Dru let herself be pulled closer to him as she let herself go with the strange lightness in her mind. Somewhere she was conscious of a decision having been made, but she didn't focus on it, instead focusing on the feel of his body against hers, the firm feel of him intoxicating in how different, yet wonderful it felt.

Silver could have stayed in the kiss forever, just feeling without thought. But the tension grew, and he wanted more again, wanted things he knew he wasn't ready for in some distant part of his mind. As much as he wanted to go on, as much as his body screamed at him to just keep going, he had to stop, or lose himself completely. Silver's hands found Dru's waist and tightened, holding her firm for one long, blissful moment before he broke away, pulling quick breaths and praying the world would stop spinning.

Dru couldn't bring herself to pull completely away from Silver just yet, and so her hand continued to slowly move through his hair, keeping that bit of contact as she looked at him. A smile was on her lips and her eyes were hazy, both from the physical sensations of the kiss and the subconscious decision that had been made. A low thank you escaped her lips, a phrase she had found that she said quite often, but it was doubtful he would hear it, much less know that it was because of the help the kiss had been in finding that decision.

Silver didn't hear; if he had, he would have been confused, and so it was lucky for him that he was lost in the return to thought. Things he had repressed were coming back into his mind now, and more, questions about the kiss, questions about everything. Silver tried to sort them, despite the distraction of the feel of Dru's hand in his hair. He wanted to close his eyes and just feel, but he had to know. He had to tell her. "I don't think friends is going to work," he said, praying she'd understand what he meant as his eyes rose to meet Dru's. He was hoping for more.

Dru smiled, and something like a secret shined in her eyes. "Neither do I," she agreed. Though it would be hard, she had no doubts about that, she would force herself to pull away from Chase, and stand firm unlike the last time. She was amazed at how easily the answer had seemed to fall into place with Silver when she had been completely unable to decide when with Chase. Her hand fell away from his hair and searched out his hand.

Silver might have thought she'd taken it wrong. His mind might have twisted her words, might have told him that she meant they couldn't be anything, might have insisted on not letting his hopes up, but there was no mistaking her smile, no mistaking the glitter in her eyes, though he couldn't have known exactly what it was for. And then her hand was on his, and he found his own hand turning, curling around hers reflexively, and he was completely lost. "So, uh...does that mean..." Silver paused, unsure how to say the words, unsure if her mind had really followed his that far.

"I have to hunt down Chase, tell him I made a decision," Dru said, sighing heavily. But even that thought didn't weigh her down, and she found herself nodding, her other arm coming up to wrap around Silver in a tight hug. She was happy, though the reality of the troubles of telling Chase would sink in once she was away from Silver. Though there was surely something to be said, Dru couldn't think of it, not in face of knowing that the days of worrying that the one she was with was a mistake were over.

Made a decision. What decision? To be more than friends with him was the obvious answer, but Silver wanted specifics, and was terrified of just out and asking. What if she rejected him? What if his mind was taking it too far, and that's not what she meant? What if he asked and she thought he was desperate and called the whole thing off? What was the whole thing? It was hard to make a decision with Dru pressed up against him, even if it was an innocent hug. Silver cleared his throat lightly. "So, does this mean...like, after you talk to Chase..." Silver trailed off, unable to say the rest.

Dru pulled away and looked at him, "I'm going to tell Chase that I have a boyfriend." She knew it wouldn't be strictly necessary to tell Chase that, but it would probably help her break away. If everything was already official, it would make it easier for her to stick to the decision. "If that's okay with you," she added. She didn't plan on giving names, though it would be easy enough to figure out, but she wanted to be able to tell him.

Silver's heart stopped, and his lungs constricted so that it took real effort to draw breath. He nodded, said, "Yeah, of course!" but it was unreal, and there was so much going on inside him that it was hard to just pick a reaction. The obvious was, oh my God, I've got a girlfriend, as weird as that sounded to say. But then there was the fear of what Chase would do to him when he found out. Silver tried not to think about that one.

Dru grinned as she watched him, her mind repeating the word boyfriend over and over. It felt so good to be able to classify their relationship after spending so long in whatever she had been in with Chase. She didn't say anything more, just letting herself enjoy the feeling, and then looked down at their hands, a smile on her face that she imagined would be there much more often.

Silver followed Dru's gaze down, amazed to see his hand curved around hers, even if he could feel it. He was someon'e's boyfriend. And Dru was his grlfriend. Dru was his girlfriend! He thought maybe if he repeated it a few times, it might start to feel real, but it was just as strange, just as exciting every time. Dru was his girlfriend. "So...what does this mean?" Silver asked, looking back up at Dru again. "I've...never done this before," he admitted, leaving the rest unspoken. He knew that Dru had.

Dru fought back a sigh at being asked that question, why couldn't anybody just go with it? She brought her eyes back up to his as she contemplated an answer. "It means...that you have to put up with me," she said, a small grin pulling at her lips. "And that I have to put up with you, which shouldn't be too hard." She didn't want the moment to get too serious, wanted to just stay happy, and that question was definitely one that could put her down, because she would much rather have just gone with the flow.

Silver smiled as well; Dru made it easy with her light comments, and her assurance that she wouldn't mind putting up with him. He didn't understand why she was with him--she was with him!--but nothing in him wanted to argue, so he let it go. He could wonder about it later, when she wasn't sitting so close, holding his hand and smiling at him. "I think I can do that," Silver said. Impulsively, he lifted Dru's hand and, as he'd done at the masquerade, pressed a warm kiss to the back. It just felt right.

Dru didn't know where to go from there, her mind whisked away back to the Masquerade by the feel of his lips on her hand. She did know that her lips seemed frozen in that smile, which suited her just fine, she hadn't been smiling enough lately. Her thoughts were running circles in her mind, insisting that she just kiss him, then another would come and say wrap an arm around his waist and just sit with him, while another was telling her to say something.
