Dare nodded, though for the moment, his thoughts were on different reasoning than Michael's. There was no sense of guilt taking up the empty apartment, no sense of being trapped, of everything past the walls being danger or, at the least, misery. It felt like a choice rather than a way to hide. Dare let himself pretend that this was a permanent move, just for now let himself pretend this place was theirs. And Michael was his. "We won't have to order out for food," Dare said, teasingly referring to the house-elf incident. "I'll cook for us. And maybe I'll teach you something," he finished with a crooked smile.

Michael wrinkled his nose, "So long as it's not ramen," he said, glancing towards the kitchen. He didn't mind the idea of learning something, but he couldn't care less if he never saw another block of noodles again. His eyes turned back up towards Dare and he tilted his chin to press a light kiss to Dare's cheek. "Just smack me or something if I start to get frustrated," he said, his eyes laughing softly.

Dare's smile widened at that. "All right, but I'm picking where," he teased, then leaned forward slightly, stealing another brief kiss. His arms tightened slightly around Michael as the kiss broke off. "I promise, no ramen," he said. "If that's all he has in there, we can go get groceries or something." Not very many groceries, considering how much money he had left, but enough to subsist on.

Michael thought absently about turning to face Dare, but he was rather comfortable how he was, leaning lightly back against Dare's chest, and so it stayed just that, a thought. He doubted that Emilian wouldn't have anything other than ramen, especially considering how convinced he had seemed that Dare and Michael would be going down to the shop. "I've written a letter to send Emilian," he said, looking up at Dare.

Dare arched an eyebrow. "About us staying here?" he asked. He couldn't imagine Michael writing Emilian about their personal issues, at least not now, so it made the most sense. "Is he going to get onto you when he gets back?" He hoped not, considering what they'd heavily implied to Emilian to get him to stop in the first place. Dare supposed the newspaper had just lent believability to the story.

Michael nodded in response to Dare's first question and creased his eyebrows at the second. "I don't think so, I honestly don't think he'll want to do much when he gets back other than be with Adara." He had considered not owling Emilian, but that thought hadn't lasted too long, and Michael knew he would still feel at least a little awkwardness until he got a letter back from Emilian.

"True, that," Dare said. He hadn't thought of it that way, but it made sense, and it could work out in their favor. After however long, all Emilian would want was everyone out of his house but the girl. Dare nuzzled lightly against Michael's jaw. "I should write a letter, too. I've got a friend back home--in California," Dare corrected himself, "who I ought to catch up with." He hadn't written once since he'd been here, and he wondered how things were going.

Michael let his head rest back on Dare's shoulder, "A close friend?" Well, obviously it was a close friend, or Dare wouldn't have mentioned it, but Michael didn't know much about the people Dare had been with back there before coming to Hogwarts. "Who is it?" he asked instead, perhaps Dare would elaborate, tell who it was, who meant enough to keep in contact with.

"Markise," Dare said. "Remember that girl in the winter dance picture? She was Markise's sister. He's the one who told me she wanted to go so badly." Dare shifted his arms slightly around Michael, making himself just that much more comfortable. "We started hanging out second year, he was more into music and fashion than art, but there's enough of a crossover there that it worked out." Dare turned his head to press a few light kisses to Michael's cheek, silently reassuring. I love you, Michael.

Michael nodded lightly and closed his eyes, thinking how nice it must be to have friends from home that he wanted to keep in touch with, or at least a friend. He couldn't think of anyone from back home that he would want to keep in touch with, the only friends worth keeping were at Hogwarts. "So you're going to tell him about us?" he asked, wondering how the guy would react to it.

Dare nodded. "Mmhm," he hummed. He paused a moment in thought, closed his eyes, then spoke. "He's the first person I came out to," he said softly. "He'd just come out to me, so I figured..." Dare shifted his arms around Michael again. "I figured he ought to know." Dare didn't know how Michael would take that, if he'd make any connections, but Dare hoped that if he did, he'd say something, or ask, let Dare explain.

Michael felt a twinge of unexpected jealousy, but it was small enough that he easily ignored it, though he couldn't help asking. "Were you ever...with him?" he asked, opening his eyes and looking up at Dare. Then he felt stupid for bringing it up, even if there had been something between them, what did it matter? "You..don't have to answer that," he said, his eyes turning down.

Dare licked his lips, suddenly dry, though he'd almost hoped Michael would ask. Almost. "I told you, there's no stupid questions," he said first, nuzzling lightly against Michael. He gave himself that brief moment before lifting his head and taking a deep breath. "We weren't together like you and me are," he said. "There's not even any comparison. We tried it on and it didn't fit, so that was it." Dare's arms tightened around Michael, and he nuzzled against him again, hoping Michael was okay.

Michael nodded slowly in understanding, he couldn't say anything against it, didn't have anything against it. "What do you think he'll say?" he asked, bringing his eyes back up to Dare. He couldn't think that Markise would have anything against them, and if they had been that close at one time, his opinion must matter to Dare.

Dare's lips curved as he looked at Michael. "Congratulations, probably," he said. There was a moment's thought, then Dare nodded. "Definitely," he amended. "He'll probably want to know about you, what you're like and stuff. I wish I had a camera," Dare added under his breath. He could always draw a picture of Michael and include it, but it'd be so much better to have a picture of both of them.
