A groan of bone-deep displeasure rolled from Chase's throat, at being cut off, and at Dru's words, though they had only sunk in because she'd broken the kiss. Still, she hadn't removed his hands, and with his mind as hazy as it was, it was easy to forget. "We'll make it fast," he offered, no thought behind the words other than relieving the tension with minimal risk of getting caught. Then, his mouth was on hers again, desperation creeping into the motions of the kiss.

Dru considered a moment, but she knew where they were, they weren't even in a dip in the ground, they were out on a rock outcropping where it would be so easy for anyone to see. She pulled a hand out from under his shirt and rested it on his hand that was on her pants. "Please, Chase," she whispered, pulling away again. "I want to, just not here," she said, almost a beg for him to just accept it and not fight.

Chase groaned again, his brows knitting at the misery of being forced to stop. He pulled several very slow, very deep breaths, reining himself in, and when he trusted himself to move, retracted his hands. Chase's jaw was tight as he sat, still pressed to Dru, struggling to make his mind work. "Where?" he asked. He was still trying to regain control of himself, or he might have kissed her again, might have tried to persuade rather than being so blunt.

Dru winced slightly at him, she hated when he was like that, even if she knew there was good reason for it it made her feel like she had done something wrong. "The Room of Requirement?" she asked softly, letting the hand that was under his shirt fall to the ground. While she felt bad for making him stop, she couldn't bring herself to go along with it where they were.

Chase nodded, his jaw still set. "Give me a minute," he said. Even through his still-hazy mind, he knew he was in no condition to be walking the corridors. There were first-years out, after all. Chase brought his gaze to Dru's as he worked to calm himself and caught the look in her eyes. "I'm not upset," he assured her, the words tense, but truthful. He wasn't upset, he was just...incredibly uncomfortable, to put it mildly.

Dru looked at him and nodded, then looked away and reached to pick up her nearly forgotten book. "I'm sorry," she said, "I just...can't." And she felt very insecure about that fact. She wished at times that she could just do what he wanted her to, but she was still glad she could keep her own mind the majority of the time.

Chase reached up, catching Dru beneath her chin and drawing her to face him again. "I told you, I'm not upset. I'm fine," he said, his eyes sparking at the last two words, though he told himself they were true. "If you can't, you can't. We'll go somewhere else. Stop...whatever guilt trip you're giving yourself. I've lived through it before." And, though he'd never admit as much, he'd been stopped much farther on, and somehow lived through that as well.

Dru nodded again and looked down at her book, running her fingers lightly over the letters. It was Sinner, the same book she had been reading when Chase had come in on her in the Room of Requirement that one day. She read through it often, so it wasn't exactly a surprise that she had chosen it. "You were convinced this was a dirty book," she said, speaking her thoughts out loud and glancing up at him.

Chase glanced obligingly down at the book, only a moment's pause between his eyes scanning the title and his lips curving. "Well, it looks dirty," he said, gesturing toward the scantily-clad woman gracing the cover. He vaguely remembered the conversation. She'd told him it was Muggle fantasy, and he'd mentioned science fiction. His mind jumped ahead to the book she'd brought him in the hospital. "I've read about half the series from that book you gave me," he admitted, bringing his gaze out over the water.

"Looks can be deceiving," Dru said, glancing up at him. It wasn't the cleanest book in the world, she would admit, but it wasn't graphic in the scenes that would be considered dirty. Then she smiled at his other words, "I'm glad you liked it, I didn't want you in there with nothing to do." She watched him, taking in the lines of his face, perhaps subconsciously she was looking for a way to make it easier to push Silver away, or to let go of Chase. But the only thought audible in her mind was how lucky she felt she was to have him with her, and to have that connection with him.

There had been plenty to do until the nurse had moved his bed over to the windows and started keeping the curtains pulled. Which, admittedly, hadn't been long. "I read it through three times while I was in there." It had been a hell of a lot better than staring at the wall, watching the patch of light from the windows move. That had been a miserable month. All he'd wanted when he'd gotten out was to be out, to get as far away from the hospital wing as his legs could carry him. And he'd gotten out. Without Dru. And within another month, he'd been bored again.

Dru smiled, though it faltered slightly when her mind followed the logical lines of Chase being in the hospital wing. It took her a few moments to move away from that train of thought and focus on something else. "If I can ever stand to part with these, I'll let you read them," she said, tapping the book in her lap. She really liked that particular series and was very protective over them.

Chase looked aside at Dru's book, somewhat skeptically. He wasn't convinced about Muggle fantasy. It sounded a little odd. His gaze rose to Dru's. "If I ever finish this series, I'll remind you that you said that." It was a long series, and somewhat slow reading, getting slower with every book. There were a lot of details he had to learn as he read, and even knowing the history didn't always help.

Dru ran her finger absently over the character in the background that was her favorite in the series, remembering his story. She looked up at him and nodded, "Alright. I'll try to get over my separation anxiety before then." It was something of an addiction, when she started reading one of them, she had to finish the series, again.

Chase's lips quirked. Though he knew how attached Dru was to her books, it was still amusing hearing her talk about them like that. Separation anxiety. Chase's eyes dropped to watch the path of Dru's finger against her book, the motion stirring his cooling body. "Walk with me?" he asked, his gaze lifting to hers again. The words sounded innocent enough, but Chase had no delusions that Dru wouldn't pick up on his ulterior motive.
