Silver lifted his gaze to Dru even before he lowered her hand, and watched her, wondering at everything he saw in her eyes. A smile was simple enough, but what was that gleam? Silver thought for a moment, but couldn't interpret, so he said the first thing that came to his mind. "Knut for your thoughts?"

"Nothing, really," Dru said, dropping her eyes and smiling. "Just happy." She shrugged slightly, wondering if he had any idea how much it meant to her to be actually happy, when she had been in a near constant state of doubt and worry the past year, and before that had been all but depressed for the months before that. "It's nice." Even the knowledge that she would have to talk to Chase wasn't enough to bring her down.

He could only assume she was talking about this. About--strange to think of it--them. Silver had one brief moment of ridiculous excitement where he wondered if Michael actually would bow down in front of him. Then, he recalled his conversation with Anna, and his subsequent conversation with Dare, and his gaze dropped, then shifted out over the water. That entire line of thinking was things he couldn't tell Dru, so Silver worked to shift his mind to something else, though the process was long and silent.

After a few moments Dru brought her eyes back up to Silver and watched him, searching for and finding no reason to regret her decision. A few more long seconds of silence went by before she spoke again, "What about you? Thinking deep thoughts?" She still smiled, wondering what was going through his mind, but wondering more at how easy it seemed to have been to make the decision, after the fact.

Silver blinked and brought his gaze to Dru's. Then her words sank in, and his eyes dropped again. "Something like that," he said. His lips curved ever so slightly into a self-deprecating smile. He couldn't possibly tell her, but it felt like he owed her something. "Just...it's been a long day. A good day, though," he added. He didn't want Dru thinking he had any regrets.

Dru shifted closer to him, "It has been a good day," she agreed. She just hoped the few upcoming days were as good, though she knew there would be one horribly awkward meeting, that needed to be over with soon. "I'm really glad you showed up today, I was kind of in a rut," she admitted, glancing away from him. Then she found herself wondering at how little she seemed to see Silver, especially considering they were in the same year and house, and she made a mental note to change it.

"Oh," Silver said, unsure what else he could say to something like that. "Well, I'm glad I showed up, too," he added. He was at a loss for any more words than that, until a thought occured to him. Silver blinked, then lifted his gaze to Dru, trying to think of what he could say to her. It only took him a moment to decide, and then his gaze shifted down again, to their lightly clasped hands. "Dru, I...I'm going to be...pretty scarce for the next week, so if you don't see me around, just...I'm not avoiding you, okay?" He hoped that would be enough, but couldn't be sure.

"That's fine," Dru said, "Got a big paper or something?" It didn't really bother her that she might not see him very much the next few days, she could live with it, she knew that in the school it wasn't uncommon to go weeks at a time without seeing someone. Not to mention the next few days were going to be hectic to say the least. She knew of two people, at least, that she wanted to search out, and both of them could be hard to find.

"Um, something like that," Silver said vaguely. He'd prefer not to use the same excuse too many times, so he'd take the one she offered and run with it. "But next week, like after Wednesday, I'll be cool. I could...meet you somewhere?" he suggested, daring to look up at Dru again. He was suddenly wondering how he was going to manage this. He hadn't had any close friends at SWIM, so this was an entirely different situation.

Dru nodded, "Yeah, just find me in the common room, I've been staying in there a lot lately." Trying to stay away from everything and work things out, though it hadn't worked exactly like she had wanted it to, and had needed Silver to get it worked out. Not that she exactly minded how it had worked out. "I have some things I need to do, anyway, so I suppose I'll live," she added, grinning at him.

Silver managed a smile at that. He gave in to impulse and leaned forward, pressing his lips briefly to Dru's, then straightened, his smile returning, then widening. "I'd better go, then," he said, looking up to see how far the sun had moved across the sky. It was nowhere near curfew, but still, Silver had some things to do before then. "Next week. I'll find you in the Common Room," he repeated, committing it to memory. Silver made good on his implication of farewells and slipped his hand free of Dru's, then stood. "I'll...see you," he said, then turned and left before he could distract himself.
