Markise nodded, unable to argue with that. Winter was long enough for those that were used to being stuck inside for days or weeks at a time. Spring wasn't just a time of melting snow, it was a relief from the insanity of a months-long gray-and-white world. "We'll have to find you a hobby," Markise suggested, resisting the urge to suggest himself yet again. They both knew. But Ariel needed something that would keep him in shape, preserve those sleek muscles that Markise's fingers were trailing over.

"I can't believe that a school this big has nothing," Ariel grumbled, flicking a glance over his shoulder at the castle. As far as he was aware, there was no pool, no gym, no track. There was nothing to use during the winter to keep in shape, and he was simply amazed at that fact. "I mean, they know people are going to be stuck inside, so why not have at least a gym?"

"I know," Markise said, as baffled as Ariel was. He thought about it a moment, his brows narrowed as he leaned into Ariel, fingers and gloved palms moving slowly against Ariel's lower back. "Well, the place is so big, maybe they do have one," he suggested, looking up at Ariel. "I mean, I've never heard anyone talk about it, but it could still be there, right?" Markise almost suggested dancing, but even if he thought Ariel would go to the club with him, there was still the walk.

Ariel chewed his tongue as he thought, then nodded, "Maybe we should start asking around." It seemed so ridiculous that there wouldn't be anything, but then, everyone he had met didn't seem nearly as concerned with it as the people he had grown up with were. Maybe the schedule was so intense around that time that they just hadn't thought about it?

Markise nodded. "I think so," he agreed. He knew a couple people who had been at Hogwarts at least 5 years, so he'd ask them first. If there was anything to do inside besides the obvious, he wanted to know. "If nothing else, we can go to that classroom and I'll teach you my Pilates routine," Markise offered. Markise couldn't see Ariel being very interested in that, not when he was so stuck in his ways otherwise. Besides, most people didn't even know that Pilates had men's exercises.

"Pilates?" Ariel didn't know about that. He knew that he could make up a routine to do inside should he have no other option, and pilates really wasn't part of the equation. He mentally started sorting through things he could do. It wouldn't be the same as going swimming or running, but at least it would be something.

Markise arched an eyebrow up at Ariel. "Yes, Pilates," he said. "I didn't get this flexible from watching Quidditch games." Markise proved his point by lifting one leg, knee bent, high against Ariel's side until it was flat against his abdomen, keeping his posture steady as he did so. "I'd show you more, but your cloak isn't that big." Markise settled both feet on the ground again and pressed a quick kiss to Ariel's lips.

Ariel's eyes sparked at that idea, his thoughts helped along by the movement of Markise's leg against him. His hand moved over Markise's back. "Do I really need to be flexible, though?" he asked, raising an eyebrow as he looked down. He didn't see any reason to need to be. "You can have fun with that, I'll make up a routine."

The corners of Markise's lips curved. "Suit yourself," he said. He supposed Ariel didn't need to be that flexible, but Pilates was about more than that. It was about building core strength and balance as well. But Ariel knew what muscles he wanted to work, so Markise wouldn't say a thing in argument. He'd just allow himself to enjoy the results. "Just as long as you aren't doing sit-ups," Markise said. "They'll ruin your back."

"I'll watch out for that," Ariel assured Markise as his mind went over different ideas. "I'm really just hoping we can find out that there's somewhere we can go." He realized then that they were just standing there in each other's arms, but he couldn't make himself pull away, not when it was so very warm and comfortable there under the cloak. So he just shifted his arms around Markise and let his mind wander.

Markise nodded again, unbelievably comfortable and content snuggling against Ariel, even if it was a bit over-warm with the coat he was already wearing. "I wonder what kind of gym they'd have, though," he mused. "This place is so old-fashioned. I mean, SWIM was old, but it was only built back when the Spanish were setting up in California, nothing like this." Hogwarts was an entirely different world from SWIM, from anywhere else Markise had been, actually. It had been so long since he'd experienced the culture shock of first going to California that Markise had forgotten how otherworldly it felt.

Ariel shrugged, "I don't really care, as long as it's something." He just wanted some way to get the exercise he would be craving after just a day inside. Even so early he was starting to feel it, he hadn't been able to be outside often, and most of the time when he was outside it was too cold to try to do anything.

"Mmhm," Markise agreed. "Getting lost in the corridors is exciting and all, but not really much exercise unless you feel like running around in them." Another possibility, Markise knew, but Ariel seemed to want more structure than that, something Markise couldn't really blame him for. He could identify with wanting everything in its place, since that was the way he liked it, too. Most of the time, anyway. Markise blinked and looked back up at Ariel as something occurred to him. "The rooms and staircases move around," he said. "I saw one of the staircases doing it the other day, and I know one of the rooms moved, because I'd left something behind and had to look forever to find it." So he'd stopped trying to mentally map things out.

"Yeah, this place is a madhouse." Ariel didn't know if Markise was aiming at something, and so didn't try to figure it out. "I spent five minutes yesterday trying to figure out where the hell the door was to a room I knew was there only to find out that it had made itself look like a wall." It really was insanity, and Ariel didn't have the most patience in the world.

Markise was affronted at even the idea of a room having the audacity to do that, and it showed with the sudden knit of his brows and part of his lips. "My God, there's old world charm and then there's bad design," he said, relegating Hogwarts to the latter. "What kind of room was it?" Markise asked absently, more absorbed with watching the motion of Ariel's lips at the moment. "If it was a classroom or something important, they should have that fixed."
