Michael laughed lightly, "I'll be feeling it tonight, I swear." And he knew it was going to be a nightmare. He pressed a light kiss to Dare's lips and pulled away, leaning back against the tree again and glancing over at the sketchbook lying on the ground. "Do you want to look at it?" he asked, thinking he was enough removed from his original problem that it wouldn't bother him. When he looked at it he didn't feel the pain or awkwardness as much as he was able to focus on the look in Dare's face.

Dare blinked at the offer, but he wouldn't turn it down. "Of course I want to look at it," he told Michael. He'd seen Michael's work a few times, but this was entirely different. He knew what the situation behind it was; what kind of portrait came out of something like that? He was surprised when he saw it. It was him, he'd expected that much, but from there, his expectations and the drawing differed drastically. It was him yesterday, and it had to have been after they'd been so intimate, because he couldn't remember feeling as ecstatically happy as he looked in the picture. Dare absorbed it for a moment, then handed the sketchbook back to Michael, unable to say a word. He leaned over and kissed Michael in lieu of speaking.

Michael hadn't expected a kiss, though he didn't exactly mind, wither. When he pulled away, he looked back down at it, running a finger lightly down the shadow of Dare's jaw. "I don't think I've ever seen anyone so happy," he said, glancing up at Dare before looking down again and taking in the picture. He smiled, letting himself focus on the image of Dare so very happy instead of how he had felt at the same moment in time.

Dare's lips curved slightly as he watched Michael. "That's just how you make me feel," Dare said softly. "Not just then, but then...it was just everything. It was...how much I love you. It was how good it felt, and sharing it with you. It was knowing I'd shared it with someone I love." Dare didn't care if it sounded cheesy, it was the truth.

The smile stayed on Michael's face, though it softened slightly as Dare spoke. On one hand, he was flying knowing how he affected Dare, and on the other he knew that Dare wouldn't see the happiness from that picture any time soon because of his discomfort. He said it was fine, he reminded himself, however little it helped, and tried to push that thought away. He couldn't think of any words to do his feelings justice, so Michael turned his head, bringing a hand up to Dare's jaw as he met his lips for a soft kiss.

Dare didn't argue with the kiss, nor did he try to think about what was behind it. As far as he was concerned, it was just because Michael loved him too. Dare didn't mourn the idea of not getting to be that intimate with Michael again. He told himself he'd be fine waiting. He'd waited this long, it wouldn't kill him to wait a while longer for Michael to catch up with him. When the kiss ended, Dare brought his hand up to smooth against Michael's hand a moment, then curved around it and threaded their fingers together again. "We probably ought to go to Hogsmeade," Dare suggested, glancing up to where the trees parted and the sun shone brightly through. "Before it gets too late," he added. Dare looked back at Michael, brought his hand up for a kiss against the back, then rested them against Michael's knee. He'd much rather stay with Michael and make sure he was okay with everything, but they'd promised that they'd go.

Michael grimaced, he had completely forgotten about having to go to Emilian's place, and he wasn't exactly looking forward to it once he did remember. "We should," he said, moving his thumb against Dare's. He pulled his eyes away from Dare and down to his sketchbook, trying to get up the motivation to leave and head down. After a few moments he sighed and looked back up at Dare, closing the book with his free hand. "I really hope it's better than it was yesterday."

Now it was Dare's turn to grimace. "I'll try to keep from taunting him," he promised, looking sheepishly down at their hands. It had been satisfying in a way, but it aggravated Michael, so he really shouldn't do it. Dare sighed and grabbed his sketchbook with his own free hand, then pushed to stand, pulling Michael up with him. "And thank you for shutting me up, I probably would have kept going," he added, looking back at Michael.

Michael shrugged as he stood up next to Dare. "You were lucky he didn't do anything in the first place, I didn't want you pushing it," he said, tucking his book under his arm. He kept his mouth shut on Dare's promise. It had been extremely uncomfortable in the beginning, though Michael knew that it wasn't very smart to continue to do it. His lips curved as he thought about when he would be comfortable with being more public, then he could join in the taunting.

Dare saw Michael's smile, and though he didn't know what it was for, his own lips curved as well. "There's one thing, though; I won't have to explain his portrait to him." And Adara didn't intimidate him or threaten his standing with Michael, even if it was all in his mind, so he wouldn't be as tempted to go overboard on justification of his methods.
