Ariel was deep inside the castle. Ariel was almost in the center of the castle. Ariel was surrounded by lit torches. Ariel was wrapped up in a cloak. And Ariel was still cold. He tucked his arms close to his body and glared down at the floor in front of him, grumbling whenever he felt an imagined gust of wind. He didn't understand how he could still be cold from that one crossing of the courtyard.

Holly scuttered down the hall, face flushed and angry. So far, two people knew of her arranged marriage. Maybe she was overreacting, but was a life long commitment to an utter stranger something to glad about? Holly pushed back tears, fighting the urge to break down and cry. Her father had sent her an owl, and she would soon be meeting her "fiancee". She needed to calm down. Taking a deep breath, she noticed that there was a man in the room.

Ariel looked around when he heard someone else approaching, then stopped in his tracks to bitterly watch the girl running wildly down the hall. He raised an eyebrow and rolled his eyes before looking back down at the floor and continuing his walk. Why should he care about what happened to the girl to make her near hysterical?

Holly stopped. The guy was practically glaring at her. "Why are you glaring at me?" She walked a little closer to the stranger and looked him up and down. She heard a knight change position, the clink of the metal. The man seemed upset just like her. Once again, her knowledge of body language and facial expressions came to use again.

"Why would I be glaring at at a whinging pom like you?" Ariel asked, rolling his eyes again and walking on past her, not realizing he had slipped into some of his Australian slang. He barely spared another glance for her as he tugged the cloak farther around himself and headed toward the Great Hall, he wasn't in the mood, nor did he have the time, to deal with her.

Holly chuckled silently to herself. "Related to Steve Irwin I guess," she laughed remembering the old muggle show she had watched with her best friend all those years ago. The Crocodile Hunter was it? As soon as she had said it, she had regretted it. He was much older in experience and age than her and it would be best not to make enemies. Holly turned away, hoping she had not made him angry.

Ariel stopped in his tracks again at that. He was pureblood, had always hung around wizards, but there wasn't a person in Australia that didn't know that name. "Oh, so all Aussies are related to Irwin?" he asked, light brown eyes darkening under angry, straight brows. Not that the pool had been very large down there, but everyone wasn't related.

"No... Not everyone is, but it simply reminded me of him. I do not want to fight, but if you insist, we may find ourselves in quite a predicament." Holly grinned, the last few syllables rising up and down in a sort of song. She knew the man was getting irritated and it was not like her to pick a fight. She was a quiet, Ravenclaw, who normally minded her own business. But today could call for other means... Chaos leads to more chaos...

Ariel sighed and settled in, it didn't seem like he was going to be getting away from the little girl any time soon. "Oh really, and what is a little girl like you going to do?" he asked, crossing his arms and spreading his legs slightly. He wasn't in the mood, but if he didn't have any choice, he would make the best out of it. He had a feeling that he could really have some fun if he tried.

"Do? Absolutely nothing. I am giving you the choice whether or not to initiate a duel. I would really prefer not too... Slytherins deserve it more." Holly shrugged, yawned, at leaned against a wall, still on guard. If he was to hex her then she would be prepared.

"Why the hell would I want to duel with a girl that's obviously at least three years younger than me?" Ariel asked, shaking his head and looking off down the corridor. If that was what she wanted, she would have to go find someone else. So far he hadn't been in a duel, and he didn't care to start with some annoying little girl he met crying in a hallway. Of course, she wasn't crying then. Maybe she was bipolar or something. Ariel tilted his head at her and let his mind run wild with that possibility.

"Looks can be deceiving. But oh well Mr. Grumpy, I am leaving." Holly walked down the hall away from the strange guy. Wow, it can be fun to act your age once in a while, she thought to herself. Now back to responsibility...

Mr. Grumpy? Had she really just called him Mr. Grumpy? Where had she learned to sling insults at, daycare? "Mr. Grumpy? Are you serious?" he called after her. "Really, I've heard better insults from first years!" And that wasn't an exaggeration, either. He would even call it pathetic.

"I was not insulting you! That's your new nickname for whenever I see you," she called over her shoulder, throwing him a childish grin. She slowed down her pace so she could hear his reaction. Tormenting people was so fun!

"If you think this is grumpy," Ariel said, glaring, "You'll be terrified to see me pissed." His eyes darkened. Who did the girl think she was? She was crazy, that's what she was, crying one minute and slinging bad insults...names the next. Generally moods don't change for the better that quickly. It made him wary of her in a stay-away-from-me-little-girl kind of way.
