They'd gotten in with little trouble this time, since the woman--Dahlia--had recognized them this time. Dare removed the disillusionment from himself and Adara, then turned to look for Michael.

Michael took the charm off of himself and, after putting his wand away, took Dare's hand again. The thought crossed his mind that he was, perhaps, becoming a little dependent on the feeling of Dare's palm pressed against his, but it was pushed back by the simple fact that it felt right. He didn't know exactly what to say, or if there was anything appropriate to say. Adara knew where Emilian was, she didn't need any prodding, so he kept silent. Over the time it had taken to get to the shop, he had become more comfortable with what she was wearing, though it still felt strange to see the familiar clothes.

Adara's mind was beginning to work again, slowly, but surely. Her gaze flickered toward the boys gratefully, then dropped to their hands before shifting past them, toward the partially open bedroom door. She bit her lip, part of her still trying not to get her hopes up, even as the rest of her wondered why she wasn't already in the bedroom. Adara could not seem to form the words to say thank you, but she glanced back up at Dare and Michael before turning, taking a deep breath, and leaving the room. magikal05.proboards46.com/index.cgi?board=jbedroom&action=display&thread=3551&page=1#70547

Dare watched Adara go, watched her pause in the doorway, then disappear, leaving the door ajar behind her. Dare turned to look at Michael again, inclining his head lightly toward that door. "Think it's worth the risk of trying to close it?" he asked. There wasn't any sound from the room so far, but Dare had no idea how long that might last.

Michael's lips curved into a small smile and he let go of Dare's hand so he wasn't pulling him around the room, and went to push the door shut. "At the very least I don't want to feel like I'm trying to listen to them talk," he said as he went to the couch. He looked up at Dare, knowing that he had probably noticed his reaction to Adara's clothes, but thankful that he hadn't mentioned it, though Michael would answer if he did.

Dare could see Michael thinking about whatever it was that had bothered him. He sat down on the couch next to Michael, a little gingerly--for all their discussion about things, he still felt odd sitting on such expensive furniture--and took Michael's hand again. "Are you all right?" he asked. He still didn't know what had set Michael off, but he was more than willing to listen.

Michael nodded, "Yeah, just..." He looked over at the closed door that led to the bedroom. "Those are Anna's clothes," he said, realizing how stupid it was to let it bother him since it was out in the open. He shook his head at himself and looked down at their hands. It wasn't that the breakup had been very traumatizing, he had mostly already went through the process of losing her through the months of absence, but it was still a small shock to see the clothes.

Dare's eyes lit with understanding. He looked at Michael, tried to judge if there was something more to it, but it looked like Michael was already trying to brush it off. Dare raised their hands, hoping to draw Michael's gaze up to his in the process, and brought his lips to the back of Michael's hand. "It's okay," he assured Michael. "If it makes you feel any better, I'm still not over the furniture in here." His eyes laughed gently, mostly at himself.

Michael let out a light laugh and met Dare's eyes. "I remember, when we were little, me and Emilian used to jump all over this stuff," he said, looking around and grinning. "My dad would get so mad at us. But we always did it in this one room, and there was a little door, and we'd run through it before he could do anything, most of the time." He brought his eyes back up to Dare, eyes gleaming with remembered mischief.

Dare chuckled, though it was a little strange imagining it. Still, the gleam in Michael's eyes was so genuine, he knew it could only be true, and it likely wasn't even the half of it. He and Silver had jumped on their fair share of furniture, so it made sense; had he expected that Pureblood children sat quietly all day and behaved nicely? Not likely, Dare thought, looking at Michael. "I bet you raised hell," he said, lips curving into his crooked smile.

"You bet," Michael said, smiling, "Emilian got really good at taking his dad's wand when he would come over." He remembered him and Emilian trying their best to do things behind their parents' backs, things that occasionally ended up badly, but were generally just good fun. "We got in trouble a lot," he grinned at Dare.

Judging by Michael's grin, it was worth it, and Dare couldn't help grinning back. He was beginning to get used to the idea of Michael and Emilian having been so close, though Emilian continued to seem an oddity. He and Michael had grown up together, almost like brothers, and yet the brotherly feeling between them obviously hadn't stopped Emilian from having more intimate feelings for Michael. Theirs was a strange and complex relationship, and Dare doubted that even Michael and Emilian themselves would ever fully understand it, much less him. His gaze dropped away, but his grin didn't fade any farther than into his usual crooked smile. "I think he took us pretty well," he said, broaching the subject that they hadn't had a chance to discuss yet.

Michael looked down, "Yeah, kind of surprised me. But then, it's hard to predict how he's going to act." Even Michael, who had known Emilian for so long, was often surprised by the course he took. He shrugged, "Though asking that question was definitely Emilian, still can't believe he asked it, though." He grinned down at their hands, it was a very Emilian thing to ask, however much it had shocked Michael to hear it.

Dare glanced up at Michael, eyes laughing. He nudged Michael lightly, seeing his grin, and glad to know Michael wasn't upset that he'd brought it up. "You've got to admit it was funny," he said, even if it had bordered on mortifying at the time. He knew he'd all but shouted yes with the stupid grin that must have been on his face, but the question had caught him off-guard, and of course he'd gotten a visual because of it.

"Whatever you say," Michael said, grinning still. Sure it was funny to look back on, but at the time Michael hadn't liked it very much. "Shouldn't have surprised me," he shrugged. Dare had all but said yes, but Michael didn't mind, he thought the same about Dare, so he supposed it was all fair, "Glad he didn't ask me about you, always hated talking to him about that kind of thing." Emilian liked it, though, so Michael had sat through it, listening just enough to give a reply once in a while.
