did not want to talk anymore. His patterns soothed him, and he was nervous at this time. Where was I?

"Are you okay? You seem kind of nervous..." Holly frowned as he turned his back to her. What was his problem? Rolling her eyes she tapped him on the shoulder.

Kenneth winced at the touch of another human being, but then tried to cover it up. "Ermm... just... uhh... no." He said, although it was an obvious lie. "I just have... stuff to do. I hope I am not bothering you." Kenneth perked his ear up, because he heard something, although it was probably just his mind.

"The only way you are bothering me is by avoiding me," she groaned rolling her eyes. Pushing back her hair, she skipped around so she could face him. If he did not act like a ten year old he could actually be cute.

"Oh. Sorry. How can I help you?" Perfectly mimicing the tone of the people who work at the Muggle Hotlels. He had finished his counting, so he was finally ready to be disturbed.

"You can help me by talking. What house are you in?" Holly was genuinely interested in this boy. Some type of weirdness radiated off of him and she wanted to figure out what it was. She made eye contact with him and realized his eyes were a muddy brown.

"I'm in Hufflepuff... What about you?" Kenneth asked back to the girl, whose name he still did not know. She was just another distraction....

"Ravenclaw. I have never seen you before, when did you get here?" Holly did not like the way Kenneth was eying her. He seemed to be looking at her with distaste, or as if she was dirty. At least that was what she felt...

Kenneth continued is constant snapping of his fingers, oblivious to what he was doing. He dropped his eye contact immediately - he had been looking into the alien's eyes for too long. He couldn't do it any more. So he dropped his eyes to the floor, and ignored her comment, and instead said, "Your laces are tied symmetrically. I like that." And, without asking permission, Kenneth kneeled down and started playing with her laces in her shoes.

Holly stepped back startled by his sudden proximity. "W-what are you doing?" she asked. He was playing with her shoe ties! "Wait..." She remembered one time in Diagon Alley with her father she had seen a peculiar figure. He was partly deformed but otherwise semi-functional. He had done things the exact same way Kenneth had. That boy, in the market, had had autism and some other disorders. Was Kenneth...?
