"That's good. That means my teaching was effective." Deimos shrugged with a grin. Of course, he would like it if he was able to continue to meet up with her and lessons were always such a good excuse....
"Okay, how about we try the summoning charm, then?" He pointed at his trusty jacket yet again and murmured, "Accio jacket!"
The jacked zoomed to him and slid onto his arm, across his shoulders, and down the other arm so that he had it on again. He smirked at her.

Brindle laughed, both at Dei's playfulness and the fact that she knew she wouldn't be getting all that on her own. There was quite a difference between summoning a jacket and summoning it so that it put itself on.
"If I admit I have no clue how you did that, will you show me?" she asked. And to think that only a couple minutes ago she'd thought she could finish her catching up on her own. Apparently not, she told herself.

"Perhaps. But it would have to be staged over time. That takes a lot of practice." Dei smirked. "After all, the whole getting it onto me is just a way to show off. I'm sure you can get the actual spell itself."
He hoped that she would want to keep meeting with him.... She was something of an enigma to him. And he rather liked enigmas.

Even if Brindle was sticking with her decision to try practicing on her own, she fully intended to keep up with Deimos. Even if she had decided she didn't need his tutoring in Charms anymore, which she saw now that she did, she'd have found some way to keep in contact with him. Her DADA was still suffering, after all.
It seemed like it wasn't going to come to that any time soon, though. Inwardly, Brindle smiled. Now that she had an idea of how to alter what she knew to actually get results, she'd be practicing as much as she could, maybe surprise him during their next lesson. Brindle wasn't one for playing the weak, needy little girl, even if Deimos was far too good-looking.
"It looks like I've got a lot of work to do," Brindle said. "It's a good think I'm a hard worker." Dammit, why did it sound like she was flirting when she said that? Brindle refused to acknowledge any heat stealing into her cheeks.

"Yes, it's a good thing, indeed." Deimos smirked. "So what are you going to do now?"
Eirene was probably being impatient....
Wait.
What was he supposed to do with her again? Brindle must have been making more of an impact on him than he thought.

Brindle gave a casual shrug of her shoulders. He could have been asking what she was going to do about Charms, but the look on his face told her that Deimos had just remembered something, and it didn't take Brin too long to remember that he was supposed to be meeting his sister. Or, rather, that Rene was supposed to be finding them.
"You're sure your sister will find us?" she asked, then gave herself a mental kick. They were in the entrance hall; if there was an easier place to find someone, she certainly hadn't found it. Still, she told herself it was worth asking. She didn't want to get on Dei's sister's bad side, especially considering how close they were.

"Yeah, of course. We have this weird thing where we can find each other if we need to." Dei shrugged. "It's come in handy. Especially that time where I fell and twisted my ankle really bad when I was running in the woods."
He didn't bother to mention that he was running from a rather mad dog and had fallen into a ditch where the dog couldn't get at him. Some days he seriously thought that he shouldn't have tried to take one of the puppies home for Eirene. But she had wanted one so badly!
Either way, it had been quite the adventure and the two of them learned that they could feel each other's hurts and locate the other if they wanted to.

Brindle's brows drew together a bit at the thought. "That does sound handy," she mused. If only all siblings had that power. Not that Brindle could have done much for Markise that day since she hadn't started her martial arts training yet, but even to have been able to see who had attacked him would have been better than what had happened.
Brindle pushed those thoughts back for now. There was no changing the past, only preparing for the future. It was why she'd insisted on learning Muggle self-defense, even if her father did think it was a quirky little hobby.
"Do you know any jinxes or hexes?" she asked at last. "Not that I expect to need them, but I don't know a single one." It was ironic, really. She was a witch who could only really defend herself using Muggle means.

Deimos pondered a moment, then nodded, "Yeah, here's one."
He performed the bat bogey charm and sent it to attack the defenseless coat rack in the corner. "You like that one?"

Brindle's eyes widened, then she burst into laughter at the strange and admittedly disgusting sight. "Ew, I don't even want to think about how uncomfortable that'd be!" she said, grinning despite herself.
She turned back to Deimos after a moment, looking up at him with sparkling eyes. "Show me again," she said, her voice lifting just a bit at the end in question. "I've never seen that one before." Brindle raised her wand again in preparation.

Deimos, for the umpteenth time, had to tell himself to stop looking at those pretty eyes. With a sideways grin, he laughed and said, "Sure."
He performed it again for her, but slower. He watched the coat rack as it was subjected to the hex and winced. "You have a point. It does look very uncomfortable."

Brindle had watched Dei carefully, focusing on the way the wand moved, how he held it, and his posture as he-- Dammit! She focused on the spell then, raising her own wand to duplicate the motions at their inanimate victim. Her bogeys were neither as large nor as impressive as Dei's, but she was pleased.
"Not bad for a first try," she said, tipping her chin up as though she'd expected as much. Her eyes were laughing, though. She was more than a little proud of herself, but every time she glanced back at that poor coat rack, it was all she could do not to laugh out loud again.
"Do they go away on their own?" she asked, gesturing toward the bat-bogeys. "Or is there a spell to get rid of them?"

"They go away... eventully." Dei's eyes had a gleam of mischief in them as he added, "Now, my pupil, if I should hear of you performing any of these spells on a poor person...."
He gave her what was meant to be a playful menacing look, "I shall have to discipline you properly."
He didn't dare let his mind think what he wanted it to think.

"Oooh," Brindle said, her eyes widening innocently. "I'm terrified." She wasn't at all terrified, actually. She knew how easily Deimos could smite her in a wizarding duel, but she also knew that he wouldn't. Still, she could play along, right?
"What if I perform the spells on a rich person?" she asked, tilting her head to the side.

Deimos grinned at her first comment, then gave her an appreciative look. "Touche."
He paused and added, "Let me get back to you on that one."
And stop giving him those eyes! He wanted to just stare at them for the longest time.
